“Arathi is treating the deity as a royal personality.”
Arathi is treating the deity as a royal personality. Giving respect and gratitude treating the deity as a royalty. If an unexpected guest comes to your house, how will you treat him? Achamanyam, naturally, you will give water to wash the feet. Asanam samarpayami, you’ll give a sit. The same thing we do in Puja, badhyam samarpayami, water to wash the feet. Achamanyam samarpayami, you ask them, do you want to use the wash room? To wash the face, to wash the mouth. Achamanyam means the water to wash the face and mouth. Water to wash the feet is badhyam.
Basically this Puja is from Vedic tradition. Advaita Parampara. We are basically advaitees. Advaithees means, goal of our life is enlightenment not just darshan of god. Experiencing the Divine inside us is the goal. Not only seeing the divine in the form, which is the first step, savilkalpa samadhi. From should not be the ultimate. Sankaracharya is the master who systematized the teachings of advaitha. Advaitha philosophy is 12000 years old, much older than Sankara. But he is the first to have created a whole system.
That why we say Sadaashiva samaarambhaam shankaraachaarya madhyamaam, Asmadaachaarya paryantam - vande guru paramparaam means from Sadaashiva, mahadeva. Shiva is the first master who brought the enlightenment on planet earth, to Sankara, to my master. vande guru paramparaam, till my master, I bow down to this lineage.
If you are initiated into healing, you should do Guru Puja every day, means, Nithya Dhyan. You should not miss one day.
Use a mattress made of gruho (?) grass. They will make mats out of it.
Nithyaanandam parama sukhadam - kevalam gnaanamoorthim, Dvandvaateetam gagana sadrusham - tatvamasyaadi lakshyam Ekam nithyam vimalam achalam - sarvadhee saakshi bhootam Bhaavaateetam triguna rahitam - sadgurum tam namaami
This is the dhyana Sloka. Beautiful meaning.
Nithyaanandam parama sukhadam master who is always in eternal bliss, in comfort, ultimate comfort will never come by outside things, it will be taken away. Ultimate comfort can come only by feeling the homeliness. You are meditating on the master now. Kurma mudra, tortoise mudra Why? Tortoise has one power it can concentrate within one second, and can withdraw its 5 senses at once. Leg, head…means you pull all your senses inside. You just take your whole mind inside, like a tortoise. Means, pratiagyara, collecting your mind and put it in anandha gandha. Stopping the wandering of the mind. Visualize you are a tortoise, visualize the master blissful form and start chanting. Nithyaanandam parama sukhadam - kevalam gnaanamoorthim, means who is always in pure bliss, homely, gnaana means pure knowledge, Dvandvaateetam gagana sadrusham you are beyond duality. gagana sadrusham you are beyond the world, you see the world but you are not seen by the world, that is what is called sadrisham. Master can see the world but the world can’t see master. You can’t understand him as he is. tatvamasyaadi lakshyam who leads you to the same state. Tat vam asy You are that, lakshyam who leads you to that goal, ultimate truth gives you that enlightenment. That meaning is so beautiful. You just need to remember that deep feeling, remembering it is enough to be in the enlightenment zone. And you are ready for your day. Ekam nithyam that is eternal, everything else will go away, vimalam achalam the embodiment of purity, achalam means Immovable Mountain, imam means ice, mountain of ice, vimalam achalam you are the immovable mountain of purity, such an embodiment of pure energy. Usually we call enlightenment masters sachalas murthis, which can move. sarvadhee saakshi bhootam, dhee means individual consciousness that brings you again and again to the pure inner space, this energy which gives you the right solution whenever it is needed. ‘Dhee’, like buddhi for ex you are depressed, buddhi says you are neither depressed nor sick, that is buddhi, dhee. sarvadhee saakshi bhootam he is residing in every body, as a dhee, bringing you back to enlightenment again and again. Dhee is the energy that stays in your heart and brings you back to enlightenment, witnessing consciousness. Bhaavaateetam means he is beyond any bhava, he responds to you as you want to see him. I’m like a mirror. He is beyond that, you can’t classify master. No frame. triguna rahitam beyond all three gunas, rahitam translation is flirting. Master is the person who can flirt with the three gunas, can touch them but be free. sadgurum tam namaami let me offer myself at the feet of the Sadguru who is the embodiment of all this qualities. You don’t need other meditation if you remember this meaning throughout the day. Now you know an intelligent, supreme energy is there. That’s all. Nothing more.
