{01:58}I will expand on the same verse. In Bhagavad Gita Sankhya Yoga the 2nd chapter 47th verse –

“karmany evadhikaras te ma phalesu kadacana ma karma-phala-hetur bhur ma te sango 'stv akarmani”

“Your jurisdiction is merely in the execution which is at one time or another measured by the reward. Let not the ground for the source of your action be reward. Let your fight with non-performance be the standard of measure!”

You may think why I want to speak on the same verse again & again & again. Because if this one verse is internalized, if this one verse manana happens, there is no way you can get diverted, disturbed. The extraordinary purity, extraordinary enlightenment. Please understand, I am using a word extraordinary enlightenment. You may think then is there are an ordinary enlightenment and extraordinary enlightenment. When I use the word extraordinary enlightenment I mean enlightenment experience which gives you the perfection in all Yogas like a action, devotion, Yoga, Wisdom in every line you will experience perfection. Usually when they drill bore wells for water, underground water, at some points they the drillers they will suggest Sir if we can blast in this area, there are 5-6 streams around, all of them will join. Same way, till this sutra single drilling is enough. If this sutra blasts there are 7-8 streams around. They all will be connected to your bore well. That is why I am trying to blast this sutra in so many angles, in so many ways so that you will catch at least in one part even if you miss some other. Whenever we drill a bore well we always come on a place where 5-6 streams are there. Once you blast all the 5-6 will connect. If the 5-6 streams connects with your bore well, your bore well will never go dry. Same way if you blast this verse into your inner system, your inner strength will never go dry.

“karmany evadhikaras te ma phalesu kadacana “

{07:16} See even to intellectually grasp this verse you need a tremendous maturity because straight away he is saying “Your jurisdiction is merely in the execution.” How dare he tell us come on, you just work don’t bother about the results. Even to receive this you need certain maturity. He is not selfish. Bhagavan is not selfish. It may sound selfish. Understand. It may sound selfish. You may think is this he is saying you have right only to work but never to the outcome. What does he mean? From the ages, time immemorial human beings have been taught - work for the result. The result you want, based on that only you even design your work. Suddenly this guy comes out of the blue and blue color and says you have a right only to the work never to the outcome. Even to understand, you need to be mature. He means 2-3 things – you are beyond any outcome. Any outcome even if this whole universe is the outcome of your work, you are beyond that! See this universe is the outcome of the work of God, but he is beyond that. He cannot be measured based on the outcome. He can be - see you can assume his existence based on the outcome, you can’t measure his greatness based on the outcome. Same way, your outcome cannot be the scale to measure your greatness. You are too big. Don’t you understand, you are too big to be measured by the outcome. Unfortunately, mind goes on measuring. It goes on measuring your existence by the outcome. Your outcome can no way be the scale to measure your existence.

“karmany evadhikaras te ma phalesu kadacana ma karma-phala-hetur bhur ma te sango 'stv akarmani”

{11:13 } The moment you start measuring your greatness based on your output, please understand, you always reduce you. It is disrespect to you. Your existence, your consciousness is beyond any of the outcome of you. So don’t go on measuring your outcome and reduce the possibility of your conscious expression. For example, you start painting and somebody criticizes it or lower estimates than what you think. You think this will sell for 10,000 rupee. Somebody asks aiy 100 rupee is more than enough. That’s all! Your very inspiration, creativity for painting will disappear! I have seen thousands and thousands of creators are destroyed just by this one misunderstanding. I have seen singers destroyed. So many people destroy themselves in such a foolish way. It’s almost like your anger towards somebody is finally directed towards you. You are supposed to punish the fellow who underestimated your painting. What you are supposed to do? Paint in much better better, better, better way and bring respect to it. Naturally the fellow who under estimated it will feel guilty or feel he has done something wrong. It is by exploding you will teach a lesson to him not by imploding. When you start shrinking your capabilities because your rewards are less you are imploding not exploding. Implosion is the punishment you are giving to yourself. Instead of making the other person realize what he has done is wrong.

