Prayer. Welcome. Before entering into today’s sutra, I wanted to share that I have received so many sharings from the eNdebate that happened. Each participant declared that I am enlightened and began the debate. I wanted to read out the essence to all of you ….

This is another one wonderful sharing….”Dear Swamiji this morning I woke up and my mind was asking why I declared that I am enlightened in yesterday’s debate…..

I tell you this is what is your atma pramaana. What I shared with you is aapta pramaana. That got churned in you and became your experience – your atma pramaana.

I want all of you to learn an important lesson from this sharing. Through this you can have a my book. I used to have volumes of what I called ‘my book.’ Unfortunately we lost it. We just found 3 pages from that book and it is such a valuable treasure!

See what I am doing as a process with you now, eNdebate – I used to do this. I was studying a book called ‘atma purana’ which included 4 Upanishads. I was studying it under Issakki Swamigal, an old man he was such a graceful person with a long Jata and big belly and just he will stretch his leg in a very nice way and he will put his hand on the cheek and support his cheek. Still I remember, one side I will sit with this wooden pad, with that big book. Other side Kuppammal will sit fanning him. I will read the original sutra and that translation from that book. He will always take opposite side of the sutra, he will not talk for the sutra, he will take opposite side. Kuppammal will take side of the sutra. Both of them will debate They will drag me in. I will sometime take Issakki Swamigal’s side and sometime Kuppammal’s side. Whichever side I would take, at the end of the day, I will have my own understandings and clarity. Especially at that age – I was 13 or 14, it was such a strong experience! When I remember that now I feel that all kids at age 14, I should gather them in one place and teach them Brahma Sutras! But what to do? Brahma Sutras can create such amazing human beings – graceful, powerful, eternally clear, intelligent, very strong sessions. Then I will go back to the house start writing. The habit of penning down has started in me because of them. I remember very clearly everyday what I used to sit and discuss with Arunagiri Yogishwara also I penned down. And not only that, I read one incident in Ramana Maharshi’s life. He had a disciple Murugunaar. Whenever Ramana Maharshi speaks something, Murugunaar will pen down and take it to him. He would make mistakes by purpose so that Ramana will himself correct them and his own hand writing will be recorded. And this will also tell that all other words automatically stand to be correct. I tell you I had the ‘my book’ it was at least 192 page long size note book. At least in 10 places I had his own hand writing. Also I had a long note book where at least in 10 places I have Arunagiri Yogishwara’s hand writing! Unfortunately we are not able to track it. I am sending people to different relatives place, friends place that I stayed to trace it. I had 10 hard bound satin cloth bound books. I called it “my book” – my first book I can say. Everything in that ‘my book’ is my aatma pramaana to the level in which those great truths penetrated me. That’s it. whenever I wanted to read, I will just brush and go through. I know how I will evolve to certain understanding. One of the biggest problem in a seeker faces in his life is forgetfulness. We go on re-inventing the solution for same problem everyday 12 times. You may say not 12 times but maybe 2,3 times. NO. you forget. You re-invent solution for same problem at least 12 times. Every day morning you will face same problem, then struggle for ½ hour and find solution for that. Simple problem – worry. Tell me how many 1000s of times you decide not to worry anymore? Only 5 minutes you can be without it and again you are back to worry. Forgetfulness. Some time, when you hit the right click, you are very clear, even if death comes, I will not worry. But death is not required, just the shadow of you spouse, one practical problem your worry is back!

