Prayer. Welcome. Today I will continue on the same sutra
101st sutra, 2nd chapter – 50th verse -
Baahya abhyaantara stambha vridhihi desa kala sankhyabhihi paridrushta deergha sookshmaha
Whatever maybe the movement of the praana whether air is going external or is outward please understand, when your lungs are empty it is called baahya. Abhyaantara when your lungs are filled it is internal – inward. Whether it is external, internal or suspended – it is just standing without any movement, whatever maybe the spot, whatever maybe the time, whatever number of times you may need to stop, stop as much as you can to regulate the life breath. Still I have not translated this sutra perfectly. I have tried. Such vast intense rich poetic theological afforisms naturally cannot be translated. Vedic tradition is the first tradition which does theology in poetry. There are many religions that teach theology but it will always be in prose. For J.K. it is easy to teach theology because British English. Theology can be taught in prose. Sacred sentiments can be expressed in poetry. But vedic tradition has first time started doing something unique. In poetry they have started teaching theology. If you have not lost the quality of a poet, you are not corrupted by the violence of theology. All theology is based on one sided understanding of truth. When I say ALL I mean ALL. All theology is based on one sided understanding of truth. Nothing wrong. Only from All theology is based on one sided understanding of truth, you can reach the ultimate. Path has to always be one sided. Then when you reach the ultimate you will know all theologies even the wildest crudest practiced somewhere by some tribe has aspect of truth in it. You will realize this after achieving the truth. All theology is based on one sided dimension of truth. But most unfortunate thing is the power of theology, the power of prose makes you fanatic.
Please understand the more & more technical definitions that get into your head, you will become fanatic. Lawyers, doctors, engineers feel in the whole world nothing but what they practice as prose exist. In any field, the prose and the explanations of technical terms make you fanatic. It is the most unfortunate dangerous thing that can happen to the intellectual mind! The fanaticism lands on people who are filled with prose. They understand only the prose and not the pros and cons. The technical knowledge you have should not make you think that is ALL is the world. in any field if you have technical knowledge you think with that you can handle your whole life. NO. you think you can handle all dimensions of your life. NO.
Some of the major researches are showing – one university has studied all the gold medalists who come out of universities what happens to them. They found that 87% of them are on the streets after 10 years. The technical knowledge in one area if it makes you feel you know everything, you are in dangerous zone. Prose makes you fanatic. Fanaticism makes you violent with others, intolerant towards other ideologies and ideas & it makes you ignorant with other dimensions of your life. I have seen how people suffer. Just because you are expert in one field, don’t think you learnt life! The danger of technical knowledge makes you fanatic & ignorant. Having a technical knowledge in one aspect or one dimension of life and due to the fanaticism and ignorance not looking into the other aspects of life is what I call atheism. Atheism is not looking at all dimensions of life as it exists, being fanatic about the technical knowledge which you got & fanatically ignorant, deciding to be consciously ignorant of other dimensions & aspects of life just because of the arrogance & ego fulfillment which comes by the technical knowledge and one dimension of life. That is what I define as atheism. It is almost psychologically being handicapped and mentally retarded! Why do vedic masters teach theology in poetry?
Unfortunate thing is the prose makes you fanatic does not make you look at all aspects and dimensions of truth.
If you remain as poet, you have not become violent. You have not become fanatic. The prose has not made you fanatic and violent. The technical knowledge of one thing has not made you consciously ignorant of other dimensions of life. When Shankara writes commentary on the afforisms on existence, Brahma Sutra – his power of theology – theology is nothing but playing with words – Shankara is greatest theologian. When he writes Brahmasutra bashya – his afforisms on existence – what a extraordinary brain! Even the subtlest concepts how he is able to make people understand and how he is able to differentiate between one word and other word. But he has not lost his grace of poetry. Next moment he can sing ‘bhaja govindam, bhaja govindam…’ tukrunj karana is vyaakarana – a grammar which you need to know to understand the prose. He says the grammar will not help you when death comes to you. he is amazing poet and extraordinary theologian. Rare combination master of both. Only an enlightened being can express both qualities. The grace of poetry and depth of theology! Here patanjali expresses both. Both he is using to express technical knowledge & technique. In technical knowledge if you miss one or two words it is okay. But in technique if you miss it is dangerous.
