10th sutra in 1st chapter, 1st section –

Gathisamaanyaat

Again just one word!

Swami Gambhirananda: Because the knowledge gathered from various Upanishads is the same as regards to consciousness being the cause

Swami Veereshwarananda: Because all the Vedanta texts uniformly refer to an intelligent principle as the first cause, Brahman is to be taken as that cause.

Each sutra in Brahmasutras is a source of an independent philosophical system – thought trend! By its capacity, each single sutra can lead to the complete understanding about existence. For example, this sutra – a very interesting sutra. It says as all the Upanishads declare the cause to be the intelligent source, Brahman is intelligence and that is source. Without any difference everybody declares this. The words with which this sutra is created need to be understood very deeply. Earlier, in the beginning, first 2, 3 sutras a thought trend of supreme intelligence - that pradhana was established. Now, the other aspects of pradhana is being expressed. Deeper dimensions of the same principle. If you remember when I was talking about those sutras which I was talking pradhana is intelligence, means the source is intelligence, I made few questions – alright how do we know it is cause, how do we know it is compassion, how do we know it is running in a balanced way. I said all these are answered in upcoming sutras. In this sutra Vyasa is analyzing as one part very beautifully. He is establishing Pradhana as the causal material. Causal material for the existence, for the happening. Pradhana as the cause – Gatisamaanyaath.

Actually even a single sutra can lead you to the liberation if you can sit & debate on that sutra and transmit the understanding about that sutra to others! See why the debate and transmission? For example, the direct meaning of this sutra is the source, cause is intelligence. Not even source, he is using the word cause. If cause is intelligence, effect also has to be intelligence. Please understand, the cause is nirmala, niranjana means pure, cannot be contaminated adulterated with anything! So cause is the pure unadulterated content. If the cause cannot be adulterated, then the effect also has to be exact version of the cause. For example, if you can add some material like copper into the Gold, then effect can be less quality Gold. But copper cannot be added at all to the Gold, it is pure that is cause. If nothing can be added to the Gold then anything made out of the gold will also be pure. So effect also is pure. So Baadarayana insists in this angel - cause is intelligence. So anything you think which is not intelligent does not exist. How can effect be different from the cause? It is not possible. But our mind continuously denies – no, the effect is having some impurity. But the Baadarayana says no - cause is intelligence. But the big problem is if you hear this truth from me and after ½ hour go for your dinner and to your routine, it cannot lead you to the higher way to exist, higher possibility to exist. No. It cannot. Why will it? how will it? But instead if you guys have 2 team Shankara and Vyaasa and honestly start debating. Understand debate does not mean you have to fight and debate does not mean you have to accept other’s idea. It is analyzing. Now I am introducing a thought trend to you all. The essence of the thought trend – the sacred secret from this sutra, the essence of the thought trend is – cause is intelligence. He gives one example - as all the Upanishadic texts declares, I can say the translation should not be Upanishadic texts, it should be effect of all Upanishad - whenever you sit with the master, the experience always leads you to more & more intelligence. So, naturally if the experience is intelligent then the experience has to be cause. You need to understand how I give meaning to these words. Sometime same word itself can create confusion if you have not understood it properly. If Upanishad word you understand only as text and say because the text says this. You can misinterpret it. Some Upanishad texts can be twisted. So right understanding should happen. I am translating Upanishad is sitting with the master. Whenever you sit with master only intelligence happens in you. so naturally cause is intelligence. If the word is not properly understood you can be in a big mess. Not only that source maybe intelligent, may not be cause, maybe something else also can be added to the cause. So the effect cannot be as cure as the cause or it can be little adulterated.

I have a story for you –

Two thieves break in the middle of the night and open a safe in a bank. There is only some yoghurt and no money. They taste the yoghurt it is tainted. They open other safes and find yoghurt in each safe. One guy says – why don’t you go out and look if this is indeed a bank. The other one sits and tastes the yoghurt which is fresh and nutritious and fresh. The other guy goes out and says it is definitely a bank. The other asks what does the board read. The guy says – Sperm Bank of New York!

Cause is intelligence. You can think we know this why should you repeat again & again. NO. you don’t know. That is why I am repeating. You are adamant not to get enlightened and Vyasa is adamant to make you enlightened. It is like any concept that is shared with you, you miss it in ½ hours time.

Source maybe intelligent, may not be cause. Maybe something else can be added to the cause. Then the effect may not be as pure as the cause. You may have many doubts. Vyasa wants to address all the questions and insists that you understand thoroughly, completely. You are guiding yourself, guiding the people around you with clear understanding. That is why Baadarayana insists on understanding this in a different different dimension, in deeper & deeper & deeper dimension.

