Morning news is from paadukas and hands Kumkum has appeared in Oman! Now the teleportation and materialization is no more making news. It has become regular activity. We should do something more to make news. We will do it. maybe I will appear in few places and give Darshan physically! ☺

Today’s subject is the uncertainty principle!

182nd Patanjali Yoga Sutras 4th chapter 20th verse

Eka Samayecha Ubhaya an Avataaranam

Vivekananda’s Editorial Team: On account of its being unable to cognize both at the same time, the mind is not self luminous

Prabhavananda: Since it cannot perceive both subject and object simultaneously

Satchitananda: The mind stuff cannot perceive both subject and object both simultaneously which proves it is not self luminating

Osho: it is impossible for the mind to know itself and any other object at the same time.

I will try to reveal the sacred secrets from this sutra.

Eka Samayecha Ubhaya un Avataaranam!

I can translate this sutra in 2 ways. 1. At the same time mind cannot perceive itself and the reality. 2nd because it cannot perceive itself and something else, it is not swayam prakasa self luminating. Please understand swayam prakasa – the character, the idea of swayam prakasa. The mind and its origin are extensions. Please understand, if you are self effulgent you should be able to perceive your origin and its extensions at a time. If you cannot perceive your origin and extension in the same moment you cannot be considered as swayam prakasa – self effulgent, self shining. You see your origin, source and your extension means the expression both are within your spectrum of consciousness. Very beautifully J.Krishnamurhty puts it freedom from known disappearing into knowing! Please understand till you are liberated from known, you cannot experience your origin and extension. You cannot perceive your origin and extension.

Some of my ashramites are complaining Swamiji now a days your satsangs we have to be completely aware and not miss a single word. Actually all my recent satsangs are not for just one time watching. You need to watch it at least 3-4 times only then you will be able to grasp. Each session is a theory for PhD, philosophy for PhD, truths for PhD. For each sutra whatever I am saying you can apply this with any of the major principles of Vedic Tradition. Today I am explaining swayam prakasa – self luminous. I am defining what is self luminous. You can pick up this idea and apply for everything. You can find out what is life, death, enlightenment, suffering, unnecessary suffering, what is joy, etc.

In Sanskrit the definition of sutra is very less words, clear expression of what needs to be told which will be non-contradictory and complimentary to all the other truths expressed in other sutras. Please understand, each sutra, truth revealed should not be fighting with the other truths. It should be complimenting at least co-operating with other truths. We can evolve a new word. Instead of competition, we can say cooptation. Competition is no more a fashion. Because when you decide to compete most of the resources available with other organizations with whom you are competing which may enrich the end product of you, your delivery may not be within your access. Please understand, you are competing with certain corporate company. Many of the resources which you need to make your product more user friendly or useful to society maybe stuck with them. so through competition , the sufferer is customer. The mentality of competition stops the overall growth of humanity. So cooptition – competing with a strong cooperation.

Only a unique identity you have only that part let us compete. All other resources let us make it available to all others. So the spirit of completion is also retained but the losses caused by competition are not there. That is why the sutras cannot compete with each other. Brahma Sutras, Yoga Sutras, Nyaya sutras cannot compete with each other. Same way Vaishnava, Shaiva, Shakta cannot compete with each other. They have to be cooptition. Only in their unique stand they should retain their uniqueness all other resources should be shared. So that the humanity, the consumer, the customer receives the best things and all our intelligence finally is put to the best use for evolution of human consciousness whether in the level of outer world comfort or inner world experience.

The sutra is supposed to be non-competing. That is the reason my translations have to be too long, strong, highly disciplined and principled words. So I sincerely request people at least watch each satsang 2-3 times so that you will catch all the deeper sacred secrets. Other day one of our ashramite is telling Swamiji one of the dresses gifted to you first time when I see it is not nice, but 2-3 times when I see you in it, it is nice. I said that is I want you to do, that is why I am wearing them. Satsang also same, first time you see you may not understand, you will have to see 2, 3 times for you to get it.

Anything can be called as ultimate, self luminous only when it can experience its origin and extension.