{14:31} Essence - “Your jurisdiction is merely in the execution which is at one time or another measured by the reward. Understand if you are constantly expecting the reward, one day really you will feel the life is cheated, life has cheated you! the fruit of the life should be life itself. For example, I create this huge sangha. There is every possibility after I leave the body like what happened to many other Guru’s organization. Just yesterday, one MLA from Andhra came. He was telling me. Sorry another one banker. Our banker is also banker for another one Spiritual organization for whom the Guru has passed away recently. He is saying the whole thing has gone to pieces! There are some 8 trustees they have divided the whole responsibility means the organization gone to 8 pieces. One is not interfering with other, sometimes they don’t even talk to each other. It has gone to pieces. That’s all! Naturally the donation from outside has stopped because they don’t work synergitically. When the synergy is missing you don’t need external sources or forces to kill you. Just an implosion. Over! When my secretary described this to me. I just looked maybe this is the way everything happens. Even if this happens to my organization after I leave the body, I won’t bother because this organization is not the outcome of my existence. I already celebrated my existence. Every moment now what I am doing I am celebrating! I am just exploding in my inspiration. It is like I am teaching for many parts of me! You are immaterial for me. Whether you listen or not I don’t care. I try my best for you also to listen. But if you don’t, I don’t have a problem. Seattle Atmamaya you are just jumping around continuously how will you listen and how will others listen? I try my best that you experience whatever I am sharing. That is why I am watching every city and who is jumping around. Now this Saha this fellow is moving around. Who is jumping around, who is walking around, who is disturbing them and others, I am watching. But ultimately even if you don’t listen, you don’t transform, I don’t have a problem because that is what is happening till now. See if I have to expect the reward, I would not have conducted the 2nd day Satsang ☺ If I say what is the reward I am supposed to have – people transforming, second day I should not have conducted the Satsang!

{19:13} If I am going to be bothered about the reward, outcome then 2nd day – oh, I told so much nobody bothers, it’s okay. No. I am not going to punish me for your problems. I have decided, I will go on repeat. I will go on and on and on and on! The only way I will do even if you don’t listen that does not mean I am going to stop giving Satsang. I will give Satsang strongly this pillar, stone, steel, wall, concrete all these should become enlightened. Then you should feel - Oh God! What happens? All these fellows started like us only, they all passed the class and went away and still we are stuck! In one story one guy will be sitting in the same class for 9 years in the college. Other fellow will ask – what happens? why you are sitting for 9 years in the same class? Because I am grateful to my teachers, he is giving his whole life and teaching, how dare in one year you just move and go to something else? Some other class? You forget the teachers, see how grateful I am! ☺

{21:13} The stones, plants outside everything will become enlightened. Then automatically you will feel oh God! What is going on? I will not bend for your peer pressure on me. I will create a peer pressure for which you need to budge. Let me tell you courage is facing the world by you creating a peer pressure and the world budging for it. But usually, you budge for the world’s peer pressure. That is what is called cowardice. When you see early morning, many of your colleagues are not getting up for the Satsang 5 o clock, you look this side and that side – Oh these fellows themselves don’t get up, why unnecessarily I should get up? Come on! (shows a gesture of putting the bed sheet over the face).

{22:38}I was so happy yesterday that I have realized one of my major dimension my Yogic body and I got it back! No, no it is okay. Let you rest. But I did not, the body was not asking for sleep. I thought wow! The Yogic body has come back! It is good!

“karmany evadhikaras te ma phalesu kadacana ma karma-phala-hetur bhur ma te sango 'stv akarmani”

{23:23} In so many ways, you are taken away by the peer pressure of the society. Being taken away by the peer pressure of the society is cowardice.

{23:38} Courage means you surround the world and create a peer pressure. World itself budges for you! That is what I am doing. I am a single guy go on proposing the theory of enlightenment! In the beginning if I was budging for the society, I would have said aiy! because the whole society laughs at the theory of enlightenment, at the philosophy of enlightenment. I would have just sulked and said okay, nobody is interested, nobody is ready to believe, nobody is feeling there is a possibility, leave it. Then I would have been a coward. But now I am creating enough peer pressure to the whole world. The world budges for what I am saying! Courage is creating a peer pressure so that the world budges for what you are saying.

{24:57 }See when I first start the Satsang, the theory of enlightenment, science of enlightenment, none of you are ready to listen and transform, if I stopped then I budged for the world. But now I have decided, whether you get enlightened or not I will make everything around you enlightened – this screen, this wall, this roof, this fan, this plants outside everything around you when they all become enlightened, when they all will be singing the tune of enlightenment. Naturally fan will be doing mahamantra – “mmmmm,” the plants will be moving in the wind – “Om” and all the walls and pillars they are in samadhi. When they all radiate enlightenment, naturally you will experience the peer pressure. Come on let’s transform. I am doing this only. I will create such a peer pressure that everything around you becomes enlightened. So naturally you will become enlightened.

{26:25} Actually these deities are used for this reason only. If you keep all around deities, constantly you will be remembered about that only. All our temples should have many Gods or all Gods. Of course all Gods is not possible. But at least many Gods. Many sampradayas, many deities. I will create this many deity has become one more sampradaya. If it is just one God, you create certain attitude for that God or concept of that God and somehow you manage to escape! Shiva - Oh, Shiva is like this and this is the way I relate with Shiva, this is the way Shiva relates with me. But all problems are not solved by any one attitude of relationship, any one understanding about God. For some solutions, you need Krishna, for some you need some solutions you need Shiva, for some you need Patanjali, for some you need Buddha. Let all of them be there creating intense peer pressure for you. that is the only way you can become enlightened.