You need to understand, not having smarana – remembrance is one of the biggest problem! Biggest problem! If you have the habit of my book - all of you should have the habit of ‘my book’ you should have your own book and once in a while you should pen down. So that you do not waste your time in the same problem. For example if you have worry and came out, next day morning you will again go back to the same worry because you forget the thought trend of how to come out of it. After spending 2 hours you will remember that thought trend. Not having smarana – remembrance. Not hitting the right click when required is one of the major problem seekers face in their life in the path of enlightenment. That problem can be sorted out with this great solution – my book. Have this attitude and habit of my book. After debate create my book. You can do it even in your face book so that the whole world can read it. not just yourself, the whole world can read it. I had such amazing masters in my life. My masters and my mentors and my teachers – every day is excitement to live around them. Of course when Mahadeva – shiva comes in physical body & lives around you, how will it be for you? Especially this Arunagiri Yogishwara I Still remember – once he was teaching about samaana. He was telling samaana is sweetness. He said if your samaana is active, you sweat will have a sweet taste and not salty, a sweet taste. He removed on hair from my body and asked me to taste the wax at the end of the hair. It was very salty. Then he removed a hair from his body and asked me to taste it. it was very sweet. Not only that, if your samaana is balanced, remove one hair from your body from the root along with the root. Stick that wax on a paper or on your hand or on paper or any other object and try to blow it with full force. If that hair is flying your samaana is active. If it is not flying that samaana is not active. I tried to blow it but it did not work. At least 80% of you cannot do it. You may think what is this Swamiji, it is just one hair, no. you try then you will know. So they go on giving me so many practical teachings, techniques. It was so exciting that my book was filled with all these things which directly helped my life.

You guys should start maintaining this my book. It will really awaken and transform your whole life and help you for higher consciousness. The my book can be a very powerful method to kill your ego. See we read in newspapers terrorists used to have cyanide on their body continuously. When they are caught, they just swallow that and die if they think they need to die. Same way my book is the poison which will kill your ego. Of course it is a wrong equation, I can say my book is the ultimate nectar. When you are stuck in life, drink that nectar which gives life to you and death to your ego!

I have a story about cyanide

A lady walks into a drug store and tells the pharmacist – sir I need some cyanide. The pharmacist said Holy Christ! Why do you need it? She coolly tells I need to poison my husband. The pharmacist said I cannot give it to you, I will be jailed and I will lose my license. She then took out a photograph showing her husband on bed with the pharmacist’s wife. He looked at the picture and replied – “well you did not tell me you had a prescription!”

Sometime the right prescription helps ☺

Let me enter into today’s sutra. 1st chapter, 11th sutra

Kshutapaasccha!

Swami Gambhirananda: and because Brahman is revealed as such in the Upanishads

Swami Veereshwarananda: that all knowing Brahman alone is 1st cause of this world because it is so known directly from Vedas also

Swami Shivananda: And because it is directly stated in the sruthi therefore the all knowing of Brahman alone is the cause of the universe

So yesterday we were discussing about the cause. Today, one step deeper. The sutra if you translate you can translate in 2 ways. 1. You can say because the Vedas also declare, cause is the intelligence. The other way - because hearing – sruthi means hearing from the master - hearing also declares cause is the intelligence. And another one way also it can be translated - In the Upanishad means sitting with the master, this is what the realization experienced from inside.

So in all 3 ways you can look in. let me give you the sacred secret. The thought trend I want you to catch from this sutra –

Cause is intelligence not only the Upanishad says – shaastra pramaana, not only Aaapta pramaana – the master’s experience and when we sit in Upanishad with the master – that is atma pramaana also. So I am drilling the same truth. What to do? Panini is not moving beyond. He is just churning the same truth again & again & again!

Last 10 days the same thing is being drilled again & again. For 11 sutras he is repeating the same. I think he is going to repeat the same in all 555 sutras . All 11 sutras he is repeating the same!

Some time we do not know the reason why they repeat. There may be a subtle blockages inside our system which may not be grasping the truth. For example, the same truth if you debate 2nd day, 3rd day the deeper doubts and blockages will be removed. Deeper problems will be removed. Deeper understandings will be revealed. That is why sometime it feels like a masters are nagging you with the same truth. But there is a big difference. The today’s thought trend to go to thoughtlessness - today’s eNdebate for the realization is 3 trend – Kshutapaasccha!

Because of Upanishad, cause is intelligence. So I am translating this into 3 way. 3 sacred secrets in this sutras -

1. Because shaastra pramaana says cause is intelligence 2. Because aapta pramaana – Gurus words says cause is intelligence 3. Because when we sit in Upanishad with the master, our own atma pramaana says cause is intelligence

So have these 3 as a sacred secret for your eNdebate. Sometime nagging ourselves with the great truth is good.

