“Q: There are many palm readers in Bharat, how do we find a good one?”
Q: There are many palm readers in Bharat, how do we find a good one?
A: Go to the traditional place, Sri Vaideeswaran Temple. That is the place where the old, the original things are there as they existed originally. Sometimes the next generation guys just copy the work and start their own shop. It does not work out. It doesn’t work usually.
Q: Can I have a new name? First my sister has a new name then my mom, my brothers, so why not me?
A: Who put this question? Oh, okay, okay. I’ll give you. I’ll give you.
Your elderly parents came inside earlier and I told them to do a meditation camp because their whole logic needed to be cleaned. Do you see why the new name and all was given? When a psychological revolution happen inside you, again and again if you remember the old name you go back to the old identity. A new name is part of the same technique that Mahadeva was teaching. Mahadeva said, ‘As a hen mothers her chicks, mother particular knowings, particular doings, in reality.’ The new name which I gave, this spiritual name is like constantly reminding you to mother the psychological revolution which has happened in you. The new life, new understanding which happened in you, you constantly mother that. Constantly you remember it. That is why the new name. So kids can have it also. They already have had the psychological revolution inside, only we should not make them doubtful.
Q: I was chanting Shri Yantra (?2:19) yesterday and I had the experience of you looking through my awareness.
A: Whenever you are in high awareness I am looking through your awareness. Understand, whenever you are high awareness, you are connected to Master.
Q: Did I understand you correctly yesterday when you said that the ego makes the illusion of ownership of all actions; whereas, in reality it is the gunas and karmas that actually do the actions?
A: Even your understanding of gunas and karmas is not complete. Understand this statement. Only in illusion and ego you have the ownership. In reality things just beautifully move without even your awareness. Notice how your breathing is happening. Fortunately, God did not give us too much work. All responsible things He performs like an automatic machine. He handles all complex things like a blood circulation, breathing and all. These critical things He did not give to us to manage; otherwise, long before this we would have messed up. Long before this we would have messed up. Whatever He gives to us we messed it up. And some good things, fortunately, He did not give in our hands. Only these things are happening properly.
So these two sutras I think we have practically covered. I can give you the essence, the jest of the whole teaching, what Shiva is trying to convey, trying to express to us. Then, we’ll enter into the meditation.
Here is the spear of change. ‘Change, change, through change consume change.’ This means that inside us there is microcosmic chaos, and outside is macrocosmic chaos. The chaos is trying to understand the chaos. Chaos is trying to live with the chaos. Continuously what is changing is trying to live with another one thing that is constantly changing. It’s like you are running towards your goal and the goal is running towards something else. When will you catch it? Never. So, the whole thing is just chaos. Suddenly, the moment you are about to catch your goal, it starts flying instead of running. And that is the way the life is. We are continuously trying to catch the chaos. Mahadeva says, understand, ‘Continuously our internal world is changing and our external world is changing. If we start living the external changing world through the internal changing world we will suddenly see that non-changing, eternal pure consciousness in us. That pure consciousness gives us tremendous freedom. Understand, even before experiencing pure consciousness, just this very understanding that the whole thing is chaos; then, what is there to do?
In beautiful words, Socrates was asked by someone before taking his poison, ‘Are you not afraid that you are going to be killed tomorrow morning?’ Socrates says, wonderfully, ‘I will either die or I will disappear and there’ll be nothing after death. Then what is there to be afraid of, who is going to suffer? There is nothing to fear. Or, I may exist in some form, some way in some place either heaven or hell or some other place or have another birth or some such thing. Then, in some way I will exist. So naturally, then why be afraid? I’m going to exist. I’m going to continue to be alive or I’m going to be extinct and disappear. Then what is there to be afraid of? There nothing to fear because who is going to suffer? Only if we exist is there the possibility of suffering; then there could be fear. Otherwise, it is just over, the end and what is there? There’s nothing. Or, in the other case I’m going to continue to exist and then what is there to be afraid of? I’m going to be there. Whether I am going to exist or end, there is no need for fear. I am going to be there.’
