Prayer. Welcome.

Verse 20 -

“atha vyavasthitan drstva dhartarastran kapi-dhvajah pravrtte sastra-sampate dhanur udyamya pandavah hrsikesam tada vakyam idam aha mahi-pate”

Seeing the sons of Dritarashtra arrayed in the battle field Arjuna, the son of Paandu who was seated in his chariot bearing the flag marked with Hanuman, took up his bow and spoke these words unto Lord Krishna, the master of senses! First time Krishna’s name is appearing in this great book Bhagavad Gita! How to introduce Krishna? As I said throughout this book wherever his new new names are appearing, I will introduce that dimension of Krishna to all of you. It is impossible to introduce Krishna in one Satsang. No. Please understand, like money attracts money, power attracts power, people attract more people, glory attracts more glory! Krishna is a embodiment of glory by his own right! So even if I remove all the glories attributed to him, all the miracles attributed to him, all the auspicious things attributed to him and just express what he is even for that, I don’t think it is possible in one shot! So continuously, wherever he is introduced, I will go on introducing him. Here, with the word Hrishikesham he is introduced. Arjuna says in the next verse – (21st & 22nd verses) -

“Arjuna uvaca senayor ubhayor madhye ratham sthapaya me 'cyuta yavad etan nirikse 'ham yoddhu-kaman avasthitan kair maya saha yoddhavyam asmin rana-samudyame”

“Oh infallible one! Please place my chariot between the two armies while I may observe these warriors arrayed for battle and with whom I have to engage in fight.”

“Senayor ubhayor madhye ratham sthapaya me 'cyuta!” He is addressing – Oh infallible one! A real leader! Arjuna is a real leader. He is not disrespecting, he is not poking, he is not saying Oh Krishna let me see your army who has come to fight with you, who has come to stand against you. He is just simply asking take me, let me see all the warriors with whom I need to fight. Let me see all the people I need to fight. In this two sutras, two names for Krishna – Hrishikesham, Atchutam. I can say each name of Krishna expresses one dimension of Krishna! Oh the infallible one! That is what exactly the name Atchutam means. See Krishna is an incarnation. He is not evolved human being descended spiritual being. Understand the difference. It is not in quantity. Very quality difference. Story for you guys –

Small boy wondering how human beings happened on planet earth, goes to mother and asks – mother how did we all happen? She says – in the beginning there was God and the God made Adam and Eve and from there the whole human race happened. We are all here. Anyhow, he wants second opinion. The child goes to father and asks – father, how did we all happen? That guy says no from the monkey we all evolved. Initially there were monkeys then after a long time we evolved and here we are! Child runs back to mother and asks – mom! You say we came from Adam & Eve, God created Adam & Eve and we came from that, father says we evolved from monkeys. Which one is true? Mother answers – well dear! It is very simple, I told you about the origin of my side of the family, your father told you about his side ☺

Understand, you can always give the seat of origin either to God or to monkey. Anyhow, incarnations are not the human beings had breakthrough. They are divine beings had breakdown. That is the right word. Divine beings who had breakdown! It is not ascendance evolution, it is descendance. So incarnations are completely different beings. The very happening is in different level. The very base material is different. Please understand it is not the way they are created is different, it is not the way they are made is different. It is the very base material is different! That is why Arjuna says oh the infallible one! If you see factually the word is not right. You can’t say Krishna was infallible because he ran away from a war. So if you see with your eyes and ordinary facts you can’t say he is infallible. But he is infallible! He did not run away. He waited for the right time to attack back! ☺ Sometime not attacking is a right strategy, right plan. There is a beautiful verse by a saint called Tiruvalluvar in Tamil who says the day time crows can see. They will go & attack the birds, the owl all these birds which can see only in the night time. So the owls won’t attack them immediately. They will keep quiet. Once the sun sets, it becomes night. Crows can’t see. Then the owls will come out and finish these fellows. So owls know when to attack. So it is a intelligence. Sometime, your logic which counts the facts may not be able to grasp. But you need to wait a little bit to see the whole picture. Before seeing the whole picture if you come to the conclusion, it is not only useless, sometime dangerous. One more story for you guys –

