Do Pagaangi Edi Jo Jodaaphanom

Godaa jangha adhara kari Raakhai Aadevaaha

Isee Vidhi Daakhe ||

TRANSLATION:

Sit on toes and place buttocks on heels. Spread knees sidewards on the ground. Make a hollow of palms and place it on the mouth. Keep the thumbs under the teeth and close the lips. Fix the gaze steadily at the tip of the nose. Inhale through pingala nadi and exhale through mouth to the capacity.

Do this 21 times.

If you do this in your home, do this 51 times.

Technique

sit in the same posture. Visualize the right nostril breathing is going inside as “ham….” Left it is going down as ‘sam….” See inhale with ‘ham’ through right nostril. Exhale with ‘sam…’ through left nostril. Visualize it is coming touching your heart and going out. Please start this ajapa japa. Inhaling through right with ‘ham’ sound, exhaling through left with ‘sam’ sound 21 times.

Puurakaante Gaadhataram Baddhvaa Jaalandharam Shanaihi | Rechayen-Moorchchanaa’khyeyam Mano-moorchcha Sukha-Pradaa ||2.69||

TRANSLATION

At the end of inhalation gradually become fixed on jalaadhara bandha, then exhale slowly. This is called the fainting or swooning pranayama as it makes the mind inactive and thus confers pleasure.

ANYONE SUFFERING FROM HEART DISEASE, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE OR VERTIGO MUST NOT ATTEMPT THIS PRACTCE.

TECHNIQUE

Sit in the same posture, place the palms and hands on the knees, close the eyes. Inhale slowly and deeply through both nostrils. Do Jalandhara Bandha means putting your chin on the chest and lock as long as you can, as long as you are comfortable, when you are feeling little not comfortable, or uncomfortable or dis-comfortable, please release through both the nostrils.

Do this 21 times.

The Sahita kumbhaka is of 2 sorts: Sagarbha & Nirgarbha. The kumbhaka performed by the repetition of Bija mantra is Sagarbha; that done without such repetition is Nigarbha.(5.47)

Technique

Understand inhale and hold the breath inside with one beeja – Hreem, hreem, hreem, hreem as many times as possible hold repeating this beeja in the mind. When you can’t hold anymore relax. Do this 11 times.

Dhyayeth Vidham Rajogunam Raktavarnam Avarnakam|| Translation:

First i shall tell thee the Sagarbha pranayama. Sitting in Sukhasana posture, facing east or north,let him contemplate on Bhrama full of Rajas quality of a blood-red colour in the form of the letter(A).(5.48)

Let the wise practitioner inhale by the left nostril, repeating A 16 times. Then before be begins retention (but at the end of inhalation), let him perform Uddiyanabandha.(5.49)

Then let him exhale the breath through the right nostril by the repeating man 32 times, contemplating shiva of a white colour and of Tamas quality.(5.51)

Then again inhale through pingala(right nostril), retain by Kumbhaka, and exhale by Ida(Left), in the method taught above, exchanging the nostrils alternatively.(5.52)

Let him practice, thus alternating the nostrils again and again. When inhalation is completed, close both the nostrils the right one by the thumb and the left one by the ring-finger and little finger, never using the index and middle fingers. The nostrils to be closed so long as Kumbhaka is.(5.53)

The Nirgarbha (or simple mantraless) pranayama is performed without the repeatio of bhija mantra; and the period of puraka(inhalation or inspiration), Kumbhka (retention), and Rechaka (expiration), may be extended from one to hundred mantras.(5.54)

%Äma iv\<zitmaRÇa ;aefzI maÇa mXyma, Axma ÖadzI maÇa àa[ayamaiôxa Sm\&ta\>. Uttamaa Vimashatir-maatraa Shodashee maatraa Madhyamaa | Adhamaa Dvaadashee Maatraa Praanaayaamaas-Tridhaa Smrutaaha|| Translation:

The best is twenty mantras:i.e., Puraka 20 seconds, kumbhaka 80, andrechaka 40 seconds. The 16 mantras are middling, i.e., 16,64 and 32. The twelve mantras is the lowest, i.e., 12,48,24. Thus the pranayama is of 3 sorts.(5.55)

Axma¾ayte "maeR meékMpí mXymat!, %Äma½ ÉUimTyag\> iÇivx\< isiÏl][m!. Adhamaaj-Jaayate Gharmaha Meru-Kampashcha Madhyamaath | Uttamaachcha Bhoomi-Tyaagaha Trividham Siddhilakshanam || Translation:

By practising the lowest pranayama for some time, the body begins to perspire copiously; by practising the middling, the body begins to quiver(especially there is a feeling of quivering along the spinal cord) By the highest pranayama, one leaves the ground, i.e., there is levitation. These signs attend the success of these three sorts of pranayama.(5.56)

By pranayama is attained the power of levitation(kechari Sakthi), by Pranayama diseases are cured, by pranayama theSakthi(spiritual energy) is awakened, by pranayama is obtained the calmness of mind becomes full of bliss; verily the practitioner of pranayama is happy.(5.57)