Eka samaye – at one time simultaneously – same time, the mind cannot experience its origin or its extension. See the mind itself is the binary experience between its origin and extension. The extension of mind is thought, origin of mind is consciousness. Mind is nothing but the jump between these two. It is an action! An action cannot perceive the actor in same time. Look in your life. An action and actor will never be perceived. This understanding can really deepen your life. How you know. Many time you feel in your life people take double standards. With you they talk something but when your enemy goes they talk something else. Don’t blame the person. it is the quality of the mind. See mind is the jump between the consciousness and thought. It is a constant jump! Be very clear you also do the same whenever you get a chance and you are confident you can justify it later on. Chance and the ability to justify does not take away the responsibility of action from your being. Understand by the nature of mind, it jumps from this to that, that to this, this to that, that to this. it goes on & on & on! Many time your ignorance of trusting the mind – your mind and others mind leads you to suffering but you blame God! It is like you drink the poison you expect your enemy to die! By blaming the God, you are not going to kill your enemy. Your enemy is instable mind. The mind which cannot perceive its origin and extension at a time. But instead of suspecting the mind which cannot perceive origin and extension at a time, you go on suspecting who can perceive origin and extension end to end, who is embodiment of extension. You go on suspecting your consciousness, instead of mind. You go on suspecting the ultimate truths of life instead of mind which is giving interpretations to those truths!

Today first time I realize I am just casually able to use my hand! Nice mind! Suspect the mind which cannot grasp its source and extension in any conclusion it brings, any idea it brings, any interpretation it brings. Understand, doubting your mind will bring tremendous healing and compassion effect in your system. Your mind is almost like this big machine. It goes through too much of friction. More than the trouble it creates for others, it creates for you! oh God! I cannot imagine somebody living this many years with spare parts without lubrication. Lubrication for this mechanism is your doubt for the mind and by understanding its limitation that it cannot grasp its origin and extension. It is not complete. It just moves, moves, moves! In this incomplete incompetent mind, we create so many things. We decide many ideas about our relationships, our life, our commitment, our goal. Sometimes I feel the whole planet earth is a huge mad house! Just see, the whole planet is a mad house except one or two gardens who are enlightened beings. How can this huge mad house even be monitored forget about controlling by one or two enlightened beings. That is why they look like huge mad. Madness is declared based on majority votes.

We decided it is impossible to control this huge mad house. At least let us have a self monitoring system like a self introspective system. The system we invented is called marriage ☺ Then we introduced marriage to planet earth! :-) it is a huge mad house. The moment you start doubting, doubting, doubting – your mind’s cognizance and the capacities and decisions, it straight away leads to enlightenment.

A small story -

A general noticed one day one of his soldier behave oddly. The soldier would pick up any piece of paper, frown and say – “that is not it,” and put it down. This went on for days, weeks and months. Finally the general arranged to have the soldier to psychologically tested. The doctor concluded that he is mentally derailed and wrote on a piece of paper wrote the discharge summary - “discharge him from army!” the soldier looked at it and said that is it! that is it! ☺

Go on picking up your mind and saying this is not, this is not. Then the army general will send you to the psychologist. Then finally when you pick up the summary sheet you will say wow, that is it! that is it! That summary sheet is enlightenment.

The only way to escape from mind is doubt everything. Every conclusion mind brings to you before operating on it, doubt. The biggest problem we have is we think oh my whole life Is then handicapped how can I run my business, my relationships. Again I am saying doubt all the decisions. Then after the doubt you will be able to act properly. In your case you are so clear. Your doubting is never going to end in understanding. You already concluded I am never going to have understanding and will never understand. Why? The other day I gave an example. If I tell the kids understand everything and enter into life. They will just understand and enter into life. But the so called adult.. I was studying this word adult and adultery. Means what any action done by adult is adultery. That is what they mean. It is very wrong to use the word adult. Ei9ther you should drop the word adult or adultery. In this 2 words at least one should be dropped.

Anyhow let us understand this so called adults. When these adults listen to my same words enter into life with understanding. They conclude I cannot understand so how can I enter into life? Again I am saying doubt the mind and then enter into action with clarity. Kid gets it that I need to understand and then enter into life. He just does it. But adults do not get it. they think I can never enter if I have to understand first.

Your strong faith that you are never going to reach the end makes you compromise with your ignorance. When you feel very strongly you are never going to get enlightened, you feel better let me start my life without the real understandings. Maybe sometime you need to doubt even this idea you are never going to get it. That soldier did not have a strong faith that he will never get the discharge summary. He had a faith. That very faith led him to have the discharge summary. So don’t have a strong conclusion, you will never get it. I am not saying it is around the corner. I am saying it is around you. You don’t even need to go around the corner.

Now sit with this great principle of uncertainty. When you sit your mind will create some thought. Even then the first thing that will come up is the idea of I. then start doubting that I itself. Is this really me? Doubt your very existence, your very certainty of your uncertainty.

Let your Kundalini Awaken and let you all get the uncertainty principle – Maya!