Couple lived together for 50 years in rural areas of a country. Never went to a city. But decided to celebrate their 50 years of togetherness. So they went to a city and checked in a plush hotel. Few minutes suddenly started shouting at the bell man – what is this? I cannot put up with this room. Just because we are new to the city, you guys are trying to cheat us. There is no window, there is no a/c, there is no bed, there is no attached bathroom. What kind of room it is? She started screaming. The bell man replied – madam, madam, please wait, this is not your room, this is the elevator! ☺

So please wait. You are only in elevator. So before seeing the complete picture, any decision you take, any conclusion you arrive you miss and mess. Arjuna says I need to see the people with whom I have to engage in fight. “Rana samudyame - kair maya saha yoddhavyam asmin rana-samudyame.”

In the next verse Vyaasa describes some more details – (23rd verse) -

“yotsyamanan avekse 'ham ya ete 'tra samagatah dhartarastrasya durbuddher yuddhe priya-cikirsavah”

“Let me see these well wishers in this war of the evil minded Duryodhana who have come together here to fight.”

Arjuna is expressing now his anger. But see his anger is only restricted towards Duryodhana. He is not calling all the opponents as enemies. He is not saying let me see all my enemies. No. He is saying let me see all the well-wishers of Duryodhana. Many of them have come because Duryodhana supported them during this 14 years. See 14 years is a long time to create new relationships. In this 14 years when the Paandavas were missing in action, naturally Duryodhana had the advantage of the power, position, power of a king, wealth, infrastructure to create friends with all the small small kingdoms. Even for 5 years if you are not in the power the other fellow swallows you. Of course when these guys come back to the power, they dismantle the other guys ☺ Here 14 years these guys were in forest did not have any infrastructure except the good name they earned from their past, good actions. But Kauravas had all the infrastructure, power. So naturally they created lot of good friends. Many of them are there in the field in Kauravas side just to honour their commitment to Kauravas. Just to respect their friendship with Duryodhana. Just because they can’t say no to Duryodhana. See now, you need to understand the psyche of the people who joined the war. I will give you some of the juicy details. There are only two people did not join the war – 1. Balarama. Balarama decided I cannot fight for any one of these fellows because both are equal to me. Bheema & Duryodhana both of them are direct disciples of Balarama in the art of fighting with mace – Gathayudha. The fighting with the mace is art both of them learnt Bheema & Duryodhana both of them learnt directly from Balarama. So Balarama says no I can’t fight for anyone. So I will go for teertha yatra. He leaves for teertha yatra. And the second, his original name is not recorded. His nick name only is recorded. He is called Anna Chola Raja – a Chola king from Tanjore from the southern part of Bharat. He went to the battle field but decided he will not fight the battle instead cook & feed all the warriors who are alive. So he took the responsibility of giving food for both side – the Yudhistra’s side & Duryodhana’s side. And very beautiful description this king everyday morning will go with food to Krishna. First day he kept 18 sweets. If Krishna takes 2 sweets and eats, the king knows now today 2 crore people will be dead! So that night he will cook for 16 crore people. Next day he will go with 16 sweets to Krishna. If he swallows five sweets, now king knows today 5 crore people out. So night he will cook only for 11 crore people. So exactly this way, he did not miss feeding even one person a day, did not waste food even one extra person’s food. Neither said no for even one person, nor wasted even one person’s food! Only these two did not join the fight. I can say Maha Bharatha war is the first world war. Whoever was on planet earth at that time. Please understand, the whole civilization was there only in this Indus valley. The human beings have spread outside Indus valley long after that. there are only one or two references some remote countries people were there even they also came and joined the war. It was practically the first world war where the whole world was involved.