{27:58} Understand, you creating a peer pressure and society budging for you is courage only then you are called Dheeraha! The word Dheera means you creating a pressure for which world budges.

Let us enter into the next verse. Bhagavad Gita Sankhya Yoga the 2nd chapter 48th verse -

{28:35} “yoga-sthah kuru karmani sangam tyaktva dhananjaya siddhy-asiddhyoh samo bhutva samatvam yoga uchyate”

The translation - “Oh Dhananjaya! Do what you have to do with no attachment to outcome, being centered in Yoga, be balanced in success and failure. Evenness of mind is Yoga.”

My new translation - “Renouncing attachment, perform your actions with zeal. Oh Dhananjaya! (The person nourishing the vital air – that is the meaning of the word Dhananjaya) remain impartial to success or failure. Remaining in the middle state is the state of union!”

{30:55} Samatvam because no other word in English I have translated as middle state or evenness of mind, be balanced these are all really small words. I will try to translate Samatvam means - be the source, be above. When you are above the success and failure, you realize, you are the source of success and failure. Success and failure no way touches the very source from which it came. Devam, asura both cannot touch the Kailasa the very source from which everything came out. Oh Dhananjaya! Do what you have to do with no attachment to outcome being centered in Yoga.

“yoga-sthah kuru karmani sangam tyaktva dhananjaya siddhy-asiddhyoh samo bhutva samatvam yoga ucyate”

{32:43} You may think why Bhagavan is again & again using Arjuna’s words in many verses. Is he talking only to Arjuna? I think he is feeling shy because he is revealing high level sacred secrets. Tomorrow somebody should not come out and tell – aiy, who asked you to tell all these things? That is why he is telling very clearly now itself – I am talking to Dhananjaya. If you over hear, hear it and use it. I am talking to Arjuna, if you over hear and use it, use it. Because these are too sacred, should not be blamed. Even if you abused this words, you disrespected the sanctity of the whole thing!

“yoga-sthah kuru karmani sangam tyaktva dhananjaya siddhy-asiddhyoh samo bhutva samatvam yoga ucyate”

“Renouncing attachment, perform your actions with zeal. Oh Dhananjaya! Remain impartial to success and failure. Remaining in the middle state.” I will say remaining above this success and failure.

{34:28} The only way to be in this state what Bhagavan says “samatvam yoga ucyate” - The only way to be in this state is go on working. So that you don’t have time to sit and review your success and failure. Go on working! See every day at least 20 projects report will come to me. Naturally some 10 will be success, 10 will be not going well. But I don’t bother because by next day another 30 will be coming. So there is no time to sit depressed. There is no time to sit in failure.

{35:20}You see failure is nothing but virus affecting time! Time is a subtle object. It is not subject. It is a subtle but matter. When the time is affected by virus, what you call is failure. Please understand if you don’t allow the time to sink into depression, if you don’t have a time to sit and brood about your failure or brag about your success, you will simply be unattached! This is the only way. Go on working! If you are doing only 2 project you will suffer so much with success and failure - eustress, distress. Even if you are successful, a kind of a stress gets created in your system. Even your success can be a reason for your heart attack. Understand, not just your failures. Even your success can be a reason for your heart problem. Then now you will say then why should I be successful? ☺ No that is not the solution. Whether distress or eustress both only when you give time to it, it affects you. You brood over.

{37:24} Please understand, stress is given to you like a butter, only when you make it as ghee and drink. It means what? Churning out. The moment it is delivered just put it in the fridge, you will never have any problem. If you have too much like what we do. Too much of chocolate comes to me. I never touch or I never eat. We just put the whole thing in the fridge. For some program either it goes to the Gurukul or to the temple or to the Galleria. Somewhere it goes. Same way, the success or failure the moment it comes, put it in the fridge. Go on doing your work. Don’t brood over. The moment you are brooding over, means you are eating, you are swallowing. Don’t brood over. Go to the next, go to the next, go to the next. Disappearing working – that is what is the direct method for what Bhagavan says – “samatvam yoga uchyate” - All other methods to experience Samatvam is theoretical, not reality. This is a practical powerful method for “samatvam yoga uchyate” Evenness of mind, the state of union – Yogaha!

