Today subject “Faith, Effort, Time”, the unfailing formula. “Faith, Effort, Time” the unfailing formula. Patanjali is not only a spiritual Master, He is a great visionary. He created the civilization which was complete. Not only having outer world infrastructure, it was able to retain the inner balance. It was able to experience the peaks of super consciousness. The experiences of the ultimate ecstasy. As I was introducing the Sutra to you yesterday, each Sutra is independently intelligent enough to make you fully enlightened. When I say fully enlightened, I mean not only spiritual enlightenment, even in the outer world. Even in the outer world contributing to society, you will be a person, really contributing to the humanity, contributing to society. The Patanjali spirituality is not running away from society, not escaping from society. His spirituality is living. Uses a beautiful word. Please understand in the first chapter itself, he speaks about Samadhi, Enlightenment and everything. That’s why the first chapter is called Samadhi Prada. But the last chapter, fourth chapter, he speaks something called Kaivhaya. Kaivhya Prada, the word Kaivhya means living enlightenment. Making the power of enlightenment, express itself in your day to day life. Living it, seeing that energy, that intensity is express in your day to day activity. Experiencing the fulfillment, completeness even in the outer world. This sutra, what Patanjali gives in this sutra, if the formula is applied in the inner world, you will achieve inner enlightenment; if the same formula is applied in the outer world, you will be an amazing contributing citizen. You will be a great contribution to the humanity. You’ll be amazing blessing to the whole civilization. Patanjali is a Master trying to create civilization with inner experience and the outer fulfillment. To this Aphrism, “Faith, Effort, Time”, the unfailing formula. Please understand, when I say “Faith”, I’m not saying blindly believing some concept, blindly having faith on some concept. No! When I say “Faith”, I mean feeling connected. Please understand feeling connected to some area is a basic thing in every human’s life. You may feel connected to the area in the outer world, or you may feel connected to the area in the inner world. Some area you will feel connected. Sometime people come and tell me, “Swamiji, I want my family people to come to you.” I tell them what is that, bring them. He said, “No! No! No! They don’t have faith on Swamis. They don’t have faith on spirituality. They don’t have any faith.” I tell him “No! Don’t say they don’t have any faith. They may be having faith on some other areas.” But any men, any person, has to have faith on some areas, only that you can be alive. May be they have faith only in the area that if you work, if you do this, this, this, this things. And if you have this money, this house, or this bank balance, or this relationship or this job. That’s life. May be their faith is that. But nobody can be without faith. They may be feeling connected to different area. But everyone has to feel connected to some area. Some area they will be feeling connected. Usually, we use the word, “faith”, only for feeling connection with the inner world. But I always tell, you may not have faith on spiritual area, but they will have faith on some other areas. But they will have, they have to have feeling connected. If somebody doesn’t feel connected to the areas of the inner world and the areas of the outer world, he will be depressed. He will be dead, dull. May not be physically dead, just waiting to die. See, waiting to die is not life. Waiting to die doesn’t mean he is living. Because he doesn’t have courage to commit suicide or doesn’t know how to die. He’s just waiting for death to happen. He’s just waiting for death to happen. That is not life. He may not have faith. He never feel connected to the spiritual area; he may feel connected to some other areas. But for some area you have to feel connected. I always, the people who feel connected to the outer world area. They think, they are superior. Or some way, they are more intelligent. They don’t understand where they are going to land.

Having feeling connection only to the outer world areas, suddenly you will feel one day that you are being cheated. You life is empty. You can see from the young age, first either you start believe it or the society makes you believe, that if you do this, this, this, this, you will feel settle. Usually between 7 to 14, you feel the individual identity; from that time you will start feeling that kind of emptiness inside. And you feel you are in an island, naturally you have to feel emptiness. And if you feel connected to the area, see. if you feel connected to the outer world area, naturally what the society will be, study well, get employ, then, everything will be smooth. And naturally you will run behind it. You think if I study well. The area with which you think you are connected, you work for that. If I do that, then, everything is settled. You study, get employ, suddenly, society puts another area. No, no, no, if you find your love and get settled, everything is settled. If you feel connected with that area then you start running behind that. You try to find your love, and after that, no, no, no, if you get married, means permanent relationship, and I have kids, everything is settled. After marriage, you know. And then, no, no, no, have a house, car, bank balance, kids, everything is settled. You feel connected to that area, you work for that. Then everything happens. And suddenly especially if you are Bharatn parents. No, no, no, if your child is educated and settled. Everything is settled. Then your child will get educated, everything happens. Suddenly, no, no, no, no, no, if he is married, and settled in his life, everything is settled. Once he is married and settled in his life. If I have my grand kids, playing around me, I have nothing else to do, I’m settled. My life is relaxed.

Just look inside, you go on feeling connected to the area which is constantly postponing the feeling settled. Understand, the important difference, Patanjali’s idea, the importance truth Patanjali wanted to reveal is, to run your life you don’t need to have the unsettled feeling. See, there are some civilizations believes, only if the man has a deep unsettlement inside him, he will, he can be made to work. No, this is the major difference between Patanjali and the materialistic civilizations. Civilizations which are base on the outer world. Patanjali is not against the outer world. But the one difference is you don’t have to run your whole life base on unsettled feeling. See, many civilizations, they start believing unless the man has the unsettled feeling, he can not be made to work. No! that is the main difference. You don’t have to feel connected to the wrong ideas for constantly to contributing to the humanity. That is not needed. With feeling settled, you will be so alive, just as overflowing you will be contributing.