hridhpadmam aasanam dadhyaat this original sutras is from tantric tradition. Hrdaya is the heart which is pumping the blood in your system. Hrd is not the physical manifestation but the center of our being. When you close you eyes and remember your name, First where you feel the touch, the part of your body, hrd is where you feel you. Hrd is anadha gandha. Where you feel you. Paadyam charanayor dadhyaat- charana means the feet. Water to wash the feet. manastu arghyam nivedayet- manastu is plural word. Minds..manas you don’t have one mind. You have a part of the mind of all the people around you. All the minds you offer it as arghya. Thena amruthena aachamaneeyam - the nectar from sahasrara which comes from gratitude or deep connection with the master. With this, I offer to wash the face. snaaneeyam tena cha smrutam- I offer for the complete bathing. Let you whole body be flooded by the feeling of ecstasy. Aakaasha tatvam vastram syaat- akaasha tattva is the vastram. Our Parampara is of the nagas. We are nagas. We wear clothes because we are non violent to the onlooker. Irritating or making the other uncomfortable is violence. We need to look decent, this is non violence. For this sake, the nagas are allowed to wear clothes. Otherwise, the sky is their clothes. Clothes and you mind are very closely connected. That is why all major discoveries happen in bathrooms. Because when you remove the dress, your conscious possibilities are much more. 80 % more. The whole sky I offer as a cloth for you. What else can we offer? He is such a being, only akasha can be given! gandha syaat gandha tatvakam- sandal paste the whole planet earth is a kumkum for him everything belongs to him. Chittam prakalpayet pushpam- all your engrams, you offer it as a pushpa. Good or bad memories, you offer as a pushpa. dhoopam praanaan prakalpayet- dhoopam means incense. Your very breathing, you offer as an incense. What for you are breathing now, to make him feel good. Means your whole life is made for the divine. Breathe only for him. Let him breathe as he wants. Tejas tatvam cha deepaartham- the light that shines without any outside source. The source less effulgent light. Surya is not tejas. Scientific says surya may cool down, after few million years. He’s got a source. The only sources less light is Atma . That is deepaartham, arathi. You offer your very soul, very consciousness very individual feeling of I as an arathi to him. One more deep level meaning, according to advaitha, the individual consciousness is the reflection of the super consciousness in the mirror of your body mind. If your body mind is polished so deeply, your consciousness reflects and that reflection is individual consciousness. Animal don’t have individual consciousness. You offer that reflection directly towards the source itself. You turn yourself towards your enlightenment. Arathi. Now your individual consciousness is turned towards so many directions, I am this that…If it is used this way, you are seeing the source. You use that light to see the God. The individual consciousness is the light to see the God. Enlightenment. What you think as you, should be directed to see the light. Tejas tatvam cha deepaartham -The source less light which is in me is the light to see the God. naivedyam syaat sudhaam budhihi – sudha buddhi means the pure intelligence is the food offered to God, is the naivedya. sudha buddhi means living spontaneously. Anaahata dhvanir ghantaa- Anaahata dhvanir the sound that you hear in your heart when you are silent, when your mind is not crowded by thoughts. The vibration of your very being. There will be a kind of a sound. Mmmmmm. This OM sound. Anahata means uncreated sound; anahata dhvanir is the bell for Puja. You should be drowned by the inner sound. There can’t be any worries or thoughts. vaayu tatvam cha chaamaram- inside you there is 5 pranas, five vayus. Now I am talking about vayu tatvam. Going in, stay in; spreading all over, coming out, and cleaning, this five air activity is the chamaram for him. You are offering as a chamaram for him. Chamaram means fan. shabda tatvam cha geetakam- we should maintain the purity of our words, whatever comes out of the throat is a song sung for master. Only healing words should come out. Nrutyamindriya karmaani- all the movements of your body is a dance you perform in front of him. It means you can not have ugly body language. Your whole body language should be graceful. Dance you are performing to please him. Whatever you do is a dance you are performing to please him. Decide today, everything you do will be done with patience and graceful way. chaanchalyam manasasthathaa- all the movement of the mind is also a dance performed. Indryas movements and mind movements are performed for Mahadeva. Sumeykhalaam padma maalaam- your backbone structure, Sumeykhalaam, seven chakra are there, sumeru nadi (?)has got all seven yoga as a lotus that is padma maalaam, lotus garland. My 7 chakras lotus I put as a lotus garland for you. We should offer cleaned chakras. The cleaning of the chakras happens through cognitive shift. Reading Guaranteed solutions will start clearing your mind. pushpam naanaa vidham tathaa- there are minor chakras which are offered as pushpas.