So naturally when that kind of mood is created, see war is kind of a romance! That is why always this war & romance is very closely connected. War is kind of a romance where you don’t know what is going to happen next. And the thrill till the other person is dying is too much! And moreover, it is a kind of an expression of a collective violence. Millions of people are bored with life. And they don’t have the courage to commit suicide all alone. But when the whole group is committing suicide they feel they are going to go wherever they are going together. They don’t understand the moment you are dead, you are alone! Even if you commit suicide with one million people, the moment you are dead, you are all alone! We don’t understand that. This is what is called mob psychology. When the mob is doing something, just flowing with it, losing your individual identity into the mob is a dangerous thing! But unfortunately, man is so unconscious always all the mob things are successful. Why do you think it takes so much of time & energy to spread spiritual truths? Because it is not based on mob. It is based on individual’s experience. Here every individual has to feel connected, start transforming, experience levitation and ultimately enlightenment. It is individual. I tell you all the political ideologies – democracy, communism, whatever name you may call it ultimately in the root form I can give only one name – mobocracy ☺ It is just mobocracy. It is a mob just because the whole mob does it, you do it. That’s all. Anything which makes individual to think, it is very difficult to spread that. But for anything where you don’t need to think and just flow with the mob, very easy to make that happen. Why do you think still even the most intelligent media cannot is not able to take spirituality to the common mass. I have seen some of the most intelligent people in the field of journalism. As reporters or camera men or some way in media. But they say – No Swamiji, this cannot be told to the world, this cannot sell, we will lose our TRP! Even if media wants, it cannot teach spirituality to common masses because it makes you think individually. Understand the moment you are made to think you are an individual, you become individuals!

Just yesterday, there was a situation one of our neighbor old lady near our Ashram she was bitten by a snake, poisonous snake. She rushed to the Ashram for help. Immediately, our Brahmacharis took her in the car, our doctor Brahmacharinis they did first aid, rushed her to the hospital, we admitted her. Doctors were happy because she was brought in right time. Her life was saved. It’s a poisonous snake. She was saved. And you know the very it’s a what to say that I can’t even describe, she is owner of crores of property. She has so much of land in her name. She is a wealthy person. And I know how his sons and grandsons fight for her property. Not single one of them even came to see her! Of course, our Brahmacharis did not even ask for money. I said arey it is life, it is a question of life you spend the money and take her. Because in the hospital unless you pay the money, they won’t admit. I said you pay the money and take care of her. Her health is main. The moment we told the hospital that we take the responsibility for money and immediately hospital admitted, and we paid and we took care of her and we saved her life. She is now okay. I was shocked! I think those fellows are waiting let her die so that they can have the wealth because that is crores worth! She has 6-7 acres especially next to our Ashram. So the Nithyananda component, real estate value also is there. That fellows did not even bother to come to see her. I was actually worrying. See I know she will be saved because within ½ hour we rushed her to hospital. So our Bramhacharis were there and I was continuously talking to one of our Brahmacharini doctor who was taking care asking how is her pulse rate, how is her BP and what are the symptoms and guiding the Brahmacharini to do the first aid and educate the doctor. You see doctor need to be educated what kind of a snake it is so that he can take the next steps – whether it is poisonous, ordinary or all those things. So we have studied everything and we were presenting everything and I know she will be saved! But it feels very surprising how alone people are! Even if you are wealthy! Old lady, sitting on crores of wealth, she does not even know she is a crorepathi. And still the wealth is in her name. these fellows were, actually these fellows were even discouraging us taking her to the hospital! They were very happy. I don’t know whether they brought the snake and left it in the house. No, for a moment I thought oh God! How people are alone!

That is why people always want to stand where the crowd is. They just want to disappear into the crowd! When you disappear into the crowd even if you die you feel good. You don’t feel bad – aiy! The whole crowd died. What is there for us? So everybody has to decide whether for the side of Arjuna or for the side of Duryodhana. And everybody who is ready to fight, who is entering in the fight knows both side are strong whichever side they choose they are going to be killed! It is a mass suicide and the whole group chose it knowingly. Then naturally when they are given the choice, people thought alright, at least for some time I was under Duryodhana, I know him well, so I cannot say no to Duryodhana, let me go with Duryodhana. Just because they decided to go with Duryodhana, they are not Paandava’s enemies. See only an intelligent person can see who are our enemies or who are friends of our enemies. They are there in the opposite side because they are committed to the enemy in some other way. They do not have a direct enmity with you. Only if you know all these details, precise, clear understanding, you can catch it. You can catch the thread which is necessary for victory – the strategy planning. Otherwise many time we will be doing unnecessary things. See you may be wasting your time by fighting with somebody who has come to the opposite side just because his friendliness with the enemy. See first destroy the enemy. After that naturally even if you friend’s enemies are alive, they will choose – aiy now my friend is dead, why should we continue to fight? For him only I came to fight. Now he is not there. Why fight? Drop, relax. So to make all these strategies you need to know who is enemy and who is friend of enemy and all these details.