In Vedic tradition, we have two kinds of wealth, Gobaila’s wealth and Lakshmi’s wealth. Gobaila’s wealth means he would accumulate, accumulate, accumulate and hold, neither he will enjoy nor somebody else can enjoy. Technically he will play with the number, he will have the wealth, neither he will be enjoying nor others will be enjoying. The Laskshmi’s wealth means she will be constantly circulating, giving, giving, giving, giving, giving. Not only she will be enjoying everyone will be enjoying. See, Laskshmi’s wealth means, you will not bother to spend because you have courage and confidence about your intelligent to create more wealth. You are so intelligent, you are courageous, you know, you can create. You know you can create, so you allows it to flow through you. This is what we call Laskshim’s wealth. The Gobaila’s wealth means he only knows few common matters, technically to won, technically together. He will not be doing anything. Everybody else will be working, somehow he can give some promises, fictions being sold in fractions. He knows the technique how to sell the fictions in fractions. He knows the technique. He can make that to happen and he will be holding. He will not be contributing directly to society. He will not be contributing directly to society. Please understand if you understand this two ideas Gobaila’s wealth and Laskshmi’s wealth, the circulating wealth and staggered wealth. You will have the Vedic solution for the present economy crisis. This is the Vedic solution for the present economy crisis. This fictions being sold in fractions is main responsible that is responsible for all the economical crisis. Because people who buy, they did not realize they are buying fictions in fractions for quite a long time. The moment they wake up, they woke up, oh God, the fictions are being sold in fractions I’m buying. When they stop buying whole thing tumbles down. Contributing economy, accumulating economy, there are two different kinds. Understand, if the civilization is built on a unsettled feeling of a human being, if a faith is such a only human being feels unsettled, he will continue to work and contribute. If the civilization built is base on that area, please be very clear, constantly we will only be trying to make quick bucks, we will not bother about contributing to society, contributing to humanity, we will bother only about the numbers in my bank balance, the numbers in our bank balance. The numbers in our bank balance, you just bother about the number. And the number gives you kind of a feeling of security, but it can never give a feeling of settle. The only difference, what Patanjali is teaching, Patanjali says human beings doesn’t need the unsettled the feeling to contribute to the society, with the deep fulfillment, with the deep settled feeling. If we allow him to settled down without any insecurity, without any fear, without any unsettled feeling, the overflowing energy with which you contribute will be very contributing. He will be contributing, he will not be selling fictions in fractions. He will not be selling fictions in fractions. Many time, I have seen, I have seen some of these guys, how just two three ideas, or two three promises and they make money of that. People wake up and realized it, oh, God! Then, the whole thing will tumble down. Why people try to make quick bucks, because the whole emphasis is on the insecure feeling. Patanjali is trying here to create a samardhi base civilization. A civilization which is living enlightenment, Kaivhaya. That’s why in the initiate level when he talks about samadhi. The end, he gave a beautiful charpter, Kavilya Prada. He teaches us how to live enlightenment. How to live enlightenment. Human beings doesn’t need to be slave of insecurity, fear to contribute. I have seen people who work out of greed and fear, they become tired, and the layer of tamus innightness get settled around them. Once, see, when the fear and greed is awaken, it can drives you for few years, like an explosion. It can drive you for few years. Just have a few years, after that you will become insensitive to your fear and greed. Your consciousness can not be moved by your fear and greed. You will start settling down. Even in the company they would say after 5 years they will be low cut. There will be low cut. There will be low cut. Which means what the fear and greed which was pushing you, which was filling you, doesn’t have any more power over you. Your system becomes insensitive to those areas. See, early when you start the company, when you start the business. Your visualization to have a house, the beach, or to have a Mercedes car, to have a bank balance, these ideas are there to push you to explode. You are working, working, working. Suddenly you have all of them, you realized the emptiness behind it. You see the emptiness behind it. Now, those fear and greed cannot drive you anymore, then, the tumus, innateness settled around you. Suddenly you know, nothing makes you work, and even small problem looks too big. When you are exploding with the fear and greed, the same problem wouldn’t have looked that big, now suddenly the small problem looks too big. And he just want to escape, like ah Ajuna trying to escape. Ajuna was trying to escape from the war field. One funny thing is Ajuna is speaking about Dharma, means the morality and the law to Krishna, that is the funny thing. Krishna, the Pruna Prada, ___________jyotis, is a self illumue consciousness. The full incarnation is there, it will be very funny if you see the dialogue between Krishna and Ajuna in the first chapter. It’s not dialogue, monologue, only Ajuna speaks. Krishna doesn’t speak about it, he just listens. All right, vomit whatever you want to vomit. And this guy goes on saying, “See, it’s not moral, it’s immoral.” He brings all these ideas to justify his laziness. I have seen, I have seen millions of people, and Krishna is fortunately Krishna has only handle one Ajuna, I’m handling hundreds of Ajunas everyday. It’s my professions. Hundreds of Ajunas. These guys come and tell me, “No, No, Swamiji, I feel this should not be done, this should not be done.” Actually morality is right. Please understand the morality is needed, it’s right, but it should be, it should happened in you out of your freedom, not because of your innateness. Sometime, the right decision, wrong reason. Understand? Right decision, wrong reason. See, Ajuna trying, Ajuna saying, not to reach war can be right decision if the reason is also right. But Ajuna’s reason was wrong, that’s why Krishna says, “No! With this reasoning, don’t escape from fight, don’t escape from war.” It’s not right, if you have a right reason, you have no, no problem, You can move away from the war, but the wrong reason. Please understand, the right reason and wrong reason. Right decision wrong reason. One small story, three mad guys, wanted to leave the mad house, they go to the doctor and say, “I think all three of us are healthy enough and intelligent enough to live our life, please release us.” Doctor says “Okay, tomorrow we’ll have a test, if all three of you guys prove that you are intelligent, you can go, I have no problem. After all I don’t want you guys here.” Tomorrow all three come back, come there. Doctor takes all the three of them to a empty swimming pool, swimming pool without water. He call the first guy “jump!”