Guinness World Records® Record for Largest Mallakhamba (Pole Yoga) Lesson
Ma Mahayogananda: nityānandaṃ parama sukhadaṃ kevalaṃ jñāna mūrtiṃ | dvandvātītaṃ gagana sadrśaṃ tattvamasyādi lakṣyam || ekaṃ nityaṃ vimalaṃ acalaṃ sarvadhī sākṣi bhūtaṃ | bhāvātītaṃ triguṇa rahitaṃ sadguruṃ taṃ namāmi ||
Nithyanandam everyone! Today marks another big day in the Nithyananda Sangha and for Nithyananda Yoga! Nithyananda Yoga is making a big mark in the world teaching everyone precisely what Swamiji has reveal to humanity about the truth of yoga. The origin of yoga happened through Sadashiva, the source of us all. Teaching the world what the great benefits, actually it’s beyond benefits. The great gifts of authentic yoga steep in traditional frilless Hinduism. It is one such demonstration that happen today at Bengaluru Aadheenam, where we attempted to set the record for the largest Mallakhamba or tradition pole yoga lesson in the world.
Just couple of days back, we very successfully set the Guinness World Record for the Nithyananda Kundalini Rajju which is also called as traditional rope yoga, and, we were very successful in setting the first ever record in the world for the largest lesson in rope yoga. And a mere two days after the event, without tiredness because what do we know about tiredness, right? Actually the world should have seen what happen today. During the entire traditional pole yoga lesson, people you know would generally assume that after climbing the pole and doing all the asanas and learning and interacting with so many people, under the sun, that you would be tired! But the moment music started playing, all of you went wild! It is a clear indication that Nithyananda Yoga, the authentic traditional yoga from the source, it is a prove of it when you bend your body your tiredness and boredom leaves you. After an intense workout under the sun, when you are dancing for two more hours - what do you say about such people?
So to all of the viewers, I would now like to present the official adjudicator from the Guinness World Records, Sri Swapnil Dangarikar to please come up on stage. And I would like him to now declare the results of the event today.
Sri Swapnil Dangarikar: His Holiness Sri Nithyananda Swamiji, all of you wonderful people here! I have a lot to talk today because err I am here again just after two days. The energy I thought probably would be slightly lesser because you all would have been tired but it was much more than the previous record. And as you know this record was attempted for the first time today, so probably you know it requires so much skill, so much energy, a lot of planning as well, so I don’t know why nobody have planned it before. But I guess that was the reason that it took a lot of err out of them so I think congratulations first of all for just attempting this record as well. Very well done there! Especially with the temperature and the sun being much brighter than usual. So your energy level was commendable.
Coming to the official partner, as you all know that the record the minimum requirement was two hundred and fifty successful participants. So as you might have seen that a lot of the people probably were doing for the first time or just practise for just a very short time. But that did not matter. You all have created a second world record title with two hundred and sixty three participants!
(Drum roll, uproarious clapping and the Guinness World Record certificate is being presented to Swamiji by Sri Swapnil Dangarikar)
So I am not sure if you all heard the number because you all start clapping already. So, you all have broken the record with two hundred and sixty three successful participants! Congratulations once again! And I am delighted to say this once again that for the second time you all are “Officially Amazing!” There is one very important thing which I was telling her sometime back, that err I have seen hundreds of records but this one will be one of my favourite visual records because such an amazing performance! Very well done!
Ma Mahayogananda: Today we are also very delighted err and honoured with the presence of Sri Uday Vishwanath Deshpande Ji joining us in this historical event. Mr Deshpande Ji has been featured in Mumbai Legends for Mallakhamba, best of the titles of Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bharadwaj, Shifuji and Bharatn Fusion Kung Fu. Being a reputed national level player of Mallakhamba in the early seventies. He has help organised over a hundred Mallakhamba demonstrations and camps within Bharat and has taken Mallakhamba to the large audiences spread over a dozen countries around the world.
Swamiji: nithyānandeśvara sadāshiva samārambhām nithyānandeśvari adīshakti madhyamām | asmatāchārya paryantām vande guru paramparām ||
I welcome all of you with my love and respects. Especially the Guinness World Records adjudicator, Swapnil Dangarikar and Mr Uday Vishwanath Deshpande Ji and our own Mallakhamba teacher, and ehh… and we have today Shiva Sri Soma Sri Shivacharya with us on this auspicious day. And the sadhus and Mahants and Sri Mahants from Niranjani Akhada, Niranjani Peetha. Our own teacher \>\>\> and, all the eyewitnesses and VIPs who come here for adjudicating and stewards and judges. I welcome all of you with my love and respects.
First thing I wanted to tell you, thank you Guinness World Records for declaring us as “Officially Amazing” once more! Helping us in our mission to bring legitimacy to all the Hindu traditions. See fundamentally, my job is discovering the source of all the best things which is rooted in Vedas and Agamas, making it user friendly, and legitimising it for the world to live and celebrate.
See, when I say this Mallakhamba, Shivastambha, I am not cooking up something. Understand first when Sadashiva stood as the Deepastambha, Shivastambha, huge light shaft - the description says in Arunachala Purana very clearly, there was not space left other than Him! So naturally Brahma and Vishnu would have gone only on the pole up and down! So the Brahma and Vishnu are the first Shivastambha practitioners! Brahma went up, Vishnu went down! They are the first Mallakhamba practitioners! They practised Shivastambha first! So understand, I am not inventing something, I am only presenting it in a way modern day people can understand. You see, there is a pole and there is a place extra, you can say “Oh! Brahma would have flown and Vishnu would err have dug tunnel” and all that. But the description says very clearly in the Arunachala Purana, there was no space left other than the huge Jyothistambha, the Deepastambha, Shivastambha - then how Brahma has gone up and Vishnu has gone down? Naturally on the pole only! There starts Shivastambha practice.
