Let’s enter into today’s sutra.

1st part, 1st chapter, 26th sutra in BS

Bhootaadi paada vyapadesha upapattehe cha evam!

Swami Gambhirananda – And this must be so becos this makes possible the representation of all the things as a

V – thus also we have to conclude that Brahman is the …where Gayathri occurs becos ….at the feet of Gayathri is possible.

S – and thus also we must conclude that Brahman is the…etc., at the feet of Gayathri is possible

Basically this sutra is the continuation of the last verse which mostly means mentioning of light, prana, space and Gayathri as Brhaman is true. Vyasa Concludes in this sutra by giving some more examples. With the word Gayathri, through the word Gayathri also they mention only the Brahman.

Some bhashyakaaraas, some commentators wants more & more references for what Vyaasa is claiming. Understanding of the pure science in its pure form can happen only when people work on pure science do not bother about the utility value of it. please understand when you are working on the practical science, when you are bothered about the utility value work with the idea of utility value. That is great. Perfect. No problem. But when you are working with the pure science to continue, if you want the pure science to grow sometime you should not even bother about the utility value of the pure science. People who bother about the utility value of the pure science miss the truth. Here Vyaasa refers to some Upanishads like CU 3rd chapter, 12th canto, 7th verse

Yadvaita Brahmaiti Ita….aakashoyo vysabhaagir …aakaashaha

That indeed which is Brahman is sure…outside a person. let me see the next references how the sruthi confirms vyaasaas conclusions the next Upanishadic references. Actually in this sutra itself it is expressed very clearly the word Brahman how it is used in connection with the space. In connection with the light. In connection with various words we mention. In the next further references also Vyaasa tries to prove showing the different references that all these 4 words – light, praana, space, Gayathri all 4 are used only to talk about the Brahman – existence! So wherever these 4 are mentioned, we should take it as Brahman is being mentioned. Actually Vyaasa is preparing us to lead us into the deeper understandings, because in the next next sutras…

You need to understand a few things higher and higher spiritual revelations, higher and higher inner openings. It is almost like just by words, he is trying to take us to heaven. See I have read some stories int eh young age. There was a great saint who brought up a horse…the story says when he feeds the horse he chants the name namah shivaya, rides, trains, gives bath, continuously he filled the horses being with nama shivaya mantra. One day the horse had darshan of Kailasha…and Avayyar another one great lady saint she called Ganesha and asks this fellow chants your name in the horse…after all you are an elephant whatever said and done you are slow and the story says Ganesha picks …

How beautifully …if you can catch the mental set up of Vyaasa trying to transmit to us through the words every day, not only we can capture the spirit of BS, I can say very clearly a unique mental set up evolves in you which makes you experience the space & heaven. See Vyasa is doing a kind of a job just by words without any yoga, without any technique you will shocked 555 sutras not a single technique. Vyaasa neither gives any examples nor gives any stories or any parables and or any techniques. When you end the 555 sutras, you will realize no examples, no parables, no stories, no yoga, no techniques, no meditaion, on mantra, no concentration but no mind! He is just able to confuse us so thoroughly without letting even one corner to hold on. Understand if you have two continuous thoughts without confusion you will trust yoru mind. Vyaasa ensures you will not have 2nd thought without confusion then naturally your trust on your mind disappears! He does not …I tell you all techniques are very poor substitute for enlightenment. Vyaasa’s job …just by words, just by repeating different, different, different words we can ensure that all your past present, future understandings about you, world and the life gets so thoroughly confused. Of course no other word so I am using the word confusion. I can use the word fusion. Instead of the word confusion because it is loaded with so much of negative meaning, all these ideas gets into such a fusion your trust on your m ind disappears and you opn your eyes and see reality. See your mind…it is like something is happening somewhere. You ask your servant the report what is happening there as long as you trust you will be believing …but unfortunately he can look and report only at his level. he cannot report more than his level. only when you stop trusting him, you will feel the necessity for you to go and see there first time. Same way, only when you stop trusting the reports given by your mind about the whole, you will stop looking straight into the truth, into the reality. Otherwise, you will never understand. See till you drop the mind even your meditation, even your techniques maybe 2nd opinion. You can’t ensure always the 2nd opinions are right.