You need awareness and patience. See here Arjuna is showing almost all the qualities necessary to be a leader. But he is missing few things to be an enlightened leader. I think that gap only is filled by Krishna’s teachings – Gita. If you don’t know who is your enemy and the friend of the enemy, you may be wasting your time in killing the friend of the enemy which is not directly required. doing unnecessary things wastes your time and energy. Story for you guys – one guy walking on the road suddenly sees his watch was lost and he wants to know the time. He was walking near a mental asylum. So he looks this side & that side and he sees a patiet walking inside the compound of the asylum, inside the fence of the asylum. So he shouts – Sir! That fellow replies what do you want? Sir, may I know the time? Immediately the patient jumps and says wait for a minute and he brings a tall pipe and keeps it in a certain direction, looks this side and that side, gets a measurement tape and measures the shadow of the pipe. After calculation, 5 minutes, he comes out and says – Sir, I think now it is time 8:18. If it is August 28th which I suppose to be. Anyhow the man who was walking on the road was really pleased and he says – Brilliance! Thank you sir, but only one thing I want to know, if there is no sun, if it is too cloudy, how will you find the time? The patient replied - he rolls up his wrist and says – I suppose I look at my watch! ☺

Sometime you are doing too many unnecessary things. If you know who is your enemy and who is friend of your enemy, well-wisher of your enemy, you can wage the war in right way! If you don’t know, your well-wisher, the enemies well-wishers, you may be killing the well-wishers unnecessarily which is not required. that’s why he is asking – let me see this well-wishers of this war of the evil minded Duryodhana who have come together to fight. He makes it very clear. Only Duryodhana is his enemy.

Let’s go to the next verse (24th verse) –

“sanjaya uvaca evam ukto hrsikeso gudakesena bharata senayor ubhayor madhye sthapayitva rathottamam”

Sanjaya says – Oh descendant of Bharatha! Being thus addressed by Arjuna, Krishna then drew up the fine chariot to the middle of both the armies in front of Bheeshma, Drona, and all the kings and said Arjuna behold the Kauravas assembled here.”

I think this sutras 2 verses are connected. Let us listen both the verses – (25th verse) -

“bhisma-drona-pramukhatah sarvesam ca mahi-ksitam uvaca partha pasyaitan samavetan kurun iti”

Oh descendant of Bharatha! Being thus addressed by Arjuna, Krishna then drew up the fine chariot to the middle of both the armies in front of Bheeshma, Drona, and all the kings and said Arjuna behold the Kauravas assembled here in detailed.”

First time Krishna is opening his mouth in Gita and he is doing what Arjuna asked. He takes the chariot, puts the chariot in front of the army of Kauravas, he puts the chariot in the middle of both the armies in front of Bheeshma, Drona and all the kings and says Arjuna behold the Kauravas assembled here! You need to know with whom you are going to fight, who are your enemies, who are the friends of your enemies. He is describing the whole scene. I wanted to introduce this words used here by Sanjaya. The words to mention Krishna & Arjuna - he uses the word Kutakesha for Arjuna. Kutakesha means man who conquered the sleep. Hrishikesho means man who conquered, mastered all the senses. Man who conquered all the senses is driving the chariot. Man who conquered the sleep is going to fight. Then what will happen? See here, conquering the senses means ability to control. Conquering the sleep means ability to explode – 2 different dimensions of conquering. Conquering the sleep means no laziness, no tiredness, all the things related to sleep. Laziness, tiredness, the chronic fatigue – everything has only one route. Arjuna is a guy who has conquered that. I have seen many people trying to sit and meditate and listen ☺ seeing Singapore first row Anu’s husband is sleeping, in Houston Umesh was sleeping, just now he woke up! I can tell you from here, around the world how many are in a meditative mood! That is why even in meditation I brought something new called levitation so you won’t sleep. In Toronto Kailash, behind the Tejo, red saree she is sleeping, or maroon saree. There is a big bunch around the world, who are in highly meditative mood – almost in Samadhi! But in some cities nobody can sleep. You see in Atlanta for example, nobody can sleep because there are 3-4 people who will roll all over the house ☺ they constantly keep the energy alive, spirit alive. Nobody can sleep. In Houston we have less people to create earthquake, that is why people are sleeping. No when you sit with a when you sit in the Satsang you should know who are in your left side, right side, south side, back side especially in the back side! Because you don’t know when what will happen. When will this Swami blow in the mike, sometime even by mistake if he coughs! I am wondering how Moksha Priyan is still sitting ☺

