“subject: is Siddhis mystical or psychic?”
subject: is Siddhis mystical or psychic? They are mystical and beyond psychic. Please understand the word psychic is too small to cover the extraordinary happening, expressions by the Siddhas. It is a great miracle science the science of making extraordinary things into reality. Just wanted to give you one example, when they describe the concept itself they add a technique.
There is a very beautiful verse from Idaikkadar a siddha from my village. (he quotes a tamil verse) The literal meaning of this verse is -
“There was a gardener, he was a poor guy, he went to the gardner and begged, begged, begged for 10 months – 4+6 months, finally he got a pot to pour water to the plants. After he got the pot, he was so ecstatic with joy saying I have so many plants, will have so many vegetables, dancing dancing he broke the pot itself! “
Understand that here the individual consciousness is the gardener, Brahma, the creator is the pot maker, 10 months you begged staying inside your mother’s womb and got a pot which is your body. What for – for using this pot to pour water, make the garden and make lot of vegetables! But unfortunately after landing in the body, after getting the body you get so excited and jump around - oh I got such a beautiful body, I got such nice color on this body, I have that in this body, and so on, forgetting the praarabhdha for which you got the pot, collecting the aagaamya instead and finally breaking the pot - means what - leaving the body!
Understand just in 4 lines in a simple way he described a great philosophical truth. We got the body, forgot the purpose, run around here and there and then break the pot itself.
Same way, we did not have a body that can give enlightenment. Again & again we begged Brahma to give it, but when we got it we forget why we asked for it and run around showing the body everywhere, dancing with it, running, running with it and finally without growing any vegetable we just leave it! If you look deeper into this verse, understand that there are 3 layers. In the 1st layer this is just a simple village folk song. In the 2nd layer it is a deep profound mystical deeper truth. In the 3rd layer you will see only if you experience the consciousness of a siddha you will understand the secret of the technique he has embedded in this verse. If you are a simple folk you will get the 1st layer understanding. If you are little deeper, you will get the deeper truth in it, you are consciousness that brahma gave you, but you waste it by glorifying the glory of your pot, keeping it on the head and dancing around with it and finally break it, over! – this is a mystical truth.
The 3rd important layer there is a technique in it. When you are made to understand this mystical truth for few seconds you will feel oh god right, what he is saying is right – I got a body and run around till it is broken like everybody else! For a few seconds only you will have it. After few seconds some other justification comes. Till then only for few seconds you will have that clarity. See there are 3 types of vairaagyas - 3 types of renunciations.
The first is Markata vairaagya – means monkey renunciation. A monkey when it plucks a fruit or when a thorn pricks it and it gets hurt, for few moments it will have vairaagya. It then thinks - because of this fruit only this happens, I will leave it, I will no more crave for this fruit. But it comes back when another fruit falls in its hand!
The second is Garbakaala vairaagya – during the delivery when the mother thinks – oh god! It is all because of what we know. No more. Enough of this. But the moment the child is born and the wound is healed she is back to normal life and ready for the next baby!
The third is Maaranakaala vairagya – if your close near & dear one die, that will create a strong impact on you maybe for one full year or full whole life.
Usually when this kind of great truths are given to you, normal man will have just the markata vairaagya – just for few moments it will be there. If you are a evolved seeker, this small truth will create the garbakaaka vairaagya but if you are ready and ripe, this will create the maaranakaala vairagya.
There was a great siddha Pattinathar – just one word, his adopted son wrote in a small palm leaf – the Pattinathar was so much possessed about wealth, wealth, wealth – he belonged to a chettiyaar family – vysyas – always possessed by wealth. This guy had an adopted son, you need to understand the whole story. The adopted son goes for making wealth outside Bharat to different countries that’s how they live and make money. When the adopted son comes back all his friends come and say we brought diamonds and your son bought only cow dung cakes. He was mad with anger. He ran in anger and broke every cow dung cake and saw everything is filled with diamond and gold. He thought oh god my son is so intelligent he need not pay tax this way. He runs home. When he came the wife said that their son had come just now and gave a letter for him to read and their son said he is going to temple. This guy is most excited that he is wealthiest man in the world now, he is too thrilled at thought of having so much wealth with him.