Here is a story for you –

A blond wants to start a chicken farm. Goes to the shop and buys 100 chicken. Comes back after a month and says all the chicken are dead, please give me 100 more. Again within a month she comes back and says all my chicken are dead, please give me 100 more. This happens continuously again & again & again & again almost 6 times. The 7th time was too much for the wholesaler. The guy was unable to understand and ask why…she says no. I think now I know where I am going wrong. The wholesaler asks you understood where you are going wrong…I am planting them too deep! Understand, all your techniques are 7th time buying. All your techniques are 7th time buying but you don’t understand in life there is no trial and error. When you miss, miss. That’s all!

An army officer and trainee both of them jumped from the aircraft. Suddenly the trainee shouts …don’t worry soldier this is just an exercise!

Whether it is an exercise or real jumping, your parachute has to open every time. There is no trial and error in life! Vyasa does not want you to have techniques. Because techniques are trial and error. Many time you try to catch them. I tell you unclutching itself is not a technique. With technique you always tend to cheat. I have seen people palying with techniques and avoiding the truth. They play with Rama’s name and shut the door for Rama. They play with Krishna’s name and shut the door for Krishna, they play with Shiva and Shiva when he comes in the form of Guru. Many time you miss it. and mess it. you don’t know that truth is watching you from all directions. …truth is watching at you from all the directions. For example, it you see this screen, it feels like I am behind the plants. Only from one angle it is true. It is not true from all angles. The truth is different, what you perceive is different. Seeing the screen if I also start believing this is the way I am, see at least I should know this ist he way I am projected, but I am is different. If …and people are not going to watch my movements if I do something here, No. what I did just now is not projected in the screen but all of you saw. So at least I should be clear what is projected, what is is is. Truth is watching at you in all angles. Truth is looking at you from all angles.

Small story. In a school run by missionary there was a dinner in the night, nun kept a huge number of apples told all the kids – all of you pick up only one because God is watching. So all the kids picked one one and moved to the next. Next table there were lot of chocolates. So one child picked up 4, 5 and the other child asked what are you doing?..

Truth is watching you from all angles. Please understand the truth is you are nameless, formless energy! When you can’t experience that you try to think if I do some technique I will experience that. you think the technique you practice is going to lead you to truth or you think this one dimension of truth! You see all your techniques are almost like feeling God is watching only apples! You don’t understand the truth is watching at you from all directions. Sacred secret in this sutra which you need to understand is not to go for techniques but to go for deeper & deeper understandings. If you have more time spend that to understand the truth about the existence. Truth about the elements, truth about the life. Truth about your existence, truth about the whole. That is why real master never gives you techniques. Even if he gives some technique it will be techniqueless technique. What will you do? How much ever you try finally till you dissolve into light you can’t meditate on light!

Other than the techniqueless technique any fact, any information, any idea given cannot be helpful for you, cannot be useful for you. one more story

A man is flying in a hot air balloon and realizes he is lost, he reduces height, spots the man below, he lowers the balloon further and shouts excuse me Sir, can you help me I promised my friend I will meet him in ½ hour I don’t know where I am, the man below says yes in a hot air balloon, ….west longitude. Must be a great teacher of …because he is answering free free. Answers seems to be very factual very scientific but not useful. Anyhow the balloonist says you must be an engineer. The man who is standing on the ground says yes I am how do you know…well everything you told me …maybe you are blowing your nose eveyr day morning 20 times but still you are lost. The man below says you must be a manager. The..how did you know. Man below says well you don’t know where you are or where you are going, you made a promise which you have no idea how to keep…but now it is somehow my fault ☺

Whether you are playing the role or a manager or engineer the techniques are not going to help. The facts are not going to help, the informations are not going to help. They may be technically correct. It may be good for surveyor but not for you. whole cognitive shift needs to happen. I tell you eveyr time I speak about Vedanta it feels o h God it is such a…cognitive shift. Why ppl are suffering so long with unnecessary morning akhaada, yoga, pranayama, meditation, puja and this satsang. But again ppl miss! See it is just a simple cognitive shift. I will give you an example

A dog thinks my owners feed me, love me, provide me with good house they may be God

A cat thinks my owners feed me, love, me provide me with good care, I must be a God!