{39:29} If you are going on planning, going on working continuously your inner space will neither look nor bother about success or failure. Even when I was attacked, this is the exact technique I started following. I did not allow at least our close disciples to sit and brood over. You will never get the answer why it happened. Come on. Even Rama did not get the answer why Sita went away inside the earth! Even Rama could not do anything. Even Krishna did not get an answer why Yadavas have to beat each other and die! The why has no answer! Next! That’s all! The moment you are asking why, you are tumbling down by time. If there is a stone, the stone is time. The moment you ask why your feet is hitting the stone and you are falling. Any answer you get is falling. Understand when you fall sometime you may fall on the mud, you may fall on the sand, you m ay fall on the sandalwood paste, you may fall on the slush. Anything but falling is falling! Even if you get a logical reason it is only falling on the sandal wood paste. But that is also falling. Don’t think just because you fall on the sandal wood paste, your face will not be broken. It will be broken and sandalwood will be applied. That’s all. Usually after the breaking you will apply the sandal wood paste as a medicine, now two in one. That’s all! But the breaking of the face will be there! So any brooding over, any way you try to find the reason, you are only going to torture yourself.

{42:05} So analyzing your success and failure. You may say – no, no,no, for further plans and projects we may need to analyze and find out why we failed and why we succeeded. I tell you never you will be able to learn from one failure to avoid other failure because other failure will come with some other reason. It is not going to come with the same reason. The only thing failure and success wanted to teach you is stamina to handle both. Internal stamina to handle both. Stop believing your failure or success is your life. It’s a lie. Don’t be too much possessed, occupied by your failure or success.

{43:05 } Be occupied intensely by work, by expressing. By constantly moving, moving, moving, moving, moving. If you are working in the same level for one year, I will not call you as my disciple. You are not qualified. Whether in our organization outside organization, in any organization. If you are working in same level for one level, .… Ma Shivananda! If you are working in the same level for one year, I tell you I won’t call you as my disciple. You are expired disciple. Your disciple card is expired, your disciplehood is expired. One year is too much time! When a new body itself is created. Shivananda you are sleeping that is why I called you nothing else! She was in Samadhi ☺ She already reached the state of samatvam yoga ucyate☺ Anyhow. Every year naturally you are getting a new body. by nature your body is completely replenished, rejuvenated, refilled within every one year. So understand, life is not to be stuck in one level. Whether you are working with our organization or some other organization, if you are working in the same level for more than one year, forget about it. If you are stuck in the D or B or C or A. even A for one year without moving higher, please understand, don’t try to move lower, without moving higher, I won’t call you as my disciple.

{45:55}Your every breathing should be creative. Every moment be go on expanding! Go on expanding with more and more responsibility. For example, one year before if you are doing this much of spiritual practice, now it must be at least double. Your awareness, at least struggling for awareness. Breaking free from the Samskaras, breaking free from the Karma bandha. Come on, you are a man, it is time! Life is a courageous fight and very juicy fight. I really cannot believe how human beings work in the same office, same post, same routine more than one year. In Bharatn Government offices, sometime one full life they work in the same office and same post! That is why they become so dumb and insensitive to the life itself! And the only joy they get is by the money they receive as bribe. That is why so much of corruption. Why corruption? Because you are feeling you are stuck. You are not progressing. That is the reason corruption.

{47:58 } If you feel you are flowing, you will not feel like corruption. You see in the flowing, you will always have tremendous courage - come on, here I am,. Even if I lose in one project, I will work in another project. You are in currency. I will tell you if you are constantly churning your life with work, Lakshmi will appear. That’s all! That is what our masters say when the milky ocean was churned Lakshmi appeared. Churn your consciousness constantly with work – work, work, work, work, work! You will forget about how to suffer with failure and how to be elated with success. Because no time. Next, next, next, next. Running itself will become resting for you. Travelling itself will become relaxation for you. Bidadi itself will become home for you! Bidadi means in Bharatn languages hotel or lodge, guest house. If running itself becomes life for you, travelling itself is a relaxation for you, then Bidadi itself will become a home for you. Till then you will not feel homely not only in the Bidadi, anywhere in the world. Sometime this Bramhacharis or Bramhacharinis they run away from the Ashram. Where will you go? You may go to house where you were brought up. But you are not going to feel homely there because you never felt homely only you came here. You ran away from there and came here and you try to run away from here. You need to escape only from your mental set up. Nothing else. “yoga-sthah kuru karmani sangam tyaktva dhananjaya siddhy-asiddhyoh samo bhutva samatvam yoga ucyate”

{50:48}The sacred secret from this verse is – work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work without having any time to brood over about your failure or get elated about your success. Go on and on and on and on and on and on. We don’t celebrate if we achieve some milestone because already we have started working for the next. We neither have time to celebrate nor have time to be depressed. When this huge religious persecution has happened on us, when the religious attack has happened on us by the atheist terrorists, we did not have time to sit and be depressed. We were working next, next, next. Now same way, we don’t have time to celebrate our success. We won the game already. Because again, next, next, next, next. I wanted all my disciples to imbibe this one quality from me go on working, go on taking the responsibility. That is life! Law of life is go on taking responsibility. Go on working. Go on expanding. Don’t settle with a dull routine. No. expand, expand, expand. The sacred secret from this verse is expand, expand, expand! Sit with this one sacred secret – truth!