He read that letter in that intense excitement. The letter says – even the needle with or (needle is useless without the small hole ) without the ears or the hole will not come with you till the end, will not show you the ultimate reality! In that ultimate excitement, this truth straight away sunk into his system! Wealth has the capacity of destroying all other engrams including sexual engrams. Because it is a man made engram, that engram can swallow all the natural engrams. That is why people who work in the line of wealth forget everything – all pleasures like family, relationships. Even the pleasures which they try to enjoy are like itching. That is why all wealthy people who create wealth HAVE to be womanizers. Fellows who run around wealth and create wealth it is too much for them – it is like they will not be able to take care of family or all other engrams in their life. So they sacrifice everything and finally when they are full of it, they think what else can I do to enjoy more – so they get used to alcohol and women.
This guy was like that and this one thought hit him hard! So he just threw away everything on the streets. He says even daana will make me have an indirect attachment with what I have because then I will start judging whom to give, how much to give which means I will retain the sense of ownership for the wealth.
My great grandfather – this fellow got into maarana vairaagya due to some reason (,my grandfather’s father) it seems some maybe the house situation or something. This fellow did the same thing he took the box where all jewels are kept, threw them away on the street. Ran to village well, took bath and ran away to Varanasi.
Even when you distribute things in daana, when you are doing daana, you will think – I think this fellow needs less, this more, you will feel the ownership that you own the wealth to give. So this Pattinathar throws away everything on the street and became a great siddhar. He gets a disciple – Bhadragiri – it is the place the king was so inspired by this Pattinathar. One day he invites him to his place for a feast. Pattinathar says I will come to your place, but I will beg and eat on the street. Pattinathar goes and then begs for food on the street. One of his relatives feels so bad that this fellow goes to palace, comes out without eating, standing in the street for begging, family name spoilt. He feels it will be better if he dies and family name will be protected and how all top society is laughing at them. So he decides to give poisoned food to Pattinathar. When Pattinathar gets the food, the snake – aadi shesha – appears in the food and says don’t eat this has poison. He throws the food into the relatives house and says – his karma will burn him and the useless food will burn the house. That moment the house is on fire and starts spreading! Then the king rushes to the spot and falls at the feet of Pattinathar and he also experiences the3rd level vairaagya – the maaranakaala vairaagya. He goes with Pattinathar and in one temple Pattinathar sits on one side and bhadrigiri sits in the other side and eats. Pattinathar eats in hand, but bhadragiri being a king not used to eating in hand, has a small mud plate. So he had little more food left in the plate. One day he had extra food which he gave to a small dog. So everyday excess quantity he started giving to the dog. Slowly the dog got attached to him. And slowly slowly everyday he started getting little more food for the dog also. One day shiva himself came in the form of a saadhu and asked Pattinathar – I am a saadhu pl give me food. Pattinathar says I myself am a beggar and a saadhu but I know there is a grihastha at the other end – ask him. This saadhu goes to bhadragiri and asks for food. Bhadragiri says I am also a saadhu. Then shiva says no no your master said you are a grihastha. Then the truth hits him again and he says – oh god! This mud pot to eat and the street dog which eats from me – these 2 have made me a man with bondage? I lost my sanyashood because of these two. He throws the mud pot and unfortunately the pot falls on the dog’s head and both dies. He gets the click. The dog takes next birth as the daughter of kaasi raja. When she was about to get married, she remembers and says no I have a guru who brought me up, give me to him and he will lead me to ultimate liberation. Kaasi raja verifies all the facts. And he puts her in front of the ex-king. The ex-king takes the ex-dog and the present princess to Pattinathar and told him – she ate what I gave and also she ate some food from your remaining food – this is called Uchishta. He asks someone who ate your remainder can that person have one more birth? Is this your leela? If you are claiming what you are, then how can the dog have one more birth? Then Pattinathar laughs and blows his feet dust on both the king and the princess and they both become enlightened!
