TRANSLATION-cum-TECHNIQUE

1. Place both heels together 2. Spread the knees apart 3. Through the gaps under the legs, insert the hands 4. Place the elbows on the ground with upturned palms 5. Try to bring face near the heels(Do as much as you can)

Jihvayaa Vaayum Aakrushya Udare Poorayet Shanaihi | Kshanam Cha Kumbhakam Krutvaa Naasaabhyaam Rechayet Punaha || 5.54 ||

TRANSLATION

The breath has to be filled in the abdomen by drawing air through the tongue. After having retained the breath for a moment, the exhalation should be done through the nostrils.

TECHNIQUE

1. Protrude your tongue as much as possible. 2. Roll the sides of the tongue like a tube. 3. Now inhale through the tube formed by the tongue. 4. After inhaling, close your mouth. Hold as long as possible. 5. Exhale through both the nostrils.

TRANSLATION

Having turned the tounge upwards, inhaling the air by producing the sound “seeth(hiss)” (because of inhalation), hold the breath and then exhale through both the nostrils. Concentrate on the tounge and the sound created by the air. This is called Seethkaari Kumbhaka – the bestower of great Siddhis to the sadhus. -Kumbhaka Paddhati, 137th & 138th Verse

TECHNIQUE

1. Turn and Raise the tounge upwards 2. Inhale the breath with a sound “seeth”(hiss) and be aware of the tounge and the hissing sound created by the air going in 3. Hold the breath as long as you can judiciously 4. Exhale through both the nostrils slowly 5. Please do this 21 times.

1. Place the heels under the anus 2. Be firmly seated on your toes 3. With the elbows touching the ground, touch the back of your head withthe ground 4. Rest the knees on the ground 5. Hold the feet with hands from the back side

1. Kneel down 2. Place the left heel on the right side of abdomen 3. Bend the right leg 4. Make the dorsal sides of the feet joined to gether 5. Bring the hands on the opposite shoulders 6. Cross the fingers of hands 7. Bend the head forward

1. Beseated on the ground with legs stretched and apart 2. Close the heels together 3. Place the head on the knees 4. Close hands together with forearms on the ground.

Mrutyu-Maatanga-Kesaree || 3.10 ||

TRANSLATION

One should contract the bowels above and below the navel so that the abdominal organs touch the back. The one who practices this Uddiyana Bandha continuously becomes a conqueror of death. The great bird (Kundalini) flies up in the Sushumna and flies there itself constantly.

TECHNIQUE

1. Pull the abdominal muscles inward so that the organs of the abdomen touch the back muscles. 2. Hold for a few moments 3. Relax the abdomen and relax your chin and then exhale through the nostrils