. That guy jumps and breaks his leg. He call the second guy, “jump!” that guy also jumps, he breaks his hand. He call the third guy, “jump”, he says “No! I won’t jump” Doctor says “Yes, you can go back. You can go to your house, you are okay.” In the office, when the, ah, the paper is getting done, the last signature which is needed from the patient, when he was signing. The doctor asked “May I know why you decided not to jump into the pool? I know that you are going to be free, you made the right decision. But may I know why you don’t want to jump into the pool?” he said, “I don’t know swimming.” (Laughter) Right decision, wrong reason. Right decision, wrong reason. Please understand, sometime you do make right decision, wrong reason. Even if the reason is wrong, you are wrong. Here Patanjali comes, he wants even the reason to be right. Not only decision, even the reason to be right. Understand the fear or greed doesn’t need to be a driving mechanism, the “Faith, Effort, Time”. I want you to internalize this, this one true. When you believe with the ideas of the outer world, when you feel connected to that ideas of the outer world. Faith, the fear and greed becomes the driving force. And you are running because of that force. Please understand, that is always going to lead you to depression, or hopeless feeling, loneliness. Here Patanjali says, “Run with the right idea, let the right idea to be your fuel”. Blessed for those who feel connected to the spiritual ideas. Please understand, having faith, having feeling connected to the spiritual ideas is not an ordinary quality. It’s an amazing, amazing extraodinary, I can say, it’s like a feeling connected. Anyhow you have to feel connected to something, either the outer world ideas or inner world ideas. You have to feel connected to something. You don’t believe Swami or spiritual ideas, you will be believing your boss, that’s all. You will be believing some kinds of fantasy, that’s all. But you have to feel connected to some ideas. That is your life. If you feel connected to only to the outer world idea, you will see, just like ah, having a TV with only 2, 3 channels. You feel connected to the spiritual ideas, is like having a TV with 200, 300 channels. The more possibility, more exploding possibility. More possibility for life, understand, I always see, I’m working with thousands and thousands of disciples from all over the world. I have seen, Atheist, always end up with depression. Please understand, understand the basic true, See, for Atheist only what you see in front of your eyes is a truth, so what is their truth? what they feel connected? the basic need whatever you need. Some luxury, some comforts. So all these things will be fulfilled in few years. Neither it will be fulfilled or you have an idea it cannot be fulfilled. You’ll come up, it’ll be clear in few years. After that, what will you do? Nothing else to achieve, nothing else to do, there is no inspirations source. So naturally, being depress is the life style. I have seen a strong Atheist always ending depression. If he is inspirited excited working, he is a Theist inside. May be showing as an Atheist outside, that is okay no problem. For some reason,in Bharat I’ve seen, so many politicians, they would put up a show that they are Atheist. But inside, I know they are very strong Theist. But I’m happy about them. At lease inside, they know how to preserve themselves without falling into depression. Even if you are Atheist inside and nobody can save you, you are, depression is the only way. With feeling connected to spiritual ideas open a new door in your life. New dimensions of your life, you can explore many more things. Somehow dimensions are available to you. It’s just like ah, having a TV just with 2 channels or 200 channels. Atheist loves only 2 channels, how many, how long you would watching the same 2 channels? This side, this side, this side, this side, this side, naturally you will feel depressed. You feel bored. With 200 channels you have choice variety, you can continuously explore many different things, many different energy, experiences. Life is a constant excitement. Life is a constant excitement if you are awaken to the spiritual truth and ideas, feeling connected to the spiritual truth and ideas. Patanjali says, “Start with this idea, faith and effort and time.” First, I wanted you to understand this word, faith. You will have faith in something. It is better to have a spiritual truth than anything else. Because spiritual truth are delivered from complete consciousness. Please understand the spiritual seers, person like Patanjali, he sees your being thoroughly, out and out, he himself has solved all the problems, he himself has achieved the fulfillment. He is complete, he is Pruna. See from a complete being, fulfill being, anything comes out will be always leading you to the fulfillment. From fulfillment only fulfillment can come. If you read Upanishads, “Men as such a fulfill being.” that’s the first statement. By very nature, it can elevated to the super consciousness. Your brain is hardware for enlightenment. Because the Eastern Master, the Master like Patanjali, Ramana Maharishi, Rama Krishna, all of them, again and again and again say. Out of fulfillment men can function, out of fulfillment life can express. But the western psychologist, again and again emphasizes only out of insecurity are need for something, fear or greed, men can function. Please understand out of fear or greed if you are functioning, after sometime, your engine will become insensitive to the fuel, same engine, can not be used the same fuel, fear and greed may not be useful for the engine. Out of fulfillment if you are functioning, it will be eternal, and continuously