So it is actually a new my own alarm system invention! See if one levitator is there, he takes care at least some 20-30 people around him does not sleep because the mess he creates, he or she creates everybody has to be aware may not be about God but about the levitator! ☺ See Kutakesha is one of the great quality – conquering the sleep. When you are able to conquer the sleep, something happens to your brain not just non-mechanical parts of your brain is awakened, an extraordinary creativity and the feeling to take responsibility. Please understand, conquering sleep not only means the ability to live without sleeping or ability to sleep whenever you want as long as you want, it also means ability to take the responsibility. Many time, people are afraid to accept new type of life. They don’t want to take up new kind of life. They don’t want to make new major big decisions. And they have a very nice word to cover up their laziness – we take life as it comes! If you are waiting for the life to take the major responsibilities for you, it will take the major decisions for you. it will do, but after giving you strong kicks!

Very beautifully Vivekananda says better you take the responsibility and make decisions. Otherwise Maya will start doing. Maya means the nature, the world will start doing. But the difficulty is when Maya starts doing, you will be given such a strong message sometimes it permanently impairs some of capabilities and freedom. It happened. let me give you one example. One guy who was our devotee, started having some affairs. Wife came & cried to me. I said called that guy. I called him and said – what is this? then he said – Swamiji you should only stop me. I said what do you mean? I can only advise don’t do, wait. Because see if this fellow is really going to be settling down with the other woman, I would have at least thought alright, anyhow if he is stable with one life, some consideration could have been done. But this fellow is not even going to be stable with the other person also. it was just a confusion – nothing else. I asked him what do you mean that I should only stop you. you want me to take your car keys and hide it or what? He said no, no, no, you only should take care of me, you only should stop me. I said don’t you see it is such a nasty way of escaping from the responsibility? Anyhow, the fool went away dodging me, I told him finally – alright, life will stop you. you will be shocked, he had a serious accident within one month and all spare parts stopped working. So now no more extra curricular activity! He had some serious accident and a very powerful injury in the back and the muladhara – tappp! Fuse gone! Very difficult. See if you have listened and taken the responsibility on your own, it would have been totally different. But when the life teaches, that becomes totally different!

I tell you now here I have a confession to make. Even my imprisonment see for more than last one year, from inside continuously I was feeling that I need to just silently rest for a month because some extraordinary things are waiting to come out. They were sitting inside my being and waiting to explode and express! But other side, my compassion & reaching out to people has taken the priority, I did not give time for that something extraordinary which was waiting to come out. And Shani took the responsibility of keeping in me in one place for a month which was otherwise impossible! And allowed all the extraordinary things to explode and settling of my body to happen. That is why suddenly now, see the day I came out of the prison, suddenly the levitation started, materialization started. Just yesterday night in the Energy Darshan we materialized 6 objects, 6-8-10 objects. Oh god! I am not even able to count! ☺ And yesterday Ayya started levitating – my secretary! He is the closest man who lives around me and never believes anything! Forget about believing any God or he does not believe even me! and even whatever I say he will first check. So finally only after I made him levitate, even I had confidence in levitation! ☺ So I called him to see the materialization yesterday. Because before putting her in front of scientists, I want to put her in front of the scrutinizing eyes! Ayya has very powerful scrutinizing eyes! Nothing can escape in front of his eyes. So he came and sat and I gave her even two candy to eat. So that you see when you eat, you can’t put anything in mouth and take it out. And because you have to push the chocolate inside and the diamond outside. It is not that easy joke. So I gave her two candy. Before giving her the candy I gave it to Ayya – you check first. You may think that I kept the diamond inside this candy and gave! ☺ Ayya checked the candy and gave. Actually while she was, while the candy is going inside the diamonds are coming outside! I thought – wow! Nice investment☺ anyhow, suddenly all this materialization everything started. Because this extraordinary power was waiting, intuitively I was receiving messages continuously that you need to rest your body for a month. Only then the explosion and settling can happen. But when I did not listen, life has made it happen. That is why I say Shani even though it looks for outsiders that he has done something wrong, something bad, he always does good to the incarnations. How can something which is extension of me can do something against me? No. But when the life teaches you, catch it! don’t wait for it to force things on you. Kutakesha means man who conquered the sleep who takes the decisions, not waiting to life to force the situations. Let me be very honest, even I missed it! if I would have given that, taken that time off and pushed me to take a month rest, month off, the imprisoning wouldn’t have happened – imprisonment wouldn’t have happened. but of course, I was running because every day I was seeing thousands of people getting healed. So I thought I can handle, I can manage the explosion and settlement of the energy in the system. Anyhow, understand, through this I want to tell you from my very experience – whenever life teaches, catch it! don’t make the life to force its decisions on you because sometime even the so called wrong things makes some great right things to happen in the life. You don’t know what for life is doing what.

