Prayer. Welcome. Today’s subject is Spontaneous Enlightenment!

140th Patanjali Yoga Sutras, 3rd chapter 34th verse –

Prateebhaakva sarvam

V: by the power of pradeepa comes all knowledge

P: all these powers of knowledge may also come to one whose mind is Spontaneous Enlightenment! through purity

S: or in the knowledge that dawns by Spontaneous Enlightenment! Through a life of purity all the powers comes by themselves

O: Through prateebha intuition knowledge of everything.

In this sutra the keyword is prateebha! He is talking about every samyama. Suddenly he breaks the pot and he says I don’t want to sell you guys anymore retail products. Here is the whole sale product. Take it. he is tired of being a retailer giving you one one samyama every day. He is saying it is time I give you the whole. I think Patanjali was beautifully guiding the seekers. He was not just talking or teaching, he was taking them to enlightenment. That is why I can see the very flow. He has spoken about every energy center. Finally he brought us to Sahasrara. Now he is broken the whole pot and is saying taking it. He spoke about surya samyama, Chandra samyama, polar star samyama, samyama on manipuraka, samyama on anahata chakra, samyama on korma naadi, samyama on vishuddhi chakra – he talked about all samyamas. Then he spoke about sahasrara samyama to relate with masters.

By prateebha all these powers and knowledge come to you. what is the exact meaning of this word prateebha. If I literally translate it means ‘mirroring.’ Let me explain what exactly Patanjali means by the word ‘mirroring.’ First thing understand, there is no ‘you’ in ‘you.’ whatever you understand or experience or feel as you in you is just somebody is reflecting in you. Somebody’s reflection in you if it stays there for a long time, you believe it is you and you are possessed by that identity. Your mother is reflecting on you for a long time, your father is reflecting on you, the society is reflecting on you. Suddenly you feel chaos – so many things are reflecting on you. You also want to mirror and reflect yourself on others. Seeing your reflection on other mirrors is power. Same way when others see their reflection on your mirror it is a game of they being powerful. The long term identities mirrored over you – long term pictures happened over your mirror, you see them, collect all of them and create your identity. It is like a country where too much of metal was there – they made all their deities, buildings, vessels, furnitures everything in metal. Same way they had too much of stone & they made all their deities, buildings, vessels, furnitures everything in stone, too much of wood is available, they made all their deities, buildings, vessels, furnitures everything in wood. Countries where nothing is available except their capacity to swindle, they swindle other countries and enjoy!

Anyhow whatever you have more, you create your identity out of it. Too much of your mother & father has reflected in you when you were a child. Realize all the sticks out of which the broom stick called you is made, please understand – I am comparing your identity equivalent to broom stick, not even the broom stick used to sweep or clean the floor – no. the broom stick used by village women to beat their husbands to wake them up out of the bed. I am equating your identity equivalent to that broom stick. Each stick in that broom stick is borrowed from somebody. If there are 100 sticks maybe 10 from your mother, 20 from your father, 10 from relatives, neighbors. You collect all these sticks and make it a broom and tie it with a silk thread. The silk thread is your decision making capacity because you choose. Sometime even if you have lived with your father & mother from young age, you may decide to choose only 5% of them. Finally all the 100 sticks are from somebody else.