contributing. Continuously contributing. Master like Patanjali, they see the whole thing. they see the whole thing, and out of fulfillment this ideas come out. So if you internalize these ideas and start living. You will also live fulfillment. In Sanskrit, we have a beautiful Sutra, Bhuna Maadum, Bhuna Meedum, Bhunaa Bhuna Meeda Chaday, Bhuna sat, Bhuna Madayah, Bhuna Vadayshayah. Out of whole, the whole comes out, even after the whole is removed from wholeness, the wholeness remains as whole. Vedic mathematics. Vedic mathematics. Understand, the Vedic mathematics is amazing truth. Out of wholeness, wholeness is taking out. After that also wholeness remains. Means, out of fulfillment anything express, even after expression, fulfillment will be a fulfillment, it will be continue to express. It will be continuously expressing. It will be continuously sharing. It will be continuously growing. By sharing which does not reduce is called Tajas, Sanskrit for the word Tajas, we have two meanings, one fire, one enlightenment. See, fire, if it shares itself, it does not reduce. It only expands, that’s why Ramana Maharishi says very beautifully, Arunachala, the hill is consider a fire. Not only represents fire, it represents enlightenment. By sharing, it only expands, fire, by sharing, it never reduces it. See, for example, water, if you share, it will reduce. The air, if you share, it will reduce. But fire, if you share, it only increases. Tajas, it says, out of fulfillment you can work. Out of fulfillment if you work, you will only be expressing more and more fulfillment to you and to the people are around you. Working out of fulfillment is what Patanjali called Kaivhaya. This Sutras is all about Kaivhaya. Please understand, this Sutras is all about Kaivhaya. Many time, in the name of spirituality we try to escape from the world. We try to escape from the world. We just use our laziness for spirituality. “No, no, no” many people come and tell me. “No, no, no, why the great sadus Mahama, like Ramakrishna they did not doing anything, they were just sitting. And Ramana Maharishi is always laying on the couch. No, it’s not true. Understand may be from the outer world you can say. He used to cook, he used to cook actually. He would take care of everything so meticulously. From the outer world, we are out of use. Ramana Maharishi did not do anything, the whole day he was sitting on the couch and talking to people. That’s what also I’m also doing, what is wrong. People have their own opinions, their own ideas. Ramana Maharishi always laying down, why not me. I’m also laying down watching the TV. Why do people call me couch potatoes? They go and touch the feet of Ramana Maharishi but with me they call me couch potatoes. Understand, the state of consciousness that plays a major role. You cannot understand their ideas and try to imitate in your life. I have a story for you. The teenage was just past the driving test. And asked his father who is a judge minister, whether he could borrow his car. Judge minister says, “Yes, you may borrow my car. My son, if you study bible, work hard at college and get your haircut. A month later, the _____ask again whether he could borrow the car. His father says, “I’m very proud of you, my son. You are being studying your bible, and your college results are excellent, but the only thing is you are not have your haircut. This guy says, “Dad, why should I cut my hair, I have been thinking about it. See, Samson had a long hair, Mosses had a long hair, even Jesus had a long hair. Father says, “that is true my son, but they walked everywhere. They didn’t bother anybody’s car. Understand, you cannot compare with them. And try to do, try to imitate them. They are fulfilled, so even they are silence, was fulfilling everybody. Even in their silence, they fulfilled thousands of people. If you are doing anything out of your fulfillment. It will be fulfilling everybody including the animals who come around you. Even though the animals. _________________________, in Sanskrit we have two words. ________means the trees, plants, others. ____________ means even the stones. Even the ______________which comes around you or near which you go, even they will feel fulfilled. __________________. Even all of them will be filled by you. Patanjali says, work out of that fulfillment, when a Master like Patanjali gives idea, he sees all dimensions of your being, but when ordinary people, when they are trying to give ideas about your life, they have only their own interest, naturally the society will tell you work, study, Why? Because they need servants. That is the way the society gets build, and they don’t care about you, they care about what they want. Each one has their own idea what they want. They don’t even look completely. Understand, internalize the decision, internalize the idea created by a person who knows the whole thing completely. Patanjali, a person like Patanjali, he has complete vision. When he internalized their ideas, feel completely with their ideas. And start living, even though in the initial level is a little, it may look a little difficult because we are being made to believe it’s difficult. People come and tell me, “Swamiji, half an hour I can’t sit for meditation.” I said “All right, sit in your couch and meditate.” “No, no, even sitting in the couch half an hour is not possible.” I tell them for football match, how many hours you sit? In Bharat, Cricket, in this country football is a religion. Each country they have their own religion. For cricket how many hours they sit? For football how many hours they sit? “No, no, that is different, Swamiji.” See, it’s like a feeling connection. If you are feeling connection fortunately idea that Patanjali is expressing, you will have the same fulfillment which Patanjali is living. Unfortunately if you feel connected to the ideas which are expressed by people who are not fulfilled, not complete by themselves, naturally you will reach only that source, that level. Understand, the person who is teaching you, constantly telling you make money, you will have fulfillment, have relationship, you will have fulfillment, find your love, you will have fulfillment. Even he is not found fulfillment with the money or wealth or relationship. That’s the whole fun. You are living the ideas who are preached by a person who himself did not find fulfillment through those ideas. This is what we called Maya. In Sanskrit, this is what we called Maya. You are living ideas, but the person who is giving the ideas to himself is not found the fulfillment through that