Understand, even now many of you think the attitude of the dog is right. No. I am saying attitude of the cat is right. Catch it! Because owners provide you food, house, love, everything as long as you feel I. so till the moment you stop. See as long as you feel I all this is provided to you. when you stop feeling the I nothing is provided to you. then the feeling of I which you carry is responsible for all that you are provided with. That is why I am saying the cat’s attitude of I am God is right attitude…this is why you need Akhaada. How many of you thought the moment I said the story the dog’s attitude is right at least for first moment – so all of you need akaada. Many of you would not have thought the cat attitude is right. You may not have had any idea…how many of you really thought the cat idea is right with the logic I explained. I don’t think any of you. becos even I developed the logic after telling how can you? ☺sometime I feel whenever I explain this great vedantic concept how ppl miss so many times. It is just a cognitive shift. Neither the ordinary dogs idea is right. See dog is a materialist. The moment you think they are god, you …see many of our primitive religious Gods are all Gods who provide your need basic needs, Indra who gives rain, Varuna who is responbsile for water, Vayu the breeze…before we evolved, before we had the better necessities we were having only the basic needs the food, good breeze, sun and the crops. So whoever provided all those things we felt they are all God. The attitude of the dog. They must be God. And attitude of the cat I must be God. Again if the cat thinks that I must be God, it meanst he I is his body then naturally he is egoistic. But when I explained the cats attitude in a ordinary way. I meant the I should have meaning of seomthing which resides in the body…so I equated the I to what I feel as I not what cat feels as I. but sometime ppl again & again & again miss. I asked one BC how do you make so many mistakes. He told me Swamiji I wake up early! ☺ sometime I wonder how ppl miss again & again & again!

Repeats verse

Thru this sutra Vyaasa tries to convey one imp truth the cognitive shift he is not asking us to meditate on Brahman, space, prana, Gayathri…no. he is asking us to understand so that further, deeper and deeper. Again & again & again when this truths are repeated in diff diff ways we can catch it, we can find it, we can get it, we can live it. I tell you even the trusting the truth is not complete. Even trusting cannot be equated to catching. And I tell you you don’t even need to trust. You can just catch it! because many time even the trust seems to be superficial.

I have a story for you 2 great desi lovers lalu and rabri decided to commit suicide becos parents are not agreeing for the marriage. Actually if the aprents would have agreed both of them would have committed sucide …both of them would have killed each other. anyhow. Paretns don’t agree it will be suicide. If they agree it will be murder…both of them ran …first laloo jumps but suddenly rabri turns back and came away and said love is blind. IN between laalu stops and says love never dies!..

That’s all is our love our trust. Sometime people ask me Swamiji how do you find the right jokes exactly fitting the right concept….and only the punch lines are highlighted. Today morning when I was doing something else I went through…I glanced through the jokes …as presented I told you all the jokes. Unless now I reveal the secret you will not even know! Its not that I fit the jokes for the concepts, I fit the concepts for the jokes because both are equally jokes. How much concept makes meaning for you, how much joke is light for you, for me both makes same. For me the concepts are also jokes, jokes are also concepts. When you understand all big concepts are jokes, you will understand the cosmic joke. When you understand even an ordinary joke as a great concept, you will realize …

Let me give you the concept for VP today, the truth for the VP today. How we miss the cognitive shift again & again. Dog’s attitude is right or cat’s attitude is right. How to catch the twist given by …whether the technique is going to work or the techniqueless technique is going to work. Why we miss the cognitive shift again & again & again.