Cause is ultimate intelligence. Cause is Brahman. Cause is truth. Cause is source. Cause is compassion. I am making so many statements so that without doing any technique or method this thought trend is established in you. If you strongly understand Cause is intelligence then you will not have boredom to fall into enlightenment. You will not feel bored to fall into meditative mood. You will not feel bored to unclutch. If you feel bored you need to be told again. That is what Vyasa is doing. We are neither interested in listening nor interested in meditating. See if you are not interested in meditating, what can be done? It has to be told again & again till that becomes part of you. Till it becomes understanding in you even in your dream. Understanding with which you take decisions in your dreams is the basic essence and that is the basic cognizance with which you take decisions in your daily life. Life, by its very nature and flow, upgrades the understandings on which you take your next decisions. Every night even the incidents in your dream makes you upgrade your understanding. Makes you develop the consciousness from which you take decisions. Makes you feel more than what your were. So now hit all the difficulties and pain points of your life with this understanding. Your ego will grasp or grab any idea only when you debate. See when you shout some ideas at others, your ego will grasp that idea. Ask if the source is intelligence, if cause is intelligence how these terrorists are made? If cause is intelligence how whom we call as bad people are made? If cause is intelligence, how your spouse is made? If cause is intelligence, how your enemies are made? Because everybody thinks your enemy is dull dumb guy, not intelligent? Have these questions. My answers will not be answers for you. any answer I give you, you will dump in your respected dust bin inside you. so each one of you have a respected dust bin for the ideas I express. Your ego will grasp or grab any idea when you debate. When you shout some idea on other, your ego will grasp that. And your foolish ego does not understand that those ideas will become poison to it and nectar to you!

So whenever you have a great spiritual understanding, debate on that. Suddenly your ego would have been eaten by that idea. If I tell you to follow, it will never happen. Because you have a great respected dust bin – Swamiji’s idea, great, great! We can’t use it we know, let us be practical. You will not directly put it in a dustbin. You will have a technical dust bin – respected dust bin. And sometime you put a beautiful garland to that dustbin, use sandalwood and do aarthi but never pick up the idea. Any idea you know how to divert it - the respected dust bin!

If you start debating, your ego gets associated with that idea. If other is not convinced you are going to fight for this idea. If other is convinced, because you are able to convince others, you will also be convinced. It is like having a clay ball which is your ego and a diamond which is the truth I am giving you. the diamond is just kept on the clay ball and I am asking you to debate. You will hit the clay ball with another one stone and in the process the diamond will get nicely embedded into the clay ball, will get nicely stuck in the clay ball. If I tell you directly to imbibe you will say no, no this is very difficult. But now, the diamond is getting embedded into the clay ball. Not only that the diamond is such when it goes inside, inside, inside, all the clay in your hand will go away and only the diamond remains! When continuously the diamond is hitting the clay ball, it goes inside, inside and the clay slowly leaves your hand. This is the exact process of debate. Your ego will imbibe any spiritual idea only when you debate for it, when you take that side. Actually whole life is nothing but taking a side and go on justifying that side. That’s all. Now in the debate very beautifully you will take the side of the spiritual truth and without your knowledge, the spiritual truth will swallow it. That is why I am asking you to debate…

Shiva’s words will have the nectar for making you enlightened and will have the poison for your ego. So that when you imbibe that the words go in and poison comes out. All my words have the component of nectar and poison. The nectar component is for you, poison component is for the ego. Because the throat has stock of poison to release along with words whenever required. When you start debating these truths, my answers will not work for you. My answers you will put in respected dust bins. When you debate you will create deeper & deeper thought trends.

I have a question, what is the format of debate?

Basic instructions –

1. your body temperature should not increase – no anger or violence 2. Talk on the ideas only based on which you will make or you are going to make decisions every day or you are going to make decisions from today. You have full freedom to declare you are enlightened from today. But then you will have to live like that from today. Declare that and start living like that today. Actually only you can declare you are enlightened. Nobody else can do it for you. I was staying in a monastery. I had a habit of doing puja to Devi everyday. In that monastery you cannot worship any Hindu deities except their founder. The manager questioned me one day. He said no you will not be given brahmacharya . I said I should declare whether I am brahmachari or not. He was shocked. Same way whether I am enlightened or not only I can declare. So you can declare, I encourage it. declare and live up to it. but all these fellows who want to be enlightened they are waiting for me to declare. Then all their problems they will put on me and I have to go on and justifying their enlightenment. You declare your enlightenment and stand up to it. you have the freedom to talk based on which you make decision or you are going to make decision. That is the 2nd rule of debate 3. You neither need to agree or disagree. If you don’t agree you can say I am not interested in agreeing get lost. If you are agreeing, you can say that. if you are neither interested in agreeing or disagreeing you can say that I am not interested in both, let us dig deeper.