areas. Where are we heading? In Sanskrit we have a prophet, “The blind leading to the blind.” Both fall to the ditch. That what is happening. That what is happening. The other day, in _______, the other kid was brought to me. The mother brought a child, the guy was like 14 year old. Mother said “Swamiji, he is not listening to me. Please tell him to listen to me.” I had a shock, I myself did not listen to my mother. And I said “No, no, no. you yourself talk to him and tell him. I cannot lie, I just somehow, I want to avoid. It’s a very difficult situation. But you know ladies once they told, they stand. And this lady said, “No, you have to tell him, Swamiji.” Ah, in front of me fight is going on, finally I said all right, let me talk to him, I said “Why don’t you listen to your mother? See, even I’m listening. Even I’m listening, why don’t you listen to her?” He just looked up and said, “Swamiji, she herself is not happy and depress. If I listen all her ideas I’ll also become like that.” True! Somehow I managed, and somehow I managed and said, “No, no, no, you should not talk like this and send him away but I could not convince myself, what he said is right. What he said is right! We are swallowing the ideas of people who do not have complete vision with the reality, who are just floating in some fantasy, who don’t even know how to think. Please understand, having thoughts does not mean that you are thinking. Having thoughts is not thinking, there is another important click you need to understand. Having thoughts is not thinking. Only when you are fulfilled, you are proper, logical, clear, stabilized, thinking can happen inside you. Still then you may be having thoughts. Suddenly they will come and visit and say hi, bye! And they will go, why they come, what they do, why they go, you don’t know. Many time, see, the kids till the age of 3, they cannot differentiate between the dream and reality. They cannot differentiate between dream and reality till the age of 3. If they feel hungry in the dream, they will be crying in the waking state. And if they feeling something wild in the dream state, they will be crying in the waking state also. They would think it’s the reality. Same way you also, if you are feel with fantasy, you don’t know what is real, what is fantasy. Many time you can see, you take decisions without even knowing the different between the fantasy and reality. And just you made some decision. I have a story for you. A wife was having an affair with a TV repair man, she complaint my husband never pays any attention to me, all his is ever bother about is watching the football game on TV. That’s why we got the biggest set in the neighborhood. So he can watch the game. Just then, she heard a key in the front of door, in the front door, her husband has arrived, arrived home unexpectedly. She said to the guy “Quick, hide in the back of the TV.” So the guy hid himself in the back of the TV, when the husband came and sat down to watch the football game. After 10 minutes, he becomes so hot and uncomfortable in the back of the TV set, that guy climbed out, walked straight, pass the husband and out the front door. The husband turned to his wife with a surprise and asked, “Hey honey, I did not see the referee send that guy out, did you?” Many time you did not know, whether the guy is coming out of the game or behind the TV. We don’t know, we don’t make the difference; we are just living in fantasy. People asked me, the referee didn’t send this guy out, how come this guy is running out. Many time we are doing the same mistake. We don’t know what is happening in the fantasy in reality. And we missed. Look inside, all your major failure decisions, all your major wrong decisions of your life could have been taken at the moment where you are not able to cope up. Understand, realize the different between the fantasy and reality. That is the moment you take all the major wrong decisions. All the major wrong decisions. Patanjali takes us to the depth of the faith, effort, time. First thing, Faith, means feeling connected to the spiritual ideas. Understand, if you, sometime people comes and tell me, “I don’t have faith, feeling connected to the spiritual ideas.” You may not have the, you may not understand the utility value of it, that’s why you are not feeling connected. If you understand the utility value of it in your life. Naturally you are intelligent enough to turn your energy and attention to the spiritual truth. First thing, don’t feel pride, if you don’t feel connected to the spiritual idea. Its something seriously wrong. You are missing something. Understand if you are not feeling connected to spiritual ideas, naturally you will be feeling connected with some nonsensical ideas, so don’t be pride, that is the first thing. Second thing, you feel “No, no, no, I don’t feel connected to the spiritual idea but I wanted to feel. I’m not happy about it, I wanted to feel connected to the spiritual ideas. Then, understand the utility value of feeling connected to the spiritual ideas. You are intelligent enough. Your energy will turn and start feeling connected. Internalize this Sutras, let’s entering to the Sutras, what Patanjali wanted to say, about this great idea, the ultimate unfailing formula, unfailing formula. Then, you will see. You start experiencing this “Faith, Effort, Time” all these things effortlessly.

The Sutras, the 20th Sutra___________________________________________________, very beautiful sutra. I just wanted to give you the translation of Swami Vivikananda, other two three translations, and I’ll give my own translation. “By others, this Samadhi is attend through faith, energy, memory, concentration and discrimination of the real.” And Sachitananda’s translation “To the others, the ___________ Samadhi could come from faith, strength, memory, contemplation or by discernment.” I want to give you my own translation, I try to use usually more words to explain each concept, because the word “Shastra” you can’t translate as “Faith”, the faith word is, you can say only one dimension of Shastra, “Shastra” means faith plus the courage to stand behind the faith. That is Shastra. Courage to live the faith. That is Shastra. So I usually try to use more words, so that the concept itself is express in the translation. Not just the little translation. If I restrict myself one Sanskrit word, one English word, then I may not able to express the whole area in the translation. So I pick up few more words to express each concept in my translation. That’s why my translation runs little long.