A story – old father asks his son who is staying outside the country – oh my son! I want to plant potatoes but it is a very difficult job, can you come down to our home and help me to plough the land so that I can grow little potatoes. The son writes the reply – no, no, no. don’t do anything in that land. All my weapons are hidden underground in that land only. It’s all inside. I have covered it. don’t touch that land. Within 24 hours, the army people came & dug the whole earth. They could not find any weapon and they went away. Next day the son replies – father now plant your potatoes. This is the best I could do from here because I know all the letters are read by the army! ☺ sometime life may dig your land. But I tell you better dig it on your own. Better take the responsibility before life forces its decisions on you. Kutakesha means the man who has conquered the sleep who is taking the responsibility of his life continuously. So here Krishna who has conquered the senses, mastered the senses is driving the chariot. See to drive the chariot, you need controlling power. To fight you need exploding power. Kutakesha – man who conquered the sleep takes the responsibility to explode. Hrishikesha the man who conquered the senses can control the horses. See actually the whole Krishna’s chariot the Arjuna’s chariot is the human body. the horses are the senses, Arjuna is the individual soul who need to take the responsibility by conquering unconsciousness and sleep. Krishna is the Paramatma the reflection of the cosmic soul in the body. I can say the presence of the cosmic soul more than a reflection – presence of the cosmic soul in the body who completely controls all the senses, controls all the horses and takes the individual soul to its destination to the enlightenment, to the ultimate. Whenever the individual soul is depressed the cosmic soul the presence of the cosmic soul brings the individual soul out of depression and guides. That guidance is Gita! See the guidance which comes inside from inside and lifts you out of depression every time is Gita. Many time, Krishna is talking to you. Only you miss it. Of course you need to know who is talking to you. Sometime in the name of Krishna you talk for yourself and put the blame on Krishna. You better know with whom you are talking.

One new trainee in a corporate company calls through the intercom to the kitchen and shouts – you guys are delaying, I asked for coffee 10 minutes before, what is going on? What kind of job you are doing? He was shouting. But suddenly he realized based on the tone from the other side, he pressed the wrong number because the other side person was shouting – do you know with whom you are talking? I am the manager! This new trainee was shocked and he says I understand, do you know with whom you are talking? The manager says – no, I don’t know, tell me. this fellow says – Thank God! And keeps the intercom ☺