Prateebha means realizing that you are nothing but reflected identities collected and tied by your decision making power and imagined, imaginary identity or image. Decide, carve from now no more feeling me. I am just cheating myself with identity as me. That is the original sin. The origin of our identity – the base is a complete health & consciousness. But any identity we start adding on to it is the original sin. When Patanjali says Prateebha, I will give you exact technique which needs to be practiced. I do not have identity. If I was born and brought up among Christians I will feel I am Christian, If I was born and brought up among tamilians I will feel I am a Tamilian. If I was born and brought up among Hindus I will feel I am a Hindu. If I was born and brought up among Bharatns, I will feel I am an Bharatn – it is the friendship, conscious decision, choice you make that makes who you are. If you are born and brought up among the criminals, you will be a criminal. So 1st thing you need to understand is you do not have the solid identity as you believe. Decide from now I will stay in my pure space of mirroring. I shout at people not because I am a person full of anger and vengeance. No. This is what mirrored in me. I am loving not because I am a person full of love, this is what is mirrored in me. I am filled with joy not because I am a blissful person or anything, no - this is what is mirrored in me. I am filled with love, lust, fear, anger, greed or insecurity not because I am that kind of person but this is what is mirrored in me. Understand the purest space in you whatever you are mirroring is not you. So decide to move around in Prateebha. Visualize very clearly you are carrying a beautiful shining mirror in your heart where your identity is and whatever you call as your identity is just the mirror of the chaos happening in front of you! Please understand, you can actually wear a round mirror as a jewel, constantly feel whatever you feel as you is nothing but too many chaotic things mirroring on you. Stop trusting what you claim as you. It is nothing but chaotic reflection of the junk thrown at you! 2nd thing for this process you need to be in a community of seekers. Understand, the community of seekers plays a major role in doing this samyama. When I say community of seekers I mean coming in contact with seekers every day. The 1st priority will be living in the community of seekers, if not at least coming in contact with the group of seekers every day. When you come in contact with group of mirrors which understand everybody is mirroring everybody, suddenly you will have the spontaneous enlightenment. If you are along carrying the mirror and 100s of people are mirroring you, you having enlightenment will take time and you may throw it away mid way. But if you are in a group where all are wearing the mirror, then everybody knows that every other person is just mirroring others will make you realize the liar everyone is! Everybody realizes all identity everybody is carrying is a lie! Celebrating this realization is what is called ‘bhoota sareera vaasa’ a liar carrying idea of being a liar and projecting the idea that he is a liar on another mirror and another mirror carrying idea of being a liar and projecting the idea that he is a liar on another mirror, another mirror carrying idea of being a liar and projecting the idea that he is a liar on another mirror - when the whole is projected by idea being liar as we all lie, we realize that we are all living in bhoota sareera means ghost kind of body. Sanyaas initiation is a beautiful ceremony. This is what they do. They all sit and laugh – oh god! You are afraid of your identity which is a lie, or because of your greed for another lie, a lie liking a lie , if you are afraid of somebody – a lie is afraid of another lie, same way a lie is insecured of another lie. You will suddenly have liberation – Oh God! What is going on? This can happen only in the community of seekers. Then celebration starts. Only then you can declare – Abhayam sarva bhootebyo – as I understand I am a lie, nobody need to be afraid of this lie! So when so many people declare this . – I give refuge to the whole world nobody need to be afraid of me – 3, there evolves heaven what you call the true sanyaas or the life of satsanga. Satsanga means company of truth means company of all people who realized that they are lie. When you realize you are a lie you become truth. Company of truth – satsanga happens in the realized souls who have experienced the lie projected on lie, lie is greedy of lie, lie is afraid of lie, lies are reflecting on lies. If you are afraid of somebody because he is angry when you realize his anger itself is a lie and he himself cannot hold on to that anger for a long time because it is a lie suddenly you are free! When you are afraid of somebody’s violence towards you and suddenly you realize his violence cannot stand and he himself cannot retain it, you are free, same way greed for somebody’s love happens when you are looking at the lie that person is projecting as love in your inner space mirror. Suddenly the greed will disappear! Living in a community where everybody understands everything is a lie is a heaven. Jagath Mithya – the realization of Jagath Mithya happens only when you are in a community of seekers. Brahma sathya, Jagath mithya. Jagath is illusion, delusion. When the realization of jagath mithya happens, you are in the company of sathya! When a kind of a unique life style evolves around you, you feel – come on, let us celebrate – this is what I call Brahma Sathya. This happens only in a community of seekers. Yesterday I said wear Rudraaksha on head, today I am saying mirror on chest. If you are outside and wearing this and roaming in society, people think you are crazy. Some things even here we are not able to practice like the samyama of no food & water. Everyday I need to sit with person at least 3 times. Vaata pittha kaka dosha can be changed by just moving your hands intensely for 21 times. But we are not able to practice this here. I have decided once all these things settle, I will spend some time with some 125 people and make them live without food and water and just with tea spoon of ghee & sugar and maybe even that will not be required. I can say all these prove power of yoga.