The truth is truth. Whether we are going to continue to have so many janmas or going to disappear, different changes are happening inside our inner consciousness. Consciousness is like a screen and the changes are like scenes. If we are seeing the world in the screen, the screen will never be the world. Understand, if we are seeing a flood on the screen, the screen will never be flooded. So, our suffering will not become consciousness. Because all we need is cup of water. All we need is a cup of water. When we have fear of death, we just have a cup of water. Because the moment we have the thought, the moment we are able to have the thought of having a cup of water, the fear has disappeared. We have replaced the fear of death. Then just laugh at the fear, aah. The fear cannot even stand our thought of having a cup of water. It completely left, vacated its place inside.
For example, if someone is coming in, vacating your seat means you are not able to remain for whatever the reason including fear or hatred or whatever. We just vacate the seat. The moment we vacate it we prove that we are not capable, we are not able, to stand the other’s presence. So, the moment we have the thought of drinking a cup of coffee, and water, already our fear has left us. Unless it leaves, we cannot have a second thought. Understand? Fortunately we can have only one thought at a time. Even with only one thought, see how many problems we have created. Anyhow, because of that the moment another thought comes the old fear disappears. Then laugh at your fear.
Mother this right experience. We should mother the experiences which lead us to reality. Mother the experiences which lead us to strength. Mother the experiences which lead us to courage. Mother the experiences which lead us to bliss. So, mother the right experiences. The first sutra says how to enter into the understanding. The second sutra says how to mother, how to care for that experience. As of now we always mother the negative things. ‘Oh, no my fear is going to come. Whatever is said and done it will come back. This Swami is telling, it is okay for him, he’s enlightened. Anyhow for me it will come back in ten minutes.’ Whatever you are mothering continuously will come back. You see, the moment the thought has left it’s like that e-mail has been trashed. But again we are trying to bring it back from the bulk folder. We are trying to bring it back from trash again. Empty the trash also. Don’t try to bring it back. Don’t try to bring it back and add something to it. Don’t add it to your inner space. See that you are completely trashing it, emptying it. Even the trash should be empty. And the thoughts should leave. And in the new space, new thoughts will come,
New thoughts get replaced. Just understand this one capability. We are capable of replacing any depression. We are capable of replacing any fear. We are capable of replacing any greed. We are capable of replacing any thought. That one clarity gives us tremendous freedom, liberation. Understand, achieve and live it. Just try to sit with yourself for few minutes, experimenting with this thought: consume the change through change. This means, see everything outside as also changing, everything inside as also changing. Continuously, even when we try to be silent thoughts are coming. If thoughts are coming then we try to be silent. Even the thought of trying to be silent comes to us after a thought comes. So, trying to be silent is one more thought. Thought and trying to be without thought. Thought and trying to be without thought, so it’s a continuous change.
Enjoy that change for next few minutes. So that we can carry that understanding that change is continuously happening in us, within us. Please sit straight. Close your eyes. Remember that changes are continuously happening (1 minute silence). Just see inside your inner space. You are trying to be silent and you are silent. Again you are trying to be silent and you are silent, and some thoughts. Then you are trying to be silent. Then you are silent. See the continuous changes happening inside. Enjoy the changes happening inside (4 minutes silence). Don’t try to meditate, concentrate or anything, contemplate. Just understand continuously things are changing in you. That’s all you need to understand. How much you try, things are going to change. Trying is also one more change. Whole thing is continuously changing. Have that understanding (1 minute silence). Om, shanti, shanti, shantihi. Now the next technique is to mother this same understanding. Carry this understanding continuously. Whatever you do, wherever you go, whatever you face in the internal and external world, carry this understanding: everything changes. Consume the change through the change. Remember everything changes. With that enjoy everything which is changing. Grab and swallow everything which is changing by the change. Let you all achieve and radiate the eternal bliss, nithyananda. Thank you.