I have a story for you on nagging –

A man comes home exhausted, plops down on the couch, watching TV and tell his wife – get me a beer before it starts. The wife sighs and gets him a beer. 15 minutes later he says – get me another beer before it starts. She looks cross but fetches another beer and slams it down. After 15 minutes he said – quick, get another beer before it starts, it is starting. The wife shouts is that all you will do watch that TV and drink? The man shouts – it is started!

So I tell you start the eNdebate before it starts! Actually I made some notes to present to you guys. But now after sitting here and Saraswathi flows spontaneously this notes seems stupid. The same pradhana speaks by one swami as intelligence and another swami as insentient. But both of them sit in the same sutra if looked at in another way. But both make meaning! It is like same line, you give completely opposite translation, the final conclusion is same! The beauty of Sanskrit poems.

Cause is intelligence because of shaastra pramaana. I can give reference of Shwetaswara Upanishad says 6th chapter, 9th sutra –Is the cause the lord of the lords? he refers to al knowing lord described in the chapter. Therefore it is finally established.

Vyasa refers to this sutra. Again the Taitreya Upanishad says in 3rd khanda, the12th chapter, 7th sutra – again –not the wise one having produced all forms and all names sits calling all by the names

Another sutra from Brigadaranya ka Upanishad says - It is neither course, nor fine, nor short, nor long….

I wanted to speak on Brahma Sutras for 3 purpose – 1. I wanted this science on aphorisms to be stabblished with complete back ground spiritual knowledge. 2nd to make this as a complete life solution to make you as a leader - Ishwara to make you experience. 3rd do all possible studies and record it for posterity. So this part I am doing giving record from all Upanishads so that it will be on record forever. So later on when the pundits, philosophers wanted to do some research, they can study and find more and more deeper and deeper truths.

Again shwetaswara Upanishad 6th chapter 19th sutra – ….who is without pats, without action, without tail the highest bridge of …..consumed its fuel.

Brigadaranya Upanishad – 5th chapter, 15th sutra – for where there is duality as it were then one sees the other, but the self is only this all this. how should he see another. When sees nothing else, hears nothing else, understands nothing else that is the greatest!

Chaandokya Upanishad – 24th chapter, 1st sutra – where one sees nothing else, hears nothing else, understands …..sees, hears something else, understands nothing else that is the greates.t…where one sees something else, hears something else and understands something else that is the greatest finite….the greatest is immortal and little is mortal.

These are some of the shaastra pramaanas. Most of you cannot do debate on shaastra as you are not well versed. The rule for this debate is you cannot twist the shaastra but you have right to question the authority of the shaastra. In Hindu tradition, vedic tradition you can question even the sruthis, even the Vedas. You have right to question the authority. In Vedic tradition, we don’t believe in religion by birth. We believe in religion by discovery. We always insist you discover it for yourself. My book is what I discovered. It is my Bible, my Bhagavad Gita, my Quran.

So Vedic tradition insists you discover your own religion. Discovered religion only will be life for you not the religion in which you are reborn and bought up. Only when you discover religion you will live it. Not before that, not otherwise . So if you have the ability or introduction into the shaastras, do debate you have all right to question the authority and you have possibility of discovering it for yourself. And the 2nd – aapta pramaana – the master’s words. I have already declared – source is intelligence, cause is intelligence. Cause cannot be adulterated. Because it cannot be adulterated, effect can also be adulterated. Because source and cause is intelligence, you are intelligence. Because you are intelligence you are compassionate, because you are compassionate you are all powerful, because you are all powerful you are all knowing, because you are all knowing, you are all pervasive, because you are all pervasive you are all powerful, because you are all powerful you are you! ☺ What I just told translates

Suddha swamyam prAkasa jytoti niliptha nirakara nirvikalpa Satchitananda akhanda paripurna jyothi…