Sumeykhalaam padma maalaam - pushpam naanaa vidham tathaa Amaayaadyair bhaava pushpaihi - archayet bhaava kosharam Amaayam anahankaaram - araagam amadam tathaa Amohakam adam bhyam cha - adveysha akshobhakau tathaa Amaatsaryam alobham cha - dasha pushpam vidurbhudhaa Ten pushpas. First is Amaayaa, means your being which is not an illusion. Illusion means, agitated mood, irritated mood. Means living completely with the reality. Today we don’t have the exact translation of maya. Maya is which is not there but threatens as if it is there. Ex: of the snake and rope, your fear engrams make the rope appear as a snake, Fear engrams and lust engrams have power to give life to the outer world. If your fear engrams are given power, it is called maya. If lust engrams are given power, it is called raga. You can’t be in illusion if you are in maya. Ahankaran is ego. The identity we show to the outer world. How we believe ourselves to be in the inner world is mamakaram. Not being caught in arrogance, not being caught in one identity which society wants you. Amaayam anahankaaram-not trying to fit yourself in one identity. If you don’t have irritation, you don’t have ahamkara. araagam amadam tathaa- not giving power to your fantasies. When your body gets filled with the power to actively involve itself in sexual pleasure, when your body has enough energy to enter into the sexual act, the same fantasy the same visualization will appear so much, will fill your inner space so much, but after the act is over, after the release of the fluids, the same fantasy does not have the same influence on your inner space. The energy which empowers your fantasies along with your hormonal build is called raga. There is different kind of NRJ in all of us. 43 together. When you integrate then towards one direction, you are enlightened. When the power is about to give life to these all fantasies, your whole body will have a special energy. If you do not allow those fantasies to become active, these all energy will stay with you for ever. araagam amadam tathaa-amadam means, projecting the fantasies on another person. Trying to bend and alter that person according to your fantasies is what is called mada. Not having this fantasy and trying to alter. Amohakam adam bhyam cha - moha is different of raga. Moha means giving life to all the fantasies you collected and trying to create new new fantasies related to human beings. No fantasies will excite you more than 4-5 times. So you collect a new fantasy, which is moha. Ma means mind hoka means the reality. Ahoka means living in non reality and expanding the zone of non reality, in your inner space. adam bha means, the territory related to the outer world wealth. Ex: big car… Adveysha- non violence. Not having dveysha, arrogance. akshobhakau –kshobha menas projecting what is not there, ex: cosmetic surgery is kshoba. Amaatsaryam alobham cha - maatsaryam means impurity, Amaatsaryam means purity. alobham cha is miserliness, calculating your life in function of the money which you make without giving space to the joy is alobha. dasha pushpam vidurbhudhaa- these ten pushpas are offered at the feet of the Master.
Then again five more flowers.
Ahimsa paramam pushpam - non violence is the ultimate pushpa. pushpam indriya nigrahaha- indriya nigrahaha- means saying no to your senses. Dayaa pushpam kshamaa pushpam – daya, compassion. The ulterior flowers were negative qualities, these are positive qualities. kshamaa pushpam- living in balance, living cool is kshama. jnaana pushpam cha panchamam- the ultimate enlightenment is the fifth flower. Iti panchadashair bhaava pushpaihi - the 15 flowers. sampoojayet sadgurum- sampoojayet means I offer the whole thing. Everything I offer to the Master. Anybody who can offer all these things will be master by himself. That is why we keep the flower on your head during manasa Puja, because you are worshipping your own self, or the Sadguru which is in you and is your own self.
Once you understand the meaning and along with the chanting have the click, this is enough. Remembrance is enough.