The path of the ultimate is attained by some, by faith in the path, energy directed on the path, repeatedly bringing to awareness of the path, concentration and discrimination. Five things, Shastra , Bheelia, Smuriti, Samadhi, Prajna. Five things. First, we understood Shastra, the faith, if it’s loosely translated faith, faith and energy to live the faith. The courage to live the faith. The feeling pride about what you are living. The big problem happened in the Vedic civilizations, somehow, they lost the pride about their great tradition. They lost the pride about what their ancestors created. See the worst thing happened to the Vedic civilization. It’s not people from other civilizations coming and destroying their temples. It’s not stealing their property. All those things we never bothered. The ____________ was destroy by 17 times, which means what, 17 times we built it again, that’s why he came and destroyed. ____________ was destroyed by _____________ 17 times. Why? Because again and again we are building. We are not tired. I know millions of temples had been demolished. But next generation will reacted much better than that. They will stand again. That was not the great conspiracy. That’s the right word done to the Vedic tradition. The greatest conspiracy, somehow, we are being taught, given ideas, the way in which we started understanding and internalizing and loosing the pride about our tradition. The pride about this grace of this spiritual wealth, and knowledge. When that is lost everything is lost. Everything is lost. Everything is lost. Surprise, because this civilization is great knowledge. It’s there for last 10 thousand years nobody is able to shake. How come in last 60 years, so much is being lost. Especially in Tamil Nadu, South Bharat. And I realized where this spiritual ideas are taught, the pride is taken away. The utility value of this spiritual ideas are taken away. And naturally nobody will study, and the pride is not there, disappears. That was the worst thing happened to the Vedic tradition. Feeling connected to this great ideas, to this great truth is the first path, Faith. Second thing, Bheelia, Sanskrit word, Bheelia is a very powerful word. Understand, Bheelia is comes from the root, Deelia, the idea of Deelia is define not as conquering or killing somebody. But, as conquering your own mind and having control over yourselves. Strength to stand with your mind, strength to stand with your being, strength to maintain the balance in your being. Deelia, the energy directed in the path, the strength. In Sanskrit, the Deelia word, especially Pantanjali here uses the word is not saying about killing others, conquering others, No. the Vedic civilization was not built for conquering others. The only country which never invaded in any countries. Last five thousand years, three thousand invasions happened in Bharat. But not even once these guy are gone out and invaded other country. There is a record, the South Bharat troop was sent to Indonesia, the Cambodia, all those places. But they never invaded, killed local tribes. They created a new civilization. They married. They created a new civilization. In Cambodia if you see, amazing temples, the whole place was caved in Chennai, we have a place called _______ and was taken by ship, assemble in Cambodia. People are never killed. The civilization was created never invaded. So we are not built on conquering. So what Patanjali says Deelia, he means standing with your mind, ability to balance your being. Usually we have some thoughts, it comes out of your brain and passes through your brain grouse and become a vibration in your body. And action happens, only after the actions happen you even know why you had that kind of thought, why you did that kind of action. And you start either repenting or feeling guilty. Deelia means having the awareness and strength to catch the thought by the time it comes out. Before even when it passes through it’s brain grouse. Before even it affect your decision making energy. The moment it starts catch it there itself. The Deelia, the ablity to catch in the root itself. Ramana Maharishi called it a Ahaams Spurana. Sitting in the space where the Ahaams, the identity is raising. That’s what I called, Deelia. They have a beautiful story about this Deelia, it’s a wonderful story. In south Bharat in a place called Tirulalu, there is a great saint, Dakshinamoorti Swami, an Enlightened Master. Still his Samadhi is there, stone is there. Very vibrant, alive, living energy. Still, still is available. Whoever goes to his present, his is available. He used to be sitting naked under banyan tree. He would not get any clothes. He would sit under the banyan tree and just sitting and he just relax in a blissful way, completely fulfilled. The King was ruling that area. The King had a pride about this, his courage or his energy the way he was. In Tamli language there is a tradition if some King kills thousand elephants in the war, thousand elephants, a special song will be sung on him with thousand verses. It’s called Banali. It’s called Banali. That’s a kind of a poem. It is sung only to the person who proves his power by killing thousand elephants. So this King in the war, in the local war, he kills thousand of elephants and the local this poet, it’s _______ poet sung that song on him with thousand verses. Praising his glory, and this King on other work and his poets also no other works. This guy need to sing and he will give money. It goes on and on and on. This poet, suddenly his felt. Sometime like this out of the scienist field, they are bending the truth for the person for the sake of the person who is funding the research and development. So he also has a guilt. I think I’m singing about this guy even though this guy is not worthy of what I’m singing. Because he gives money I’m singing. I should stop. The conflict between Lakshmi and Saraswati. The intellect and wealth. Started in him. Should I continue to use my Saraswati to get little Lakshmi? Or should I stand up and do only what I believe as truth. Suddenly somehow he was possessed by Shastra, Shastra Vivikchar. Shastra possession happened on him , he was possessed by Shastra. The straight, the strength and faith formula. And he started seeking a Guru to achieve inner fulfillment. That’s a great thing in the Vedic civilization, the moment you start thinking inside, you want to look further in the life, either by fear or greed, or depression or pain or suffering or anything, they will start seeking Guru. The whole civilization, if somebody is depressed, first thing they will tell. “I’ll become a Swami.” They will not even bother, they will not say I become commit suicide. I’ll do that, I’ll do this. Because this is very rare, this guy start trying to find out the Swami. Fortunately, he gets an opportunity to meet with this Dakshinamoorti Swami, he comes and sits in the present, neigther the Swami spoke a single word, nor the poet asked any questions. Somehow just the click happened. The click happen. When the click happens, see it’s like a loaded gun being trigger. The poet is a loaded gun, feel