TRANSLATION-cum- TECHNIQUE

1. Sit with legs stretched 2. Keep the left foot on the right knee and right foot under the left kneee 3. Hold the elbows with the opposite hands 4. Extend it forward 5. Lika a churner, churn both the arms in this position 6. Fix the gaze at the nose tip 7. Do it slowly 8. Settle down in this asana for 30 seconds.

Completely filling the chest and contracting the whole body during Khumbaka, with subtle concentration is termed as Vyana Kumbhaka by Devi Parvati

TRANSLATION

One should fill the air slowly into the throat like swalowing a morsel of rice and should retain it for maximum possible time, with firm application of Jalandhara Bandha ( explained below) and then should exhale it from the throat. This is Naga Kumbhaka explained by Shiva. By this practice one is able to win over hunger and thirst. -Kumbhaka Paddhathi, Verses 77 & 78

TECHNIQUE

1. Fill the body by swallow air very slowly and let the air go little by little like eating rice morsel by morsel. 2. Onece you are full 3. Immediately contract the throat 4. Place the chin on the chest 5. Hold the breath in this posture as long as possible judiciously. 6. Then exhale slowly from the mouth. 7. Do this 21 times.

TRANSLATION

When the retention of breath is accompanied by puraka and rechaka, it is called Sahitha Kumbhaka. -Kumbhaka Paddhati, 85th Verse

TECHNIQUE

1. Inhale through both nostrills and mouth. 2. Hold the breath as long as you can judiciously 3. Exhale slowly.

SAURA PURANA ||CHAPTER 12|| VERSES: 22-24

TRANSLATION

After exhaling one should hold the breath outside without inhaling the air and should contemplate on the internal moon and suck mentally the nectar oozing out of it. -Saura Purana, Chapter 12, Verses 22 To 24

TECHNIQUE

1. After,Exhale completely 2. Hold the breath outside as long as you can 3. Now visualize moon inside your head. 4. Visualize nectar oozing out of the moon and spreading all over the body. 5. Mentally suck the nectar.(This is the main kumbhaka in this kriya.)

A muni should stand on his toes and tie his hands close to the chest. This is called Panjhasana. -Yogasanam, 9th & 10th Verses

TECHNIQUE

1. Stand on your toes 2. Cross your hands and tie your hands,tie your hands. 3. Hold the hands close to the chest 4. Stay in this posture for 30 seconds.

TECHNIQUE

1. Hold the breath without inhalation or exhalation specifically. Don’t inhale or exhale, just hold as long as you can judiciously. 2. Do this 21 times.