In this story tow things we can get – 1- The Pattinathar’s vairagya and 2 - The king’s vairaagya in 2 parts. In this song which I was describing, there is a technique to make the markata vairaagya to garbhakaala vairaagya to maaranakaala vairaagya. You may think how. Only if you read between lines you will understand. When first this understanding is given to you, you may have the 1st layer markata vairaagya. You may think – how true, finally these fellows have to die only, what is the use, you make all money, destroy all enemies and earn wealth, have one wife in one one street finally what will happen. Maybe one statue will be built for you in marina beach which will be toilet for crows. Those few moments of vairaagya and non-mechanical parts of your brain get awakened – when you are then hit by the pot, understand whenever you think of any higher truth or clicks with you, non-mechanical parts of your brain gets awakened. So when you are having the 1st level markata vairaagya and if you are feeling oh god and then literally the mud pot has to be broken on your head that shake and shock will awaken the non-mechanical parts of your brain to awaken to make the 1st level markata vairaagya to the 2nd level garbhakaala vairaagya. Zen use this technique. They use a stick. If a disciple comes and master says something and it clicks, then the master immediately hits hard on the sahasrara. It is a technique. even Osho such a sophisticated master used it. There are enough examples, close disciples when they get the truth he would hit them with stick and the non-mechanical parts of the brain stay awakened for long time, they get embedded. And the 2nd level garbhakaala vairaagya to the 3rd level maaranakaala vairaagya , if you keep a pot on the head and break that pot with another one pot, means a very subtle shock is given – it is a very subtle process I am describing so you understand. I will prove the power of this process. I will break a mud pot on somebody’s head and show how it awakens the non-mechanical parts of the brain. For example, if you click with the idea of boundarylessness, what is boundary, how can you say your life ends with this skin – NO. if you say this your boundary then seal it. Come on seal it and live with yourself – You can’t. The very life with which you feel boundary is from boundarilessness. So how can you say you have boundary? No. it is just something is going in you, comes out and in that whole chaos you catch a small place and call – my boundary. In rainy season, kids will make a paper boat, put it in water and they will play. If other kids comes in their boundary they will say – it is my boundary and grab other boats. When you look at that you think it is foolish. But you do the same thing. In this vast number of bodies, you catch this small space and say it is my boundary and the paper boat you play with is money. You earn all the paper boats and put it in bank. Just like how any paper boat put in water for 10 minutes will sink, same way the other also will go. If you understand this, you will get one part of your brain which is the non-mechanical part of your brain will get awakened – just below the parietal lobe in your brain. I take a concept and scan when this becomes reality, I see which non-mechanical part of the brain gets alive. For me everything is awakened so I don’t know what causes what. So I shut down everything and then consciously scan and check. The part below the parietal lobe and above the neck – that area lights up, I will prove this lights up and then I will break that pot and prove when the pot is hit how the subtle shock makes that part to be awakened permanently. Then I will keep pot on pot and break it to show a even more subtler process. Siddhas are doers. They are not maayavaadi illusioinists. No. if a pot is kept and broken by another one pot, then more subtlest vibration is sent inside the body.
I have seen this Raghupati yogi will do this game. He will use a simple ordinary village herb used for puja. He will keep it between the teeth and go on breaking coconuts on the head. I have seen. Nothing will happen to the head only coconuts will be broken. Funny thing is if someone does not levitate in the yoga he teaches in the hall, he will break coconut on them. Outside that hall only that herb will be there. He will tell them go get it, put it in mouth and break coconut on his head! Another funny thing he will do is he will keep one coconut and another coconut which needs to be little heated up and breaks both the coconut with this coconut. He will ask pet dog to piss on the coconut for the heat and break both the coconuts and this fellow will start levitating automatically! If you can heat coconut it will break easily. I was really shocked. But siddhas have their own techniques.
Essence is whatever siddhas are using is a great science and all there verses have layers & layers of different meaning. Understand anything a siddha does has meaning including beating. If you are fortunate enough to be in the surrender mood, even his simple beating can awaken the non-mechanical parts of your brain forever. Siddhis the extraordinary science beyond psychic powers! Physic powers are more like mind over matter. Siddhis are like consciousness over consciousness. It is not ordinary. So understand, siddhas, siddha purushas, their actions should not be measured by our ordinary intellect. Their experiences should not be measured by our ordinary mind. It has to be dived, dwelled, meditated and experienced. I bless you all to experience the siddha consciousness.
Blessings!