So now I declared the aapta pramaana for you. Now, you start the debate and make it as a atma pramaana for you. you may have to watch this discourse once again to catch line and line and debate on it. One more thing, when you debate on my ideas you don’t need to associate any sacredness to it. NO When any idea is debated, it can be hit from any corner. The Vedic tradition gives you complete freedom to hit even Vedas and Upanishads. So you have all the right to hit all the statements I made from any direction. You need not need to associate any sacredness because it is my words. The sacredness is attributed to that word when you click with it! When my book becomes your book it is sacred. See somebody else’s book has become my book and my book has to become you book. Only then it is sacred. Till then it is not sacred. Please understand, in Vedic tradition, we encourage you to discover your own sacred book, your own sacred secret, your own sacred truth. So I will give you only rough idea where to churn and you start churning. Only when you churn, it becomes yours. Only when you start churning, it becomes yours. So understand, the truth as it is and the experience as it is. Actually I can tell you a simple straight fact – with a straightened out, ironed out brain if just see around, you are enlightened. Nothing else. If you just see around with an ironed out brain, whatever knowledge you receive and pen down is Brahma Sutra – aphorisms on existence. If you see with a straightened brain you will see – wall is a wall is a wall is a wall. Because it needs to be addressed by something it is called wall. There is no other purpose on why it should be called a wall. Now what I said is aphorism on existence of the wall. So many 1000s of people are sitting in front of me – some are listening, some are debating, some are resisting, some are not listening, some are in depression – why? neither I know nor they know ☺ this is the aphorisms on existence on people sitting in front of me.

One TV in front of me is working, other TV is not working. Why? Neither I know nor people working on them know. They may know or may not know they may not even know why they do not know. May know why it is not working, may not want to repair, may want to repair but not repairing. This is the aphorisms of TV which is existing in front of me. That’s all. Bhagavad Gita is a simple happening of life in front of you. Look at it with a simple eyes. What is Brahma Sutras? Aphorism on existence. Certain things some people will not do no matter how many times you tell him. Nothing can be done about it is next aphorism on existence. No I will try to do is an aphorism on anxiety. Why someone is not doing? Aphorism on anxiety. Alright nothing can be done, leave it – aphorism on restful awareness. Let us divert our energy in some other direction – aphorism on Vairagya. Brahma Sutras is nothing but simple reality straight away from the ironed out brain. You need to learn how to keep the art of 100 dogs straight! You should try. Actually your brain, whenever you say one idea – yes, cause is intelligence. One dog’s tail in your brain is straight. Next line when you jump – cause is compassion, already the old tail what happened? It has become round. And you say no, no, no, cause is compassionate, cause is intelligent, source is just, source is living, the 1st dog tail is round and 2nd dog’s tail is straight!

Aphorism on existence means look at that existence and whatever knowledge the reality reveals to you is Brahma Sutra. The Zen saying - The mountain is a mountain is a mountain, the tree is a tree is a tree, the river is a river is a river – is a Brahma Sutra that’s all! “Dhee” – Awakening the intelligence! So go on drilling, debating, analyzing various dimensions of truth, various aspects of truth, various expressions of truth – you will see you are awakened! Today’s sacred secret the taught trend –

3 sacred secret - Because shaastras ancient master’s experience shaastras declares cause is intelligence, because the aapta pramaana – your own Guru who is talking to you he also declares from his own experience - cause is intelligence. Now 3rd because even your own experience when you sit in Upanishad with the master says cause is intelligence, the cause which is happening is intelligence.

With this three start the debate. Start the debate with these 3. Go on, go on, go on. You will experience the greatest truth cause is intelligence from all different dimensions and all different angles. Today I will present a model debate for you guys – eNdebate. I myself will moderate. I will divide all the west coast cities one side and east coast cities on other side. All east coast cities will fall under Shankara and all west coast cities will fall into Vyasa. In the ashram also I will make 2 groups we will have eNdebate on these 3 thought trends. I will only moderate. Today we will have authentic vaada prativaada which used to happen in great rishi universities like Takshasila and Dandakaaranya and in Himalayas.