Organizing capacity does not mean the honest spiritual experience is being transmitted. Understand, learn to differentiate between these two. Especially never learn technical knowledge from somebody who cannot give the experience without technique. A master should be able to transfer the experience without technique. Then go for technical knowledge and technique from him. At least to few people he should be able to transmit experience without technique. Then he has capability to give you both technical knowledge & technique.
I will continue on this sutra tomorrow also. When you look at this sutra from different different angles, diff diff meanings will be revealed. I wanted to reveal as much as possible so that you have a comprehensive idea for practice. I am talking and expanding on this book for sacred secrets for posterity so that this technical knowledge & secrets are not lost. Patanjali Yoga Sutras and Hata Yoga Sutras I will rename as most sacred and powerful truths.
Whether your breathing is going inward, or staying inside. or coming outward or staying outside, whatever may be the breathing movement, whatever may be the time & spot, wherever it may be – most hot place, cold place in the world, place where oxygen is available or not, whatever may be the place, time, action you are doing – you may be eating, sitting, standing, walking, enjoying some pleasures, going through some pain – whatever may be – whether it is the mood of pain or pleasure the life of joy or depression whatever may be the situation again & again & again whenever you see thoughts are being awakened, created by the breathing flow – stop the breathing! Not using your hands, just using your will. This is what I call Praanayaama. Please understand, now there are so many questions – how to, what will happen if I stop my breathing – will I not die. You will not. Don’t worry. You will not die that easily and liberate the world! world has lot to suffer by you and you have lot to suffer by the world ☺ so don’t have fear that you will die.
One guy met me and told – swamiji my wife is constantly telling me she will commit suicide. I said don’t keep sharp objects, rat poison, etc around. He said – no swamiji, I kept everything ready, but will she die? ☺ so don’t have fear. You will not die. Actually when you use the will and stop the breath. After few seconds your body will breathe again. It is a very powerful technique. It can lead you to mano naasa – cessation of the mind. In Sanskrit naasa means complete destruction. But you don’t need to have destruction of mind, you need to have cessation of mind – end of mind. Please understand, mind vibrates in certain frequency – so it should end vibrating in that frequency and vibrate in other frequency – cease to exist in that frequency. You mind needs to cease to exist in the frequency in which it is existing now. For that this is the technique. Whenever you can, whenever you remember, do this technique – other than your breathing thoughts, any though happens in you, stop the breathe! This is what I call surrendering to praana, surrendering to the praanic energy. The surrendering to praana straight away leads you to savikalpa Samadhi. And naturally from savikalpa Samadhi leads to nirvikalpa Samadhi.
I don’t want to add more & more words, you will miss the techniques. I have seen people going to a wedding, they will see all the decorations but miss the bride & bridegroom! It is like you go to a hospital and because of the glory of the structure, you see the whole hospital, see the doctor and come back without discussing about your health!
I will give you the exact technique – whatever maybe the time or space, whatever maybe the action of breathing – whether going in, staying or coming out, the moment breathing creates thought in you – stop it. After few minutes automatically it will be released. When you remember again, stop it. I can say this the technique for instant enlightenment and instant kundalini awakening. If you work on this technique sincerely for 2-3 hours, it can awaken your kundalini energy!
Somebody goes to temple and prays to God – God, what it is a million dollar for you. God says what it is one paise. What is 1000 years for you? What, it is just one second. Oh God! Then why don’t you give me million dollars? God says – wait for 2 seconds!
I am not talking from that language. I am talking from your language. Just few hours – hours in your chronological time if you work, you can achieve instant enlightenment. This technique of instant enlightenment will help you to awaken your kundalini energy instantly! This is a very powerful technique. You will not die with this. Don’t use your fingers. Use only your will. You will have a balanced body. when you are balanced, again when thoughts are raising, again do it. So no thoughts and only breathing is what I call Jeevanmukti! Blessings!