Om hridhpadmam aasanam dadhyaat - what you think as yourself, your center, let that be the sit for him. sahasraar achutaamrutaihi Paadyam charanayor dadhyaat- the sweet nectar which uyou experimec in your system ,the moment you remember the master and his presence and leelas is the nectar to wash his feet. manastu arghyam nivedayet- the mind all the minds you have is the arghya to be offered at his feet. Tejas tatvam cha deepaartham – the source less light that shines that shines in your being is the light to have his darshan. naivedyam syaat sudhaam budhihi- the offering food is the pure intelligence. Anaahata dhvanir ghantaa - unheard sound which happens in you continuously is the bell for the Puja. vaayu tatvam cha chaamaram- the air which happen in you , is chamaran for him Sahasraaram bhavet chatram - fully blossomed sahasrara with gratitude towards the master is the umbrella to the master. shabda tatvam cha geetakam- the energy which converts the air into air in the throat is the music for him. WHAT IS GURU PUJA…
This puja is from the Vedic tradition, from the Advaita Parampara – lineage of advaitees – non-dualists; where the goal of our life is enlightenment and not just darshan or seeing of God. Experiencing the Divine inside us is the goal.
Above Kurma Mudra pics
Visualise your inner space to be a seat at your heart chakra. Take a flower in your hand, hold it with kurma mudra, close your eyes, meditate on the Master and chant the mantra. Kurma means tortoise. This mudra signifies your inner space. The tortoise has the power to go into concentration within one second. It can withdraw its five senses at once! When it withdraws its leg and head inside its shell, it symbolises pulling all your senses inside in a moment. You just take your whole mind within you like a withdrawing tortoise. Just stop the wandering of the mind. Visualize you are a tortoise; visualize the Master’s blissful form and start chanting.
OBESIANCE TO THE LINEAGE OF MASTERS…
Shiva is the first Master who brought enlightenment to planet Earth. Sankaracharya is the Master who systematized the teachings of advaitha – non-duality.

Page 13 – add this as last para
You don’t need any meditation if you remember the meaning of this mantra throughout the day. You will simply know that an intelligent, supreme energy is there. That’s all. Nothing more is needed.
Page 16 – Add as first line under explanation:
These original sutras are from the Tantric tradition.
Hrid padmama….: The heart referred here refers to the center of your being – the place where you feel yourself when you close your eyes and remember your name.
Page 16 – sahasrar – After first sentence, add this:

Page 17 – Remove first sentence and include this instead. Put remaining as second paragraph.
The light that shines without any outside source, the source-less effulgent light is tejas. Even Surya, the Sun, is not tejas. Scientific research says that Surya may cool down after few million years. He has got a source. The only sources-less light is the Atma – the soul or the individual consciousness. That we offer as arati. We offer our very soul, our very consciousness, the very individual feeling of ‘I’ as an arati to Him.
Another deeper level meaning according to Advaita – philosophy of non-duality – is, the individual consciousness is the reflection of the super consciousness in the mirror of your body mind. If your body mind is polished so deeply, your consciousness reflects and that reflection is the individual consciousness. You offer that reflection directly towards the source itself. You turn yourself towards your enlightenment. Now your individual consciousness is directed in so many directions: I am this…I am that…Instead, if it is used this way, you see the source. You use that light to see God. The individual consciousness is the light to see God or Enlightenment. What you think as you, should be directed to see that Light. Tejas tatvam cha deepaartham -The source-less light which is in me is the light to see God.

Page 18 – nrutyamindriya: All the movements of your body are a dance that you perform in front of Him. It means that you can not have ugly body language! The cleaning of the chakras happens through a cognitive shift.
Page 18 – end of first sentence, add this: emotions associated with the ten minor chakras.
Page 19 – amaayam anahankaram – Use this as second sentence: It is the identity that we show to the outer world.

When your body gets filled with the power to actively involve itself in sexual pleasure, when your body has enough energy to enter into the sexual act, the same fantasy, the same visualization will fill your inner space so much, but after the act is over, after the release of the fluids, the same fantasy does not have the same influence on your inner space. The energy which empowers your fantasies along with your hormonal build is called raga. When the power is about to give life to these fantasies, your whole body will have a special energy. If you do not allow those fantasies to become active, these energies will stay with you for ever.

Anybody who can offer all these things will be a Master by himself. That is why we keep the flower on the head during the Manasa Puja, because you are worshipping your own Self or the Satguru which is in you and is your own Self.