Making everything user friendly, connecting it to the roots, and legitimising is my job and I thank Guinness World Records for helping us legitimising our traditional sports, arts, traditions. See, unfortunately so much of dilution and stealing is going on. Now the yoga, the number of brands of yoga - very recently Beer Yoga! It has started and I don’t know how many of you know in the New York they started? Have a beer bottle in your hand, along with the yoga empty the bottle. No, very recently! It’s not, I am not joking! It’s real! Beer Yoga! Oh God! Is there no limit for stealing and changing and altering? And Christ Yoga, Holy Yoga, Trinity Yoga. What is going on? Nude Yoga. What is going on? No, really! See what I am saying, so much of stealing is going on. So much of that all our portable knowledge is being stolen.
It is time all our traditional masters, Hindu leaders reclaim the origin, the source of this tradition, and establish it from the source! Give the puranic references. You see if somebody says, “Ohh! What is this? Brahma and Vishnu going up and down of the Shivastambha? Is this the origin? Looks weird!” It is not weird than drinking beer and doing yoga. It is no more weird than the Beer Yoga! If I connect the Mallakambha to Shivastambha and claim Brahma and Vishnu are the first practitioners, that is not more weird than the Beer Yoga. So understand, unfortunately Beer Yoga becomes legitimate and when I claim the source is this, it looks very “Ooh! Story telling.”
I thank Guinness Records for helping us to legitimise the arts of the Hindu tradition, arts and science, all these sports, cultural, culture, everything, from the Sanatana Hindu Dharma. And I thank Mr Uday Vishwanath Deshpande Ji for keeping this whole Mallakambha science alive, and taking it to the whole world. And, he was telling that he started learning at the age of three and I need, I want to tell him my Guru started teaching me at the age of three. And, my Guru will actually tie both my hands behind, and only I will be allowed to use the leg. With the leg, I have to climb the stone pole, it is not wooden pole. My Guru had a stone pole. On the stone pole I have to climb. It’s a single stone temple pillars and on that I have to climb. That the way he train. And, I also have one more information. Today, I personally came above the Ananda Puri and watch over the whole show, whole demonstration. I was watching all of you making the records from the roof of the Ananda Puri. And, I don’t know how many of you know in my quarters I have a pole? I have a Mallakambha in my room, in my quarters.
This is the best form of yoga, and I am very happy we have done the first record. I commit to the Yoga Sampradaya - all the yogis who kept these science alive, I commit with all of you, I’ll make this as a lifestyle. This is my offering to all of you. I know, I know what yoga has done to me. It is because of the yoga, my body is even able to hold this enlightenment energy, the Kundalini Shakti. You see, enlightenment is almost like a atomic bomb literally! When atomic bomb explodes, what kind of energy expresses? That kind of intense energy expresses in your body. Only if your system is prepared with the heavy yoga, strong yoga - your nervous system can hold the energy and behave in a balance way. I know what yoga has done to me. As my gratitude to all the yogis, from Adi Yogi, Mahadeva, Sadashiva, till now all the yogis, as my gratitude who offered this science to the world, who kept this science alive - I commit with you all, I’ll make this science as a lifestyle for the world.
Understand, it is time we make the yoga as a lifestyle with original verses, original Shastra Pramanas. With the original Shastra Pramanas we make yoga as a lifestyle for the whole world. And, very soon we will make thousand and eight poles. Not just make lesson record, we will make performance record. Performance record with thousand and eight poles. And for the international competition you are mentioning, at least hundred and eight people I’ll send for the competition from the ashram, from the sangha. And, we will really be happy to make this whole science available to the whole world and take this science to the world. Soon, we will have thousand and eight Mallakambha poles. Performance where at least two thousand eighteen people will be performing on thousand and eight poles. We will get the performance world record done.
And I also have one more good news. The yoga is practiced in multiple ways. From the yogic scriptures, I found six references - on the pole, on the rope, on the stable water body like a tank, swimming pool, swimming pool and moving water body like a river, and in between the pancha agni, the five intense fire. Today all of you did the pancha agni Shivastambha Yoga. All the five sides, the sun was so strong and it’s almost like a agni Shivastambha. The pancha agni. The various methods, ways yoga is practised.
One of our Parama Sannidhanam, the 219th Sannidhanam of Madurai Aadheenam, he was praised and called as Jalastambha Mahamuni, means he can do all the yoga asanas on water. He has tuned himself so much with water, all the asanas including Sirsasana he will do it on water. He will float, his will be above the water. Only that one inch or one and a half inch that crown area will sink into the water, the whole body will be up! He has mastered the science. So he was called Jalastambha Yogi. And even in his Sannidhanam title “Jalastambha” was given as a title, because he was a great yogi. And I was working on decoding that science. Successfully it’s done. Soon, as soon as maybe, when I say the word soon even before this January 9th Mahasadashivoham - you can expect few of our at least Balasanths performing Jalastambha Yoga. They’ll be performing Jalastambha Yoga. They’ll be demonstrating it to the world. It is just a little bit of preparation from my side for initiating you all. You don’t need to do anything. What you have done ever? Forget about that. I just have to initiate and I am preparing the, the Kundalini software to initiate all of you. You can very soon expect our kids performing Jalastambha Yoga.
There are so many things in Hindu tradition, we need to legitimise all of that by creating world records. We need to legitimise all of that by creating world records. Let’s do it. Let’s do it. So, I thank everyone of you. Now you all are officially amazing! Officially amazing. So, let’s continue to officially amaze the planet earth. Let’s continue to officially amaze the planet earth. So with this my blessings. Be blissful. 27:39
