AHIMSA – THE SUPREME RELIGION

Let's enter into the first sutra. First sutra is about ahimsa. Ahimsa means non-violence in Sanskrit. It is a Dhamma sutra, related to Ahimsa.

Dhammo mangalamukkitam | Ahimsa sanchamotavo || Devavi tam Namas santi | Jassadhamme sayamano ||

This is a very beautiful, although it is not pure Sanskrit. This is written in the Sanskrit which was used in those days by common people, like a spoken Sanskrit. We may call it as a colloquial Sanskrit. It is called by a different name called Pali. This spoken language is known by a few more names or terms, but this is not pure Sanskrit. It is a common man’s

Ahimsa sanchamotavo, Dhammo mangalamukkitam, Ahimsa sanchamotava, Devavi tam Namassanti. Jassadhamme sayamano.

What is the most superior Dharma? Ahimsa is the most superior Dharma. A person who is established himself in Ahimsa, even the Devataas salute him. Ahimsa is the most superior Dharma. That is the truth. Understand you can drop any Dharma. But Ahimsa is the Dharma which you can’t drop. It is the basic understanding for human beings to co-exist, to live together.

Small story. three friends ran to railway station. Last moment at 10:21,10:20 is the train time, 10:21, somehow two of them made, they got into the train the third one missed. The station master came and patted, tried to console the friend and said ‘don’t worry at least your friends made it.’ He says ‘no, no they came to see me off. They came to see me off.’

Be very clear, sometimes in a hurry you don’t know what you are doing, and that is what you claim as courage, when your hormonal pressure is little more than your intelligence or logic, you do something which you claim as courage, that is all. Otherwise, except a man who has experienced this neutral zone nobody can talk about courage. All Dharma, all morality, is related only to your con-science means the society, if you change the place where you live, the morality changes. It is just like a constitution of every country, law. It is just a social law. But there is one Dharma, one truth which is directly related to consciousness, which is universal. That is Ahimsa. That is why we say,

Q: How to hold on to the darshan feeling after going home and away from the enlightened Master.

This is nice question. Don’t have fear that it will go away. Don’t be greedy that it should stay with you. If it stays let it stay, if it goes away let it go. Just feel like it is a breeze. Do not be greedy of breeze. If you are greedy of breeze you will create only a/cs. So don’t be greedy of that, you will see beyond your mind it will start staying with you. You can’t do anything about holding on to it.

Q: How to find the right Guru?

First become a right disciple simply right Guru will find you. You don’t have to find the right Guru. See, just become a right disciple. Let your seeking be without hypocrisy. Let you be a real seeker, you will see the right Guru finds you. I always tell people, if you are a seeker, I will be running behind you. You don’t have to run behind me. I will be calling you again and again and I will try to spend time with you. If you are not a seeker, even if you try you will never be able to get few minutes.