Understand, you need to know with whom you are talking or who is talking to you ☺ the whole chariot is your body, the Maha Bharatha war is your life, Gita is the teachings which comes from within from the presence of the Paramatma to your individual consciousness to lift you out of depression and make you run in the life, take the responsibility of life, wage the war of life. Life is not agriculture. Life is not business. Life is not ruling. Life is not administration. Life is war! Krishna says Arjuna behold the Kauravas assembled here! Please understand, Arjuna was interested only in killing the main enemy Duryodhana. But Krishna was interested in killing even the friends of Duryodhana. See the reason for this whole Maha Bharatha is to reduce the population on the earth. Please understand, the purpose for which Arjuna came to fight is different, the purpose for which Krishna came to fight is different. Arjuna wants to kill just his enemy, he does not want to destroy everybody. But Krishna wants to destroy the whole because he has to reduce the bhoo bhaara. He has to reduce the population on planet earth. That is why when he says here, he says – Arjuna behold the Kauravas assembled here. He is showing Bheeshma, Drona everybody and he is saying behold the Kauravas assembled here. He is not saying here is your enemy, here is the friends of your enemy. See the very sutra says, the very words say each person’s intention. I will analyze the black box thoroughly and present each person’s black box! No you need to be little aware before getting into action. I want you to be completely aware of each person’s personality and the mental set up before we enter into the Gita so that you will understand perfectly. Sometime we jump before understand. See I always tell people jump before you think not before you understand.

One guy was sitting and working in the 13th floor, corporate office on the 13th floor near the window. His friend rushes into the office and shouts – hey laaloo! Your daughter Devi is admitted in the hospital due to accident. Rush there and save her. This fellow in such a hurried mood wanted to reach the hospital so quickly jumped out of the window. By the time he crossed 5 floors he realized he doesn’t have a daughter Devi. By the time he crossed the 7th floor he realized he is not even married. Just before hitting the ground he remembered he was not the Laloo! ☺ Many time neither you have a daughter Devi nor you are married or you are Laloo. But you behave like I am Laloo. I am anna is okay, but not I am Laloo! ☺

So the purpose for which Arjuna is asking. See Arjuna is asking – Let me see the well-wishers of the evil minded Duryodhana. So he does not have direct enmity to the whole opposite camp. He just want to separate. He wants to touch only the enemy. He wants all others to change their mind and understand – Aiy, we don’t have enmity, don’t get killed unnecessarily, don’t suffer unnecessarily. But the Krishna’s purpose is totally different he has to wipe the whole population. He wants to create a new type of civilization. So he wants to clean up. So he says showing Bheeshma, Drona the poor fellows surely Bheeshma & Drona are not enemies of Arjuna. They are actually there forced. They are there just to pay their loan for Duryodhana to pay back because Duryodhana gave them food, shelter, cloth. Just to pay back! But Krishna is taking Arjuna and showing Bheeshma & Drona and all the kings and said Arjuna behold the Kauravas assembled here. The first line itself shows the whole purpose of Krishna. The cosmic drama is revealed, his purpose of Lila is revealed in this one verse! In this first line itself. Sometime, your life may connect your motives may go parallelly with the motives of the cosmos but that is not enough. You should have the complete understanding which cosmos is carrying. Please understand not just in being in tune with the cosmos as accident. See here the Arjuna’s motive and Krishna’s motive are touching each other at one or two points as an accident – war. That’s all. That the only common point. But other motives are all different. But Arjuna needs to imbibe all the logics of Krishna. All the motives of Krishna completely. Till you understand the whole, you can’t exactly catch the truth. See if Arjuna is not understanding all the logic or the reason with which Krishna is functioning, he may miss something. He may not be completely playing the cosmic Lila. In your life also, you may be here maybe understanding only one logic of me. Maybe your one motive is accidentally connecting with my one motive. Sometime people ask me what is this Swamiji? How can people leave you after living so many years with you? I tell them this is the reason. Any one of their motive and my motive accidentally matched. But they have not understood all my reasons and logic for me to exist, why I exist. And all the reasons and logic why they should exist with me. They have not understood. Here you can see very clearly, only one motive war both of them matched. Not why, how, what all the ways, in all these things still the tuning has not yet happened. Gita will do that tuning!

Let’s enter into the next verse (26th verse) –

“tatrapasyat sthitan parthah pitrn atha pitamahan acaryan matulan bhratrn putran pautran sakhims tatha svasuran suhrdas caiva senayor ubhayor api”

Next verse is actually 26th verse and part of the 27th verse both have to be read together.

“tatrapasyat sthitan parthah pitrn atha pitamahan acaryan matulan bhratrn putran pautran sakhims tatha svasuran suhrdas caiva senayor ubhayor api”

“There Arjuna saw stationed there in both armies his uncles, grand uncles, teachers, maternal uncles, brothers, sons, grandsons, and friends as well as his father-in-law and well-wishers.”