the seeking. The present of the swami is just triggering, just triggering. See, if you triggered an unloaded gun, nothing will happen. If you don’t trigger the loaded gun, nothing will happened. Both should meet and match, and merged. The seeking and the enlightened person present. Here, both merged. And no word to share. Just Dakshinamoorti Swami shows through his body language, sit, relax. The poet sat quietly, the intense present of the master, the thought per second in poet’s mind started reducing drastically. The TPS started coming down. Da da da da da da da! In few seconds, the poet was in deep silence. He was almost in Samadhi, he was in Samadhi. May be after 2 days, Dakshinamoorti Swami removed his hand, his hand and slowly the poet came to awareness, the ordinary consciousness, the ecstasy, the joy, the fulfillment was so much, he sang the same Banali song. Sang the thousand verse which is sang to the King in the same meter he sang about this swami. Saying killing thousand elephants is much easier than killing the mind. You killed my mind. So you are worthy of Banali, he sings Banali, He sings about this Master in the same meter. He sings for the Master, till then everything was going smooth. Now problem starts. Naturally always among the poets, there will be somebody who don’t like this poet, the competition, the competition poet he went and told the King. “King, don’t think you are the only one with the Banali in this country.” King said “Who else can have Banali like me? I’m the only one.” The poet says, “No, no, the poet who sang the Banali on you, the same guy had sang Banali on another beggar.” The King says “How dare? you sing the same meter on some beggar. This poet has to prove that beggar is worthy of the Banali. Who is here who can kill thousand of elephants except me.” This poet he did his job he escape. That poet who sang the Banali he was called, he was called, and King asked “How dare you sing in the same meter that swami also, what do you mean? You have to now prove that he is worthy, he has killed thousand elephants, otherwise, your head will be cut.” That’s the usual dialogue. Always the Kings would use that dialogue. And the poet says, I don’t know about cutting my head and all those things. All I says if you can just come once and see him. After that whatever decision you take I can’t tell anything, it’s going to be executed. It’s going to happen, so you do what you want? But I have my love for you, just because of that I tell you come and see him once. ________________, he goes his _______________all the senas, all the army. With his ministers, the whole kingdom goes to that Master, the King walks in the front and all these guys are following. And they reach the place where the swami is sitting, huge banyan tree, young guy sitting naked, not bother at all. Just fulfilled. His eyes are opened but he is not seeing anything. Because there is nothing to be seen. He can see everything inside. So his eyes, eyes are opened, but the eye balls are not moving. He is there in _______Samadhi. Suddenly, the moment the King saw him, something click. Because whenever King sees people, he sees very clearly the fear which is there in the person, and how the civilians obey, how the citizens obey. He sees the respect, He sees the fear. First time he is seeing a man there is no trace of fear. See, Kings are very intelligent, they know how to create fear in people, that’s why they are Kings. See they are sitting in a throne because they are able to create fear in everybody. They are able to convince people that some way they are superior than others. He saw the Master, young guy, naked, no property, nothing. With opened eyes, he just fulfilled, so complete. He sees his present or his whole army is unable to shake him. The guy is in his silence, fulfillment. Suddenly something happens in him, how come? how can a person be without having fear about me and my army? Means there is no fear of death in him. He goes near Swami just sitting in his deep silence. Slowly, more and more the King gets closer, same thing which happened to the poet starts happening in the King. The numbers of thoughts is reducing. Understand, you will be violent and arrogant only if the TPS is high. If the thought per second drops you can neither be violent nor arrogant. The ego will disappear, it’ll melt, die down. When the numbers of thought, the restlessness, the irritation, the edgutation, when it’s started coming down, ego started melting. violent started melting, the arrogant started melting. He went and sat like a puppy next to the Master. Understand, I’m not describing some story, I’m describing an event which happened. It’s a history that happened. He just went and sat like a puppy. All the Swami did, he just showed his eyes, closed his eyes and sit, relaxed. Don’t worry, your army is not going to useful here, relax. The way in which it looks, the body language he radiated the courage confidence which was in his eyes. And in his being, just the master says, “sit and relax,” the King looks too small in front of the present of the great Swami. The master’s present, the present of a beggar, the great King looks too small. He just sat. Because the King sat, the whole army sat, because the whole army sat, all the ministers sat, because all the ministers sat, the whole citizen sat. the whole kingdom is sitting at the feet of the beggar. And the whole kingdom was in the silence. Story says, one day pass, two days over, third day Dakshinamoorti Swami, he felt little compassionate, all these guys are sitting for three days without food, may be they have to go back and have food. He just lifted his face and lifted his hand, told the King now go back. Suddenly the King came to the normal awareness. Feel with ecstasy, joy and the experience of the deep silence which he has never experienced in his life. The arrogance and violence which will never let you relax. First time in his life he experienced himself the restful awareness, the deep joy, the deep fulfillment, the deep peace and bliss. The King was unable to speak. He was sit for an hour like this intensely. You will see very clearly the tongue will be locked. You can’t speak, you can’t speak, and he sat for three days. He was not able to speak. The tears was pouring, he just did Namaska, came out and look into the poet and said, the only mistake you did, You shouldn’t have sang Banali on him, you should have sang Danali, Danali means the meter who is sang for the people who killed ten thousand elephants. Not thousand, he says, killing thousand elephants, the Kind says “Killing thousand of elephants is easy. All you need is the technique and the muscle, and weapons, that’s all!” Nothing else, but, killing not only your mind, and anybody comes in front of you, there are everybody mind, is millions and millions of times greater than any ordinary war or killing. So he says, not just Banali, sing Danali, means it’s worthy of the ultimate respect. Sing, and the poet sang Danali, still the whole thing is in stone. It you go to his stone, still you see the whole thing, the evidence of the whole incident, incident.