But I highly recommend for you to be inspired and create this debate. See these sutras are like this – there are 1000 doors that can open with the same key. I may not be able to customize the key for each door. You need to drill, drill and open it. You opening all the doors, problems of your life through this one key is debate. Create it very strongly. Very strongly create this debate. Then you will understand each & every idea which gets into your system deeper & deeper & deeper will form the base for your higher understanding. Every action out of higher understanding, every thought out of higher understanding, every feeling from your higher cognition will create wealth in you. I am using the word higher cognition means the cognizance is taken in you based on higher understanding. With this higher understanding the cognition you take is what I define as higher cognition. Same way, the more & more higher cognitions you take, more & more time you start staying in the higher space, that is the real wealth you are accumulating. How much of time in a day you are spending in higher cognition, how much time you are spending in higher cognition a day. The debate will help you stay in higher cognition continually. It is a very innovative way of debating on this thought trend.

See actually every day I want to only introduce these thought trends based on every sutra. Because it is such a strong philosophical truths, you will imbibe it only when you debate it. When you debate, one – you will understand better from other’s views, 2 – many of your smaller understandings can be cleaned. 3 – Whole life is nothing but taking certain stands and justifying those stands till death. That’s all.

Just today I suddenly remembered the stand I took for this organization. Today my secretary’s father was not feeling well. He went to see him. I blessed him before he went to see him. Ayya’s father was dead against them being with us. He was insisting that Ayya and Amma not stay with us. So it was a very casual discussion and both of them insisting that we should start the organization. They both were debating for organization and I was debating against it. Amma suddenly said for next ½ hour you debate for organization and we will debate against it. Just that ½ hour changed my whole life and the life of millions! Millions are transformed just with one debate! I just took that side and decided to justify it. That’s all is my life. When you take up any one idea, you take it up and justify it. That’s it. Now you have 2 sides – 1. cause is intelligence, cause is niranjana, niraamaya, nirvikalpa. If the cause is intelligence, effect is also intelligence. If cause is enlightened, effect is also enlightened. That’s it. Then 2nd you can take the side this is not the truth. Take the side and just start the debate.

Even if you stand the side of the idiocy you have the intelligence to make it as legacy. There is no such thing as idiocy. All the source – the cause is legacy so everything has to become the legacy. There is no follower because everybody’s source is leader. You will be a follower till you have not realized you are a leader. If you have not realized your cause is intelligence then your cause is dumbness. It is just your choice now - which side you want to debate, which side you want to take. Unfortunately, you guys are afraid to debate with me. any idea I tell you also, you put it in respectful dust bin. Within next 2 days I will create the debate system and I myself will moderate it. cause is intelligence. So effect has to be intelligence. You are surrounded by intelligence, filled by intelligence, preceeded by intelligence, succeeded by intelligence, run by intelligence, running into intelligence, running towards intelligence, running in intelligence! The cause is intelligence. Source is intelligence. Not only as per the vedantic texts – apta pramaana, even as per the atma pramaana. See the Vedantic texts are apta pramaana for me and my experience is atma pramaana for me. when I transmit that to you, my experience becomes apta pramaana for you and when you debate your experience is atma pramaana for you.

So you can take a stand either ways. Either you are not enlightened – take that stand justify it and live for it. or take stand you are enlightened, radiate it and live it. so if you are saying you take a stand you are enlightened, define it. you should be taking all decisions based on that already or from that moment you should start living up to it. it is simple debate that’s all. Nothing else.

If you declare that you are enlightened then you have to digest the hard truth that your spouse is also enlightened. If your cause is Brahman, you cannot say their his cause is something else! Then look at how it is possible. Vedanta should become Vyaavaharika – means pracitical day to day apeopleied science. That is what will happen in the debate. Deep clarity will happen in debate.

Nidhi dhyasana – from the imbibed clarity the functionality will evolve.

Now I have put in you the listening. Cause is intelligence. This is the base. But now you have to arrive to clarity. You can start debate on this truth. Come to clarity and the functionality will evolve. So whoever wants to declare, declare that you are enlightened, define it and start living it. define so that you are exactly taking decisions on that understanding. Don’t put it in a vague way. Maybe you can create a huge aham brahasmi group. Define your understanding of ‘aham brahmasmi’ – you declare you live. Nobody else needs to give you certificate. The functionality will evolve based on this great truths. You can just sit with this one truth. Define your enlightenment. Just sit and contemplate on what words you will put on face book and in the debate. Just sit and look in. you can declare either or these – you are enlightened or you are not. You need to be honest in what you declare. Be with open eyes, relax. Define and plan. What and how am I going to define. You have the freedom to upgrade or downgrade your enlightenment. But you got to clearly define it. There should not be any grey area. So let you begin the debate.
