Prayer. I welcome you all the devotees, disciples, samajis, satsangis sitting with us at this moment around the world in 100s of places. Today our main server is down so I cannot tell the exact number of cities and countries sitting with us in the Satsang today. 11 places through 2 way video conferencing, in cities, countries. Today’s subject is Universe is the reflection of mind!

179th Patanajali Yoga Sutras, 4th chapter 17th verse

Tat Uparaatha apekshitvaath chittasya Vastu gnaat agnyaatam

As I said Swami Vivekananda has not directly translated. But this Sanskrit word that have come in this sutras have appeared in some other place. Based on that his editorial team who knows the thought trend of his thinking. They translated and they presented it. So it is not direct translation of Swami Vivekananda but his editorial team who lived around him for a long time including his close disciples were his editorial team and they did a good job.

Vivekananda: Things are known or unknown to the mind being dependent on the coloring which they give to the mind

Prabhavananda: An object t is known or unknown depending on the mind

Satchitananda: An object is known or unknown depending whether mind gets colored by it

Osho: an object is known or unknown depending on whether the mind is colored by it or not

What is knowing? Let us understand. An ordinary man if he looks at a flower and if he knows, if he remembers the name he was taught about a flower he feels now he knows it. For example you walk through a garden you see a flower and you remember at young age your teacher taught you this is a rose. You remember that and associate that name to the flower in front of you. Immediately you think now you know the rose! But very very foolish way, that just recollecting the name and connecting is knowing, if you think it is a very foolish way! I will describe very detailedly. What is knowing. If you just know the name an ordinary man feels he knows, a person who thinks little deeper he thinks if he knows the color, quality, some more characteristics of the flower he thinks he knows it. Only experts know the quality, chemistry, physiology, all other components responsible for the flower happening, reason for its color, reason for its size, reason for its happening. Only we can say person who knows all these things are experts. As far as the expert is concerned, he feels only if he knows all this, he knows the flower. But an ultimate knower enlightened being he thinks only if he knows the consciousness on which the flower has happened, he knows it. Till then he does not know. Understand. I am describing what is knowing.

An ordinary man thinks if he can bring back to memory its name that was taught in young age he thinks he knows. A person who thinks little deeper he thinks if he knows the facts & figures, how many are there, what is the color, size, then he thinks he knows. Experts think they know only when they k now from top to bottom. Why, what is responsible for the color, size – if they know all the details they think they know. An enlightened being he thinks he knows only when the consciousness on which this whole flower has appeared. The base, root when it is realized only then he thinks he knows. First the knowing itself needs to be understood. Now let us analyze this great sutra and understand all the sacred secrets in it.

“An object is known or unknown depending whether the mind is colored by it or not” you decide whether you know it or don’t know it based on a very superficial way. Don’t decide based on superficial way. Decisions you make based on superficial way knowing something based on superficial way makes suffering! See I ventured getting on to the horse without knowing the whole art, naturally fracture happened. But I ventured into the body knowing the whole art. So no pain or suffering was there ☺ understand, I got onto the horse not knowing the whole art of horse riding. But fortunately I got into the body knowing the whole so it did not lead into the pain or suffering this is one example I gave. When you are clear about what all you don’t know, at least you are clear you don’t get into mess.

When you don’t know that you don’t know, when you think you know but actually you don’t know, the decisions you make gets you directly into bigger & bigger trouble! When you don’t know but you think you know, you get into a big mess. I tell you just because you know the names of all the organs and parts of your body from the lessons or from the primary school teachers teaching, don’t think you know the body. Many time we think we hand, fingers, nail, liver, kidney, back bone, head, brain, skull – you know the names so you think – Oh I know the body! no. you don’t know. People who think little bit they think if they know the physiology I know the body. Experts think if they know the whole why, what, when, where how of each part they know it. But only when you know the source on which every body part is written consciousness you know the body. Our kids should be taught to venture into anything only after they know thoroughly about it. Teach them to get into the body and know the consciousness on which the body is written. Only then they know the body. Adults think they have to lie down for this. adults think they will not be able to do their day to day activity because they have to now lie down whole day and know about it. But kids think what is there by tomorrow morning I will know. They think they be able to do their day to day activity only because they know their body. So child thinks tomorrow I have to go to school but before that Swamiji says I need to know my consciousness and only then I wil be able to move my body. So I will know. The very thinking in kids is innocence based. Your thinking is ignorance based. You conclude even before you try. You think how will I know by tomorrow morning? What kind of rule is this to get enlightened before breakfast?