So these things having a mirror and rudraaksha, head band can be practiced here. This is not a problem here. These are based on your inner space and not based on hata yoga, body based. But for any of these things you need a community. Have a big mirror covering your whole chest and visualize you are that mirror. Any idea you have about you – male, female, ugly, beautiful, white, blace, Bharatn, muslim, Christian, hindu any identity you carry is just a reflection on you. go around and live in Prateebha. Understand living in Prateebha awakens not only spontaneous enlightenment in you but so many extraoridinary powers. If you are not levitating, live in Prateebha for 11 days I promise you will levitate. Only thing you need to be in a seeker’s community otherwise you will be mocked and teased and you will lose respect on yourself and others.

So live in seekers community and go around with a mirror. Then automatically you will lose respect for all responses – you showing love, insecurity, fear or others showing these – whole thing you know is lie reflecting on lie! You will realize this whole is a mithya – a big lie! You will have tremendous respect for satya – I think kids can be trained on this because they are not yet developed on personal attachment to their identity. For adults if you practically remove any one stick, you will roll on the ground because of your attachment to the broom stick! You are having a big identity crisis. I tell you it is a powerful process. I can say it is a wholesale samyama Patanjali is giving you. if you are in a seeker community like ours, don’t miss it. just take a mirror and hang on your chest. You can do without mirror also but the problem is you will forget it after 2 days. With mirror you will constantly remember – I am mirroring. Sometimes you need to do things which look crazy and extreme for outer world. what to do we want enlightenment outside people don’t want it. so we need to work for it. once Raghupati Yogi got very angry with me. there was a pig which is his buddy. He told me to go & bring that guy. I went there and tried to call that guy and he was in the mud. I did not go near that fellow because of my washing maniac identity. That pig was not ready to come, he wanted me to touch him! I told Raghupati yogi he is not coming. He got angry because he told me to drag that pig and get it. he said I was not following Guru Vaakya. I cried and said no I will do it. He was actually breaking that identity of mine. Even when a drunkard threw the shoe at me during the scandal, I did not have any maana abhimaana, I was just cleaning that part because there was dust ☺ So he was angry. He gave me a stone and kept it on his head and my head and he asked me to go around with that stone holding it on my head till he tells me to remove it. For 8 days I went around with that stone on my head during all my activities holding that stone! I have to walk from his house to temple, temple to house everyday with that stone. He will take me exactly during my school time only. All my friends going to school will see me going around with that stone on my head. One day I asked him I know you are training me to obey Guru Vaakya but everybody is laughing at me. he said that is true, they don’t want enlightenment, you want it so you are working for what you want. And they are working for what they want. So sometimes we need to do 1 or 2 crazy things which society does not understand.

Still I remember Ragthupati Yogi put a school slate. He tied a rope on it. he did not put a mirror. He put it on my chest. I have to think it is a mirror and roam around thinking it is reflecting. And I went to see Ram Surat Kumar with that slate. He was laughing at me – what you never go to school, why did you wear it here. I told him no I should be constantly seeing that everybody is seeing me in this. then he laughed in such a way I just wanted to walk away from him. I stood up & walked. I stepped on his pet dog and broke that slate. I asked him for another slate because next day morning I had to go to Raghupati Yogi. He looked at that dog. It ran to one shop and just brought one slate. Then Ram Surat Kumar said he only broke it, he only brought it back. That is why I still have so much gratitude for Arunachala it is a seeker community which created right ambience for me to work with all these things to work for my enlightenment. I can tell you 11 days is enough this Prateebha Samadhi will give you a spontaneous enlightenment. Means inside your dream and deep sleep state you will realize your identity is a lie. You will live a spontaneous, untouched, unadulterated pure energy. Try this samyama of Prateebha. Try this process of mirroring. You can now sit and experience this samyama. Feel you are just a pure mirror with no identity. All ideas you carry about you is just mirroring on you from just some lie images. Lies reflecting on lies!

See very clearly you are a pure inner space mirroring every identity, idea, response – but you are a pure inner space! Let the Prateebhaakva sarvam happen in all of you! Let all of you be established in Prateebhaatva!