Here starts the whole trouble! He is not seeing his army, opposite army. He is seeing friends, uncles, teachers, brothers, sons, grandsons, friends. Understand very clear description. In Tamil there is a beautiful verse by Tirumoolar (recites verse in Tamil) – it is actually 2 verse. Means if you see an elephant carved in a wood. If you see it as the wood, you won’t see it as elephant. For example, elephant made out of sandal wood. If you look – wow! What will be the value of this sandal wood? You won’t be seeing the quality of the carving – elephant. If you are seeing it as a carving, oh what an elephant! You will not remember the sandal wood. When you see the tree, you won’t see the elephant, when you see the elephant, you won’t see the tree! Same way, when you see the world, you won’t see God, when you see God, you won’t see world. Same way the ornament. If you see it as a gold, you won’t see it as an ornament, if you see it as an ornament, you won’t see it as a gold. If you see the self, you will not see senses which are seen through the senses. If you see the senses and which are seen through the senses, you will not see the self! Here, Arjuna as a warrior, as a Kshatriya should have seen only the opposite army and his army. At the most enemy, enemy’s well-wishers, his side & his well-wishers. But, he is not behaving as a Kshatriya here. He is behaving as a Grihastha, as a family man. He remembers all the relationships. Understand, he brings all the relationships. He sees grand uncles, uncles, teachers, maternal uncles, brothers, sons, grandsons. He is bringing the past back to life. Somebody taught you – true, somebody gave you birth – true, somebody is your uncle – true. But in the war field, he should have seen only enemy, friends of enemy, himself and his supporters. That’s it. Or you shouldn’t have gone for the war. See if you don’t go to the war great. But you go all the way to the war and say – Oh! My friends are there, uncles are there, teachers are there. You need clarity. Please understand when you make any decision, you should be able to see the after effect & side effects of that decision. You need to be clear about all the possibilities or the courage to go ahead with the decision, to the end of it even if you are, if you don’t know the possibilities. Either if you know the possibilities and decide it is called planning. If you don’t know the possibilities but even then you decided to go ahead, it is called courage. either you should have planning or the courage. But here, Arjuna is missing both. I have story for you guys –

Husband and wife go to holy land Jerusalem and enjoy everything. Suddenly due to some reason, husband dies due to heart attack and the care taker asks the wife If I ship your husband’s body back to your home it will cost $10,000 but if I bury him here itself in the hold land it will just cost $250. She thinks for a long time and says no ship him to the home. He asks why will you spend $10,000 taking his body back to the home instead of burying him in the hold land just for few hundred dollars? She says – no, long ago a man died here and was buried here and three days later he rose from the dead. I just can’t take that chance ☺

Sometime you should know the possible conspiracies which can happen before taking the decision. She was very intelligent! She was planning with all the possibilities. She did not forget even something happened 2,000 years before! So when you plan you should be able to take all these things into consideration. The possible conspiracies, possible mistakes. But if you can’t all those things into consideration, at least you should have the courage to handle it. But here, this sutra very clearly shows Arjuna is missing both. You can’t win the situation by short cut. No. Either you should have planned or you should have courage. That’s all! One more story –

In the rotary club, they want to choose the new president. After many rounds of election, they short listed three people – one mathematician, one economist, one lawyer. All three were called for personal interview. First the mathematician came. The core group, the core team which was interviewing asked what is 2+2. The guy said 4. Next came the economist. They asked the same question, what is 2+2? Economist said 4 minus or plus 1. Then came the lawyer. They asked the same question what is 2+2? Lawyer confused, little disturbed, anxious. When the core team saw the anxiety in the lawyer’s face they all gathered very closely and asked what happened, what happened? Why are you so anxious? In a hushed conspiring tone, conspirational tone lawyer replied – How much do you want it to be? Tell me! how much do you want it to be – is not going to solve the problem. For life either you need plan or courage. How Arjuna is going to handle this situation, whether he was given plan, the grand master plan or courage. Whether Krishna revealed the grand master plan or courage or gave both – let us see in the further verses!