You are consciously clear you will not know the consciousness by the next day. Look in. honestly you are very clear. That is why you feel it is impractical. Let us do it slowly. But every day you keep postponing to next day. This mental set up of yours which is ignorance based goes on pushing, pushing. Your whole life runs. Not only you do not get enlightened, you are completely convinced you are not responsible for it! that is the biggest problem. The basic rule of life is do anything with anything after knowing everything! How will you know everything? Only if you know the source material you will know everything.

The source material on which your body is written, if you know the source material you know the body. consciousness is source material for everything. If you know that once, anything you look in, you will be able to know! Knowing itself needs a clear understanding. Don’t get into the universe entangle yourself with universe before you know the source material of universe. Don’t think we will take years to get enlightened, to know the source material, then when will I get into the universe? No. it hardly takes few moments. Just few moments! Because the tool for knowing is a unique tool only human beings have, please understand, when the pen to write is with you, you can write anything you want,. When the eyes to se is there with you, you can see anything you want. When the ears to hear you have, you can hear anything you want. Same way understand the tool to know buddhi. In Sanskrit we call Dhi – when you have that you can know anything. Only human beings have Dhi – the ability to know! Unfortunately, your knowledge about knowing is so superficial. The moment you know the names you learnt from the primary school you think you know like if you think you know head, skull, brain, the words you learnt from the primary school you think you know the organ. You know about it! The problem is you get into too many risks thinking you know it. It is like you know names of different parts of the car and you get into the car thinking you know how to handle it! no. knowing the name does not mean you know. But mind gives you the wrong feeling constantly that knowing the name is knowledge! You know something by knowing just the name, you know something by knowing just the superficial words attributed to it or superficial qualities attributed to it, by the superficial averages I cannot even say the word understanding, I can say superficial averages. The superficial averages are not and cannot be the base for decision making. It is like you listen to a statistics. 20% of the Bharatns who get heart attack die, 80% recover. Then you think okay, oh 80% recover. But you don’t understand an important fact that 20% who lost their life their whole life 100% which can never be recovered! Many time the superficial understandings you have about averages. I can give you so many other examples. Many decisions you make based on average is futile. Average is not understanding. At the most it can be a tool to tell you need to understand more. That’s all. Average itself cannot be knowledge. It cannot be knowing. Same way when some medicine is given to people during tests they say 80% people it works. Then how can you call it a medicine? You should say very clearly it can only be a help.

Actually allopathy fellows say religious healing service should be called as healing and theirs is medicine. Actually I tell you it is other way round they should be called healing and we should be called as spiritual medicine! Because we touch every individual. Every individual we handle, we show something solid in them. Ours is knowledge based. Many other systems are average based.

Something has materialized in Oman. Emerald has materialized in Oman!

The sacred secret from this sutra is be very clear what you know, what you don’t know even if you know about the things you don’t know it is a knowledge. Knowing that all these things I don’t know is also a knowledge because you won’t get into the mess. Many times you get into the mess because you don’t know, you don’t know. Knowing the source, consciousness is the ultimate knowing. So all of you sit for few minutes meditating on knowing. Contemplate on this one truth – the ‘dhi’ intelligence to know is there in you then you can know anything you want. If the tool to love in you is there means you can love anybody anything in the world. the tool to know is there in you means you can know anything you want.

Sit to know the consciousness in you. let the kundalini energy in you all be intensely awakened! Let you all experience the awakening of the buddhi – tool of knowing in you all by your intense kundalini awakening! Let the Kundalini awakening in you all be experienced intensely and let the extraordinary experiences and powers become reality in your life!
