Paramahamsa Upanishad features commentary on the sacred dialogue between sage Narada and the Lord regarding the path of the supreme enlightened ascetics (Paramahamsas). The text outlines the ultimate state of existence of these realized beings, who transcend societal boundaries, religious symbols (such as the danda, shikha, and yajnopavitam), and conventional identities. It explores the true meaning of renunciation (sarvan kaman parityajya) and dispassion (vairagya), emphasizing that inner purification must accompany outer detachment. Finally, the commentary describes the transition from the limited individual space (chidakasha) to the great cosmic space (mahakasha), wherein the mendicant (bhikshu) becomes one with the cosmos, experiencing absolute freedom and radiating pure spaciousness.