When Patanjali uses the word, Deelia, he is not saying, he is not giving you the idea of fighting with others, not that Deelia, not that courage, not that strength. Ability to stand with your mind. Ability to stand in your inner space. That’s why it’s called Deelia, effort. Again and again and again, trying to come back to the deepest space of your being, the silence, unclutch and come back to the silence. If your mind runs away some thought comes. Again, unclutch and come back to the silence. Everytime when you unclutch is equal to kill one elephant. If you also kill ten thousand times your thought, you are worthy of Danali, you will become Dakshinamoorti, you will radiate the same present. Understand, every time you unclutch from the thought and come back to the silence. You are killed one elephant. So, decide you will kill at least ten thousand elephants, means ten thousand thoughts. Not elephants, ten thousand thoughts. Ten thousand thoughts, unclutch, and come back to the inner space. You are worthy of Danali. That ‘s what Patanjali calls here Deelia.

The third word, Smurti, third idea, forth idea, fifth idea. Smuriti, Samadhi, Prajna. All three are very closely interconnected. We may not be able to understand all the three ideas today itself. But I’ll continuously speaking all the three ideas in the next discourses. If you find time, you can see there are many things in YouTube. Everything is posted in YouTube just next day, it comes in life streaming, then YouTube. It’s time we conclude with these two understanding. Not only time, if you have more ideas, you missed, you don’t internalize. I always take care that I express only two or three ideas very clearly, very strongly. So that you can internalize. You just sit on your inner space. If I go on speaking so many ideas, what will happen? The end of the discourse people come to me and tell, Swamiji, you spoke great, so many wonderful things, I asked him come on tell me, what I spoke? “No, no, no, no, no, no, no, that you don’t ask! But you spoke well!” Understand, I do not want to add more and more ideas. I want you to internalize, digest these two ideas. These two ideas, faith and effort. One good thing, with talking few ideas people internalizes. One bad thing, the continuity get lost because I need to go to some other cities. But that’s okay, always things will have some good or we have to compromise. Internalize these two ideas today. Shastra and Deelia. Having feeling connection to the spiritual truth. Deelia, the courage to stand. Live those spiritual truths. Internalizes these two ideas, you will see you are living Enlightenment. Living Enlightenment. Understand, many time, many time people come and ask me, “Swamiji, why don’t you bless me for this, why don’t you bless me for enlightenment.” I tell them, I’m constantly blessing, only you are not interested in receiving.” See when I express all this idea this is the blessing. This is the blessing, and this is what this is the truth, people ask me. “Swamiji, why don’t you find out from God, when am I become Enlightened?” God says always become Enlightened this moment. Become Enlightened this moment, but we only says, we are continuously postponing. There is a beautiful story, somebody goes Ramana Maharishi and says, Bawhan, actually Bawhan was walking, going around the hill, the person was walking behind him, and asked “Bawhan, God is never blessing me, he never gives me grace.” Bawhan just smiles and says, one person is walking in the front also, he calls the guy, the guy turns back and says, actually the person who was walking in the front, he asked the question, he asked the question. One guy was walking in the front and Bawhan was walking in the back. That guy was asking the question, “Bawhan, God never gives me his grace, I never graced, I never blessed.” “Bawhan laughs and says “Have you turned in and looked into him even once before complaining he is not giving him grace to you, he is not looking to you. Turn and look in, then you would understand whether he is giving you his grace or not?” So use this idea internalize, turn in. Then you’ll understand whether you have his grace or not, Otherwise, continuously asking God is not gracing, putting the blame on everybody. Asking people please find out from him, please find out from them. Actually the other day one person asked me “Swamiji, please find out from Shiva when will I become Enlighten?” I said, “Shiva wanted you to become Enlighten yesterday.” Not even tomorrow, he wants you to become Enlightened yesterday, by now you should have become. If you go on postponing what can be done.

I have a story for you. A golf nut meet a great saint, on the way, he asked the saint “your Holiness, I’m crazy about golf, I play everyday of the year, everyday of the year. But tell me, is there a golf course in heaven?” The saint says” I’m not sure, I have to ask God.” few days later, the man bump into the saint again. He asked ”Any news from God about the golf course in heaven.” He asked. The saint says “Yes, I have a good news and bad news.” This guy says, “No, first gives me the good news.” He says, ”Apparently there is a beautiful course in the heaven, with the ______green and _______. ” This guys says “What else can be the bad news.” He says, “Bad news is you have a tee time for tomorrow morning.” So don’t be expecting waiting for message from him, it’s already delivered to you. Now, the ball is in your court, you need to internalize, you need to experience. So, the great ideas of Pantanjali, the great truth of Pantanjali, be internalized by all of you, let you all internalize this great truth of Pantanjali. Let you all, Let you all achieve and radiate, I bless you all, let you all achieve and radiate the Jeevit Mukti living enlightenment, let you all achieve and radiate the eternal bliss, Nithyananda, thank you